It's actually a very good film both as an adaptation of the book and in its own right. I'd finish all the books first then watch the film, but I liked the film and the books and have heard similar opinions from others as well.

I like the books, and I think if you enjoy the film you'll like the books which can go into more detail and has a bit more gruesome parts in it (although not as many as people sometimes make out.)
I think the first book is probably the best one, but the others are still good.

watched the film the other day: not bad at all. Good action, decent characters and some really emotional moments
tempted to buy and read the books now...
- Spoiler:
- the scene of Rue's death and Katnyss's subsequent salute to District 11 really got to me
tempted to buy and read the books now...

I have not seen the film yet, but I must be honest I was pretty suprised how addictive the books were, I am not a very dedicated reader, and tend only to read at tea break at work, but I actually ended up reading the book at home too.
I want to see the film, but I am a bit worried it won't live up to the books.

Am on the third book, read the first two in a little over three days. So good, really can't wait to read how it all ends
