BoxNation - Will You Be Subscribing Now?
First topic message reminder :
After a few weeks and seeing the fights they are getting have they changed your mind on what you are going to do?
I must say, the channel is a must for any Boxing fan by the look of the fights they are getting, far, far better than what Sky put on. You do get your Warren bills, but it does appear he's matching his fighters harder than usual, plus the Sauerland events which are generally very good, also the Top Rank bills they have been getting i.e Donaire, Cotto and Marg and they have Golden Boy on there side as well. Considering Sky only have Matchroom and a few others and the Pacqiaou's and Mayweather fights seemingly being on Primetime will you perhaps even be giving up Sky?
I was very skeptical at first, but fair play to the guys at BoxNation the fights have been terrific, I really like the idea of the small hall stuff.
I actually love Bunce's Boxing Hour more than Ringside, I mean you've got to say Bunce's undying passion for the sport is incredible, yes he witters but he's a character and for me Ringside lack that slightly. Although it may not be as sleek as Sky or as flashy but I prefer it. Far more down to earth, with Sky it feels like it's a bit business like and the way they talk doesn't interest me, I find BoxNation seems to talk a little bit more like us guys and find it more enjoyable.
So, what do you guys think and will you be subscribing?

I'll be subscribing. While I don't think it's great for the sport to be on a specialised channel, I do think it's better than being on a channel that doesn't really care about it any more and would rather hold a horrible prizefighter tournament every other week.

They put Donaire on TV their is no way Sky would have done that. All they need to do now is put Segura on TV and I'll give them £20 a month.

I'm a bit hard up at the minute. Is there any chance they could cut the subsciption to a fiver? And are they still going to put it through freeview?

It's still going to be on freeview for a tenner a month. It might take a while to get that up and running though because they haven't got it sorted with virgin yet.

You wonder whether as soon as it's subscription only the quality will suspiciously drop off very quickly......
I wouldn't think so because it's a monthly subscription not a twelve month contract so people would just cancel it. They need to keep the standard they have set. They have no real competition for fights. Sky are uninterested, Premier Sports tried it and felt it never worked and they just want to stick with British fights. Primetime because they are PPV need to go after the big fights with star names like Mayweather and Pacquiao. Boxnation have the market to themselves.

Still seem too pricey. It they halved it per month then I might consider it.
With that said i'm still paying £10 for ESPN... keep wondering the hell why.

I'm getting rid of ESPN and getting boxnation. £10 a month for what your getting isn't that much boxing isn't a cheap sport to follow. Downloading after the fights is another option.

Re: BoxNation - Will You Be Subscribing Now?
dont really think its pricey for what youre getting to be honest a tenner for a whole months worth of boxing or 15 quid to see one card...
especially seeing as some of the cards have been ppv worthy or rather ppv in america. if sky showed them it would be fine but theyre not so have to go with boxnation.

Re: BoxNation - Will You Be Subscribing Now?
I thought I would give Frank a call to see if we can get some freebies for the forum.
So I clicked onto the website to get a contact number to get me going.
Couldnt find one but I did find this. Its the FAQ section:
Is this the most halfarsed faq ever (it makes the 606v2 one look good!)?
It looks like it was written by someone who was having a really bad day!

Re: BoxNation - Will You Be Subscribing Now?
Yeah that's a terrible FAQ,
7.Is BoxNation only available through a Sky TV subscription?
You don't need to subscribe to Sky to get BoxNation.
Really, but surely you will have to subscribe to something if it isn't on freeview, bumholes.

its looks as though you can subscribe to it for an internet channel, which is good news. i dont have sky or even a tv for that matter, i just watch things online, so £10 a month to watch these matches without using a dodgy feed is worth while i reckon. certainly the better value than primetime.
