Spring Classics Empty Spring Classics

Haven't actually seen any of the racing over the last few weeks (something to do with a 3 week old daughter), but I've at least seen a few results and news articles for this, what is normally my favourite time of the racing year.

So far:
Milan-San Remo: Won by Simon Gerrans out-sprinting a small breakaway group including Cancellara.
Gent-Wevelghem: Boonen winning a sprint from a depleted front group
Tour of Flanders: Boonen making his season by outsprinting Ballan and Pozzato. Bad news for Cancellara though, falling at the feed zone and breaking his collar bone.

This weekend, the carnage will be in full effect with the insanity that is Paris Roubaix. With a bit of luck, the rain, sleet and snow heading across Britain at the moment will make its way over to northern France to make it a classic race - the last few years have been a little too straightforward riding in dry and dusty conditions.

Some encouragement for British riders as well, with Wiggins having won Paris-Nice and Lizzie Armistead having taken the women's version of Gent-Wevelghen.

Big win for Boonen at Paris-Roubaix. According to reports he dominated.

Haven't had the chance to see much racing yet this season. Can't wait for the Giro tbh

Saw a bit of the highlights of Roubaix - Boonen absolutely dominated, breaking from a small group about 55km from the finish and soloing away to win by about 1:30.

Sky had a few guys in the chase group but they were unable to make significant in-roads into the deficit, and eventually Flecha was in the group contesting 2nd place.

Boonen could now put his feet up for the rest of the season and still consider it one of the best years of all time.
