That's right BB... lots of South Africans in Perth and also around me (a nice couple in my building always have a good chat with them about this or that) and in the more affluent suburbs on the other side of the Bridge. They always do well here and the lifestyle would be very similar to parts of SA I'd imagine. OK

Back to grinding my gears - when you hear some 14 y.o. with an awful voice make a complete hash of a classic song and all the (usually nasty) judges say - "that was beautiful.."

Come on - don't encourage poor performances! (I never watch those programmes... that's just the bloody ad!)

Was that the 'Abide with me' from the opening?

I remember the pundits swooning over it and yet i thought that it was the worst rendition i have ever heard of it.

There's an old episode of South Park with someone pretending to be Barbra Streisand singing on it. That's how she sounded.

Adele especially has be played to death here. I appreciated her at first but since the over playing, i have gone right off.

It grinds my gears when radio staions kill good music by over playing it to the point when nobody likes it anymore.

That's the big thing that really annoys me, plenty of tunes and artists I've really liked but eventually gone off because radio stations (particularly rubbish ones like BBC R1) overplay them massively. R1 has a couple of set play-lists, and A list and a B list from memory, from which the majority of their songs are picked to play. Given the list is pretty short you can guarantee hearing songs repeated on an hourly basis.

By the way, Biltong, me and a couple of mates of thinking of a trip to SA in November time, any tips on cheap flights? We'd probably be going to Cape Town (no offence) which always seems that bit more expensive than JoBurg where flights seem to be that little bit more affordable.

I have radio Veronica here in Holland but it can better be called radio Adele or Radio Robbie Williams as that is the extent of their playlists.

As well as being annoying as hell for the listener, it must be really frustrating for the DJs, having to play the same set songs all the time.

When I worked in Bristol, we used to listen to Heart FM in the office: the worst, most repetetive music station ever. They'd play 'Sex on Fire', 'I Just Haven't Met You Yet' by Michael Buble, 'Hey Soul Sister' by Train and that godawful 'I'm Yours' song by Jason Mraz every hour without fail, but what made it worse was that the station's motto was "More Music Variety"! tomato

I listen to Radio 2 at work and one the way to and from work as well. They have a playlist, but what's supremely annoying is that even if you switch off the radio when an annoying song starts, you still end up singing it in your head! steam

What grinds my gears is when people make a quick assesment of a person (without knowing them) based on a few seconds of seeing them.

Yesterday Katie won Ireland a medal in boxing and at the medal presentation the Russian fighter she beat looked very down. Now some people are calling her a really bad sport but what they fail to realise is that this girl gave her all, was beaten in an Olympic final and was understandably upset. We get a small window into her life on that medal ceramony at possibly her worst moment in life and people are claiming she is a bad sport. This really grinds my gears.

Nothing worse than over tentative drivers. There are a lot of chicanes and speed humps near me where the road narrows. It's a case of first come first serve. If I see some someone shivering & dithering I just go for it. I love to see the shocked look on their faces.

Then I give the quick hand wave as if to say - "the King has passed... glad you know your place you tiny underling" Smile

There was a trailer on the BBC yesterday for a programme called Meet The Watkins. (I'm sure it'll be dreadful, but that's neither here nor there). Now can someone please tell me when it was that people stopped using the plural? The plural of bus is buses; the plural of Williams is Williamses (trust me, I'm a Williams); the plural of Watkins is Watkinses.

Is there no quality control at the BBC any more, or are they all thick as sh!t?
