A better forum experience
Hi all,
Just thought I would drop you all a reminder of other things going on at v2.
Many of you rarely venture out of your preferred sports sections but we do have other great discussions going on else where as well.
Make sure you take time to check out the non sport sections of the forum and get that chat going as well. (Its on the home page at the bottom! or you can click here!
From the latest movie releases to musical diversions, its a nice diversion from the sports chat at times (and make sure to check out my ongoing blog to meet Axl Rose - https://www.606v2.com/t30184-the-beginning-of-a-musical-journey)
Also, the v2 Journal is getting more and more hits each month (July already beating every other month) - some exclusive stuff on their you might not see on the forum. There is a link on the navigation bar at the top of this forum but here is the link for everyone one more time - http://v2journal.com/index.html
As the viewers for the Journal pick up, we need to get more writers, so if you want to write about something and get it published, please let me know!
So enjoy the other sections of the forum (and Journal) and let us know if there is anything you would like to see.

Adam - as per my post yesterday, it would be good to hear what's happening concerning the v2 Hall of Fame that you kicked off in April. An initiativel many of us supported at the time.

If you'd like an article on the rowing at the Olympics I think I could write one

Adam good shout. I've branched out into other sections as a result of this post. Well done.

Off topic or current affairs can be worth a browse. Would benefit from a few more posters stirring the pot!

Re: A better forum experience
To be honest Adam, I occasionally do post there with maybe a film or tv program I have watched recently but get hardly no opinions back, I get the impression that unless its about something in the mainstream or a big blockbuster that has come out that everyone is talking about no one wants to talk about any other stuff.
(Im not much of a mainstream guy, give me a indie or a low budget film anyday of the week, much more compelling and always better plots)

Second that.
Current affairs often has some quite juicy debate topics but tends to die quite quickly due to lack of posters, similarly off-topic can be quite quiet although Travel has had some nice stuff in it recently.

Re: A better forum experience
I'd love to see the travel section get a few more posters involved.
There has already been some fascinating debate held there, with some very knowledgeable, well travelled members contributing.
Whether you have travelled exclusively within your own country, or are a round the world globetrotter, it'd be great if you shared your experiences.

Re: A better forum experience
Just as a general point it would be great if the Olympics section was put higher up on the page over the next couple of days.

I've just set up an Olympucs based but not dependent "Guide to London for Visitors" thread in the travel section. Please add if you are from London or if you are visiting and have a question!

Guys
For your information, the Travel section has now been relocated and you will find it in the 'General Discussion' part of the front page of this site.
Hopefully this will encourage its wider use, and make it easier for those like Kwini who didn't have a clue how to find it
I look forward to your input.
Cheers

Cheers bud.
Yeah, it is something I'm not always 100% sure about myself...and can vary from time to time. It'll be interesting to see the thoughts of others.

Re: A better forum experience
Guys, as most of my fellow rugby posters on here are aware, I not technically gifted when it comes to using the interweb and other such things, although I am constantly learning there is always room for improvement, so the question I have is this, what is this new journal thing everybody is on about, and what is it for ? Also, what is it with all these new positions for people ? I understand what an administrator is and a founder and a moderator, but what is a writer and a v2journal. I have been on here since this site opened, more or less, so I would like to be able to use it better than I am now. Cheers in advance LD.

V2journal is our sister site where people can pen articles on a variety of sports or entertainment if they choose to do so. I'm a writer for it as you can tell by the badge: http://v2journal.com/index.html

Yes, but what does it do that this forum cannot do ?

Re: A better forum experience
Have you looked at it? It presents articles in a clearer, more porfessional way. It also helps organise press passes and another things for events. For anyone who is interested in writing or a career in journalism something like this is a good start

Exactly A fantastic opportunity to present articles to a hopefully wider audience.

Re: A better forum experience
Think of it this way.
Lets say you were a pro sports player - wouold you be more likely to give a interview to a forum or a sports magazine? Are you more likely to Retweet a magazine article or a forum page?
As people have said - it gives the forum a more professional look.
On a side note, the articles have sound files and videos embedded in some of them - in other words, you can listen to full interviews on the journal.

Re: A better forum experience
The Journal is kinda completely slow quite opposite to the forum, while forum is loading at electric speed the journal is loading at just better than snail's pace, r u guys running that in different server to this one? may be you guys have to work on the load speed of the journal

Re: A better forum experience
Not sure if this belongs in here but can anyone sort out the problem whereby: you wish to reply to a post, realise that you're logged out, log in and you are returned to the main page as opposed to where you were and you have to search and drill down all over again.
Wouldn't normally be a problem with auto login but for some reason I often find myself logged out even though it's set. Probably my laptop.

I'm getting a 'no posts specifeid' response every time (except this time hopefully) I try and post this morning. It's happened a few times recently and has been getting more and more frequent. Is the issue on my side?
