Would I need to watch the first series to understand what's going on in the 2nd or will I just be able to start watching from the 2nd series without having to know everything from previous one?

You would probably need to watch the first season to get a real grip on it, but they'll probably do a recap at the start of the new season!

I was a bit worried halfway through, I thought we were heading into ridiculous territory, where the first season always managed to avoid. But I think my fears were averted, and I guess they had to do some of the slightly messy things to get it moving again after the season finale. All told I really enjoyed it and I'm hooked already.

I thought the way they covered the Estees/Carrie thing was good. I also picked up on Estees being in charge of the drone program, which means he's probably responsible for the death of Isa.

I thought this was covered in the first season. Didn't the vice-president order the strike when Issa was killed, but Estees was his deputy?

The VP ordered the strike if I remember correctly.

Was worried about this season being a huge anti-climax and just a money making exercise for everyone involved, however I was actually pleased with the opening episode but you can kind of see how it will unfold. I wonder how long it will take Carrie to remember the name Isa and then she will be all over tracking Brody down again.

I kept hearing this was going to be a sensational episode that would 'blow me' away but it was actually quite an anti-climax up until the end. It was obvious that recording was going to be found somewhere in this series after he left in that crack in the wall and then it disappeared.

Brody (in his position) would never be allowed into a top secret mission viewing room like that in real life. Also, I'm pretty sure that any communications sent out from the building would be intercepted and traced in such a top secret facility with state of the art security. The ending was of course tense but I'm sure he will have an excuse of 'they made me film it' or along those lines. I hear that Homeland is going to be continued and that Damien Lewis has signed a five year deal to continue playing Brody. This could be a long drawn out affair............... Its not been green-light for a third season in the states yet by Showtime, all that's happened is C4 have acquired the rights in the UK if it does get the go-ahead.

The contract for Damien Lewis is rumour only, though I find it unlikely they would make a commitment like that. If the 5yr contract is true then it would make more sense as a contract commitment to Showtime shows and not solely Homeland. Would seem a weird choice otherwise.

The viewing figures for the 3 episodes of season 2 are healthier than those of the first season which is positive but not unexpected. Though the decline each week of viewers should be watched with interest, especially over the next 4 episodes.

I'm hoping this series doesn't follow in the footsteps of the first series where the middle episodes just drag on with no real excitement and just going off topic with pointless scenes.

There's just been a car bombing in Beirut in real life. I think Homeland's depiction of Beirut is justified in my opinion. Couldn't of timed this story any better.....

As for last night's episode.....pure filler as I expected, all that stuff with the bomb-maker was ridiculous. At least Saul arrived back to show Carry the tape.

Homeland is going to just roll and roll for many series, typical American show that will continue to unfold but will eventually lose it's original sparkle. It's just a money making exercise from now on and the network know that and they will push the writers/producers for further action to prolong the story.

In real life, the story would be surely over as it currently stands. Saul would just take the video to Langley and Brody would be taken in for interrogation and dealt with secretly by the US Government.

They have no proof.

Brody could say it was filmed in Afghanistan. They have no idea he killed Walker, or the Tailor. They don't know he was going to blow up the VP.

All it does is allow Carrie in to the frame again.

Yer, I guess your right. I know he could just say that but it's hardly believable. Surely, Carrie will remember 'Isa' soon and then she will understand that what Brody was saying in the video tape was meant and that he indeed did want retaliation on the VP.

Always said it would go downhill the longer it went and although this season has got off to an okay start, I can already see the storylines becoming ridiculous and far-fetched. I'm sure they will make a tense, exciting end to the second series but sometimes you just got to say enough is enough and just be happy you've made an award winning show and made some cash in the process. Am I right?

I'm sorry but Homeland is going downhill.......fast!

I thought that episode was appaling last night. It was so obvious that he was going to phone Carrie and the scenes with his daughter are just pure filler and are excruciatingly boring.

I think they've been forced down a specific route now, it's the only way to prolong the show. Basically there going to interrogate Brody and turn him back onto their side, however they will tell him to carry on working for Abu Nazir and continuing working as a congressman, but in doing so, lead the US in nailing Abu Nazir somewhere down the line. At the end of the season there will be a situation where Brody has a 50/50 choice to make in finally bringing Nazir in and then it will probably go dark for series 3. The Walker side story will also just rumble on to keep other characters in the mix.

Homeland was one my favourite series but it's gone in a direction that's disappointed me. I hope it picks up but I can't see it.

I thought she was going to go up and sleep with him after she gave him what she believed to be her 'tell'. At least rekindling their affair would give him a false sense of security, and her passion for her job would be unquestionable that she put herself in that position again.

The fact they've gone down this route really doesn't make sense. Effectively she should be a bit part character now? They've got Brody. She's screwed up the operation, and she can't go back to the CIA.

What's everyone thoughts on how Homeland is turning out in this series. I was critical and pretty negative about the new series, especially after the hotel room episode when Brody got arrested and the direction they had gone down but I've actually been quite impressed how they've turned it around.

How has Abu Nazeer got into the US of A!?!? I can't ever imagine the number one terrorist shaving his beard off and 'hey presto' he gets his green card because he looks like a normal guy.

Anyone else get annoyed at Carrie? She really makes my blood boil mad

1st series was brilliant although I wish they had done just the one series with maybe Brody blowing him and everyone up in the vault.

Thought it was an excellent episode last night, really hotting up before the end of the series. So many stories unfolding and double crossing. I always thought Quinn was never just an analyst randomly bought onto the team, and more of an assassin or combat personnel who's more deeply involved. As soon as they thought they had 'Sandman' Abu Nazeer they were going to get rid of Brody.......and Carrie knows nothing.

I had my doubts about this series but they've certainly produced.

I thought last night's was the best of the series. I feared the worst when Nazir was revealed last week, as I thought this week would be him 're-programming' Brody, like he did at this stage of the first season.

I like the Quinn stuff, although I did think for a second he would be revealed to be the mole. Him being in Black Ops makes perfect sense, as Estes was adamant he was needed for the team. As well as being a security risk, Estes is possibly acting out of malice wanting Brody dead, as he did try to assassinate him along with the VP.

I'm guessing this 50/50 playing for the US/Nazeer is going to continue for next series. The pacemaker story is not possible. Is Brody going to be pushed forward, replacing Walden and labelled as the hero not only fighting abroad but also at home and thrust into being nominated for the President?

What does she know, that everyone else does not? They know Nazeer is in the country and they already knew Brody and Nazeer were close and have such a bond with each other because of Isa. Nazeer's a terrorist, nothing new..........

Are you referring to what's behind the door in terms of what Carrie knows? I expect Brody to become President (entirely possible, seeing as this is America) and therefore Nazeer has a close bond with the most powerful man amongst his enemy.

Hey John,

I fully expect Quinn to be behind the door and he's planning to kill her because she knows about the deal regarding Brody. Something tells me that Nazeer is going to save her.

I now know what you meant in terms of Carrie's knowledge. It's bloody complicated isn't it. I believe she will keep quiet about the VP because that will mean Brody being killed ASAP by Quinn. Although in reality, that's what is planned anyway as soon as Nazeer is caught but obviously Carrie does not know this. Saul should be on the case though now and joining the pieces together.

@Beer - Basically Nazeer will try to do what he did to Brody but to Carrie and brainwash her into believing in his cause. He has already begun this process in his one-on-one talk with her, so that is a possibilty. She has fallen in love with a man that believes in Nazeer's cause and therefore she could well end up following Brody to the other side or something along those lines. She knows her future at the CIA is in doubt too.

What is behind that door???? Homeland - Page 2 1347041234

Too much of it was obvious, and the ending doesn't leave much in the way of drama for the third season.
