2012 UK Championship
Draw here under the column "Last 32":
http://www.prosnookerblog.com/calendar/201213-drawsheets/uk-championship-2012-tournament-draw/
Or alternatively:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_UK_Championship_%28snooker%29
Couple of crackers in the first round such as Day v Ding, Dott v Gould and Bingham v Lisowski. I can definitely see Gouldie winning v Dott. Also a welcome return to TV for Hitman Holt; it's been a while
Luca Brecel will be hoping to make an impact against Ricky Walden but the winner should play MJW which is a scary prospect.
Potential Winners? The big guns probably: Higgins, Trump, Selby and Robbo. My outside tip is Stephen Maguire but I can't see a winner coming from outside those 4. I think Higgins is now the man everyone wants to avoid, like Ronnie previously was, and is in some good form so will be very difficult to stop.
Honorable mentions to Steve Davis who plays Ali Carter, Premier League Champion Stuart Bingham who is playing the snooker of his life and Christopher "Dominic" Dale because he's wonderful.
Round 1
Trump 6-5 Joyce
Carter 6-2 Steve Davis
Bingham 6-2 Lisowski
Maguire 6-2 O'Brien
King 6-3 Williams
Walden 5-6 Brecel
Gould 5-6 Dott
Murphy 6-3 Milkins
Higgins 6-4 Holt
Mark Davis 6-1 Yupeng
Stevens 6-1 Dale
Allen 3-6 Fu
Robertson 6-1 Ford
Hawkins 6-4 Wenbo
Ding 4-6 Day
Selby 6-3 White
Round 2
Joyce 2-6 Carter
Bingham 6-4 Maguire
King 4-6 Brecel
Dott 2-6 Murphy
Higgins v Davis
Stevens 6-4 Fu
Robertson 6-2 Hawkins
Day 4-6 Selby
Quarter Finals
Carter 6-4 Bingham
Brecel 5-6 Murphy
Davis 6-4 Stevens
Robertson 6-4 Selby
Semi-Finals (Best of 17)
Carter 8-9 Murphy
Davis 4-9 Selby
Final (Best of 19)
Murphy v Selby

Very bold prediction!! If Higgins doesn't win, MJW is my second choice because he's just fantastic and completely mad.

Just think that he is going to bow out after this and a win would be the perfect send off. He hasnt got a bad record at the UK's

Re: 2012 UK Championship
You never know Kenny. There are harder 1st round draws than Ali, although it really depends which Ali turns up because if he stays well enough for long enough he's a top 8 player easy. It gets a bit harder for Steve v Judd but he can be dealt with with safety play.
Hoping for a Lisowski v Judd QF actually if Mags doesn't make it. What's better than when friends become enemies?

Actually I'd like this take this moment to mention some of the players who won't be there.
Cope, Perry, Ebdon, McLeod, Higginson and, most tragic of all, Ken.

Re: 2012 UK Championship
I'll pump for Stuart Bingham. Very impressive in the League- untouchable almost.
We get it live here all week starting tonight during the All Blacks match. Cant believe Sky is taking this whole tournament in live all of a sudden.
Coooool.

Jaysus, did Trump lose...
Never expected that. Its all looking good for an MJ win
That said, the walking hair weave (Selby) will probably win.

Neither was I but I've warmed to him over the years. He's a bit too smug sometimes though.
Fu 1-0 v Allen. Amazing to think Marco's not in the Top 16 these days.

Re: 2012 UK Championship
He was heavily involved in the half-marathon a lot of the snooker players did which was cool.
Lisowski - I like him. 1 up v Bingers and in the balls. As I type this he misses
What's with this new bow tie? I hate it!!

Bingham through 6-2 and cueing brilliantly. He'll be a difficult man to stop and Mags will be the next man to try but I fancy Bingham to win that one. Now that JT's out, there's an opportunity for Stuart

Well Allen wanted a rivalry with Trump, he's matched him in going out in the 1st round. It's opening up for Higgins.....

Re: 2012 UK Championship
Marco played his best snooker and not many can stop him when he does that. As for the towel, I thought Mark had thrown it at Marco when he was taking a shot but, as it turns out, the frame was well over and it was a bit of "banter" as Marco threw it back at him.

Ok, fair enough. I was a bit worried that Allen had another brain fart.
I do like watching Fu when he is on form though.

Re: 2012 UK Championship
Disappointing that Trump lost but he played really poorly.
Robertson cueing well so far, Ford made a good break in the 2nd frame but just ran out of position at the end and Robertson made him pay.
That's quite unlucky though, round the angles off the blue to try and go into the pack and he's knocked the pink in! Couldn't do that in 100 attempts even if you tried.

Robertson through 6-1 with 4 centuries and a 74. Long potting as good as always, and breakbuilding has really come on: without a relatively straightforward missed red it would have been 6-0. Ford looked like he'd rather be somewhere else after the first 3 or so frames.

Re: 2012 UK Championship
I wonder what was up with Christopher Dale. He was beaten 6-1 by "Matchu" Stevens (who is/was cueing wonderfully) but he looked absolutely dreadful. Wonder if he had shingles or something.

Don't you mean Dominic Dale?
He looked a bit rough, it's a possibility but he's not really a great player in any case.

He was born Christopher Dale but, for some reason, changed his name to Dominic Dale. He was a good player in his day, 2 ranking event titles and a great voice (plus some awesome shirts!!)

For tonight's matches, I fancy two upsets. I really like Ricky and MJW but MJW is in pretty dreadful form and Luca might be up for this. Still, come on Ricky and MJW!!
