First topic message reminder :

well after the terrible frustrating long ball defend defend mcleash season ,villa have now a good prospect in Paul Lambert .  when Martin oNeil left i was at first gutted like many villa fans but then when u add up all the average players he bought  along with high wages then u can see why learner decided enough was enough .so Martin walked out .  next come along gerard houllier  a few weeks late in the season . lots of villa fans didnt take to him  because of the early results but i liked the way we played under him and when he bought Darren bent and the players settled in his style of play we rocketed up the league .even  beating Liverpool in revenge after that 4  nil  beating and his  infamous badly chosen words that didnt sit well with villa fans .poor health parted another manager . then come Alex .no more needs to be said on that .   so now we have Paul . a few good signings come in and i for one now feels we can compete  in cup games and perhaps a eighth position in league .

It would have been the perfect weekend if Burnley hadn't turned over Man City, just didn't see that coming.

Hopefully we can continue this form and get the win on saturday.
After Swansea, we have a tough April.

Man Utd a
QPR h
Spurs a
Man City a.

Might lose to the Manchester clubs, but hoping for a win against QPR, maybe a draw v Spurs. Sherwood back at his old club.

Will be interesting to see how we get on against the Manchester clubs under Sherwood.

Not played any of the 'big guns' under him yet.

Thought our good little run of game would continue against Swansea.
A win would have been huge.

Goint to be a tough run in now.
Games coming thick and fast.

Easter saturday man utd a
Then on the tuesday QPR h, must win.
on the saturday Spurs a
then the cup semi final
Then we end the month away to Man City.

Into may

Everton h
West Ham h
Saints a
Burnley h

If we can get 10 points(at least) from our final 8 games, we would finish on 38 points, hopefully that will be enough to keep us up.

We shall see.

Massive game tonight. Am getting nervous.
Must win, point does not really help.

QPR had a great result on saturday and will be confident.
Can see us losing, but think we will just win 2-1.

A win and we go 5 points clear.

C'mon Villa lets get a win, with a good performance to.

I thought we might get a point.

Said 4 points this month would be good and we have got them.

Think 4 more points will be enough now.

Benteke is on fire.

Sherwood getting the best out of the players.

Hull, Sunderland losing, was another bonus.

Onwards and upwards.

Sherwood has just about done it for you, he's done the same with Benteke that he did with Adebayor. You now look better than the 5 below you and the baggies run in is horrific too.

Twists and turns to go but, you buggers, you're probably out of the reach of us hoops now.

Alright RC.

Hell of a game last tuesday.

Yeah Sherwood has been good to say the least.
Christ even Gabby looks a different player since he came in.

The plus side for us is, there are teams below us who have to play each other, so points will be dropped.

of our remaining 5 games, 3 are at home which is a bonus.

I think the 3 at this stage to go will be Hull, Sunderland and one from QPR, Leicester & Burnley

All I keep hearing (all bloody season) is that Leicester, us and Burnley just need to keep doing what we're doing and trust etc etc. None of us win enough so I think it'll be us 3 to go back down. Hull & Sunderland are terrible and the baggies run in might keep it interesting to the end though.

I think we've only got a maximum 7 points possible (might be able to draw at home with West Ham, hopeful of beating Newcastle and have to beat Leicester away last day). Nowt coming from trips to middle eastlands or Anfield even with the rose coloured gigs on!

Well a cup final. 15 year wait.

Didn't expect that at the start of the season.

Great stuff today.
Need to make sure we stay up now.
Back to concentrate on the league.

Very tough game next saturday against City.

Feel we will stay up.

Look forward to the 30th.

Great stuff today villa.

Benteke again.

Sherwood doing a good job.

I don't want to sound negative, but do you feel having Europe next season could see you massively struggling next season, because it's likely you will again be near the bottom.

Not likely, Villa forays into the Europa/UEFA cup tend to end in the qualifying round.  Normally against Rapid Vienna.

I thought they had changed the qualifcation for the UEFA and only cup winners went in, think the extra place reverts to the league rather than the cup runners up. Might be wrong, don't care either way, am still basking in the semi final glory.

Very bad, shouldn't be conceding 6 to anyone.

Heard Vlaar & Okore were shocking.

Need to strengthen central defence in the summer.

Villa been on cloud 9 for a while, needed this reality check. If anything, just shows with your owner not willing to spend, you're going to need to sell Benteke & actually allow Sherwood to build a squad, capable of not being dragged into another relegation fight next year.

We have a couple of buyers lined up, so i've heard.

Hopefully whoever it is,  will spend.
We certainly don't need to sell Benteke and should'nt sell our best player, if the money is there to invest in new players.
Sherwood will have a few in mind no doubt. Has already said Benteke not going anywhere(although we have heard that before with players).
If the above happens, can look forward to the 2015/16 season.
Lets build on what we have got, get rid of the likes of Hutton, Senderos, Bennett, Sanchez.

POTS - Delph
YPOTS - Grealish.

GOTS, between Delph's in the semi final
Benteke's v Man Utd at VP
Gil's v Bournemouth.

Will be decided after Burnley game.

From those 3 I would go with

Benteke
Gil
Delph.

Other notable mention's (for me)
Tekkers v Palace
Cleverly v Everton
Bacuna v Leicester (cup)
Benteke v QPR (3rd goal).

Well after a good start to the season, it was a bad end.

Hopefully we spend well in ther summer andf get rid of a couple of players.
Hope Benteke will stay.

Not to many highs this season, staying up, getting rid of Lambert.
Benteke's goals that kept us up.

Some good results when Sherwood came in and some bad ones, Saints away and the poor showing on saturday.

Next season may well be another relegation battle, but hope we can push on a bit.

So onto the summer ins and out.

Looks like we might be getting Richards on a free.

What i hope is the likes of Hutton, Sylla, Weimann, Cissoko leave.

See how Bennett & Kozak do in pre season.
Am hoping Gardner stays injury free. Gets in the team, as i feel he will do very well.

So, just a few days till the start of another season.

Veretout, Amavi, Gueye, Bunn, Richards, Gestede, Ayew, Crespo.

Hopefully these guys will settle in and gel well asap.
If they do, then think we will do ok this season, may even smoke a few teams.

If they don't and find the premiership tough, as a team, we could once again find ourselves in the joys of a relegation dog fight.

Talk of Adebayor and Berbatov on the way.
Hopefully Tim can get them all playing well.

Obviously a big loss without Tekkers and Delph.

Looking forward to the new season and saturday.
Gutted that Villa will be playing less than 5 miles from where i live and i wont be able to go.

Anyway I think/hope we will be ok this season

Gabby is poor, but Sherwood likes him.

I'd give Kosak a run. Got some goals in pre season. You know what you'll get with Gabby and it just isn't enough. Kosak is a big unit, get Traore fit and with him and Grealish on the wings we'd at least pose an aerial threat you'd think.

Yeah Traore to come back with his pace.
Kozak looked good pre season.

Guzan

Hutton Richards lescott amavi
Westwood. Gueye
Gil grealish Sinclair
Gestede.

Subs

Bunn. Clarke. Traore. Veretout. Gabby. Kozak. Bacuna.

If everyone fit, would be my team.

Would not argue too much with that, would probably have Traore in for Gil, am also intrigued to see how the kid we signed from Liverpool looks at the back. He can apparently play anywhere across the back line so may be an alternative to Hutton. Pity we do not have stronger options in the net. Guzan has started this season quite poorly.

With Sherwood walking a tight rope, a few games to save his job.

Next 6 games (till end of november).

Chelsea a
Swansea h
Spurs a
Man City h
Everton a
Watford h

Tough games ahead.
Probably lose to Chelsea, despite their poor form.
Then he may just have Swansea game to save his job.

Rogers is being touted around.

Who would Villa fans want if he does get the chop?

Not to sure who else is out there. Available at the moment.

Personally I would like to see him stay and turn the club around.

Don't actually mind the guy.
Just felt he's making a few poor decisions, player wise.

Just feel he may not have much time left.

Such is the way football is nowadays.

Sell your two best players that helped you avoid relegation in the previous season then sack the manager that turned around Villa's fortune to keep them up. Perfect recipe for relegation. But I suppose the players wanted out & it was difficult to stop them. Randy Lerner generally a good bloke put the club up for sale in May 2014 & hasn't found an appropriate buyer. In the meantime what is happening to Villa?

I certainly think we have the players to keep us up.

Some are just under performing.

Rudy is doing well considering he is not totally fit.
Veretout is looking decent last few games.
Gueye has done well so far.

I think our best player is Gil.
Played him on the bench, dont think he is fully fit either, same with young Jack.

Word is that Guzan will be off in january, or at least dropped for a new keeper(Lorris from Mainz), something like that, never heard of him, but the scouts have been looking at him.

As i said would like to see Tim stay and do well.

As Dolph says Lambert had a couple of years.

Players have to go out onto the pitch, play for the shirt and give it the 100.

It must be unsettling for all those at the club in knowing that the chairman has been trying to sell the club for 16 months now. Aston Villa over the past few years have been there and there abouts with regard to relegation. Losing your two best team players ... well without knowing much else I had Aston Villa as strong favorites for relegation. Would it be disastrous if Villa were relegated? Certainly Lerner would have to drop the asking price.

I thought this year Southampton would finally flounder - they keep selling key players each year - but somehow they have a system that starts from the top (the owners) that allows them to keep doing well (pushing above their weight in my opinion).

Would certainly be disastrous for me.

Ok so we are just hovering around the bottom 3, struggling.

It seems very difficult to come back up from the championship.
Probably the most competative league out of the top 4.

I dont think we would come back up in a hurry.

Relagation would be something new for me.

Been following Villa since the late 80's
Since we were promoted to the old first division at the end of the 87/88 season, we have remained in the top flight of english football.

I would like it to stay that way.

Its been tough being a Villa fan since MON left.

Some poor football on show, bad signings.

Signing Benteke was a big highlight.

Am quite happy with the signings we have made in the summer, but as i keep banging on, they need to step up.

Lets start tomorrow.

The days of finishing in the top 6/8 are sadly only a distant memory.

Will be some time before that happens again.

Least he will get game time.

Thought he could have gone to a championship club though.
