Your questions Answered by Chris Mason

Post by ncfc_Tooze on Wed 19 Oct 2011, 2:40 pm

What would you say is the best game you have ever played?
I have been so lucky to be involved in so many great games but I played Adrian Lewis in the UK Open on the second tv stage and averaged nearly 112, and it was close.

Who is the toughest opponent you have faced?
Obviously Phil Taylor but Dennis Priestley is a very close second.

Did you really hate Phil Taylor as much as the cameras made out?
No we remain good friends and have been for nearly 20 years, we did have a fall out at the worlds but soon after we sorted everything out, sky do like a bit of hype and we were more than happy to give them some material.

Do you think your infamous argument with Phil Taylor damaged your career ?
No why would it have?

Do you prefer playing or commentating now ?
I can take or leave the comms work to be honest but I do enjoy it but I will always be a player first.

Who out of the up and coming players do you see taking over as the top dart players in years to come?
I havent atteneded any of the youth events so cant really comment.

What do you feel was your greatest achievment within the game?
Not happened yet!

For any Aspiring player, what suggestions do you have for improving there game?
I would say the most important thing is to enjoy playing, dont drink alchohol, look after yourself and practice hard.

How long do you practice for in a day? Do you think the amount of time other players practice for is too long?
When I finish with the personal trainer I will be doing 2 hours of finishing in the afternoon, followed by 2 hours of treble work in the evening.

Best venue you have played in?
Winter Gardens Blackpool.

We know you have talent, but now you have returned to darts can you keep up with the likes of Taylor, Wade and Lewis?
By the time I peak Im not sure where these players will be, with a bit of luck Phil will have retired to Tenerife! as for James and Adrian I thin they are beatable.

If you qualify through the Q-school next year can you see yourself breaking into the top 32 after the Worlds?
Within 2 years I will be back in the top 32.

Favorite darting memory?
Beating Phil Taylor in the semi final of a pro ranking event and Eric Bristow taking bets on it and winning us a free chinese banquet.

Current darts used?
Brand new winmau bespoke darts, on sale soon.

Walk on music?
Currently being produced.

Would youever consider a move to the BDO? If so could it kickstart your career?
No, i couldnt consider and neither would my sponsors.

Which top BDO do you think could win the PDC world title?
Martin Adams, Scott Waites.

Who do you think is the best "bad boy" of darts Paul Nicholson or Ted Hanky?
Ted takes some beating and is a multiple champion.

Can you ever see youself as world champion within the next few years if you make a succesful return to darts?
With the current crop of quality players it will be tough for anyone to be world champion, my return to darts is to lift anyone of the many major titles on offer.

Where would you place Martin Adams in the PDC order of Merit?
Top 10 no problem

How many 9-dart finishes have you hit in your career?
20 plus, and 3 in official ranking events.

Tony Green or Sid Waddel?
Sid

Favorite Checkout?
121

Favorite double?
All of them if they go in, but double 16 lol.

Any darting superstitions?
Ye dont believe haters or the papers.

What would you do to keep calm before a match?
I am seeing a sports shrink and hypnotherapist but I would rather not say what were working on.

Which dart player do you believe has the best walkon?
Jamie Harvey's was the best at Blackpool

Do you think Paul Nicholson has copied your bad boy image ?
No I dont have a gimmick or image I am just me and my previous has made me out as a bad boy, Paul has created his own brand and image.

Can you remember the highest amount of 180's you have scored in a match?
I think I have a record in a best of match in super league, I won 3-0 and hit 5 180's

You don't know if you don't ask Tooze! I thought they were pretty legitimate questions.
