TUF 18
Airs here in september i heard.
Be a decent season i reckon.
135lb men and for the first time woman in the competition. 135lb.
Ronda Rousey & Miesha Tate the coaches.
Tate is only coaching because Zingano who she lost to, to see who would be Rousey's oposing coach sufferd a knee injury.
Cant stand Rousey to be honest.
Yes she's attractive and a quality fighter, but hope Tate beats her.
Think Tate is pretty hot to.
Hoping it will be on ESPN.

The in house antics are certainly gonna be interesting for this one! Do you know how many fighters each team is going to have?

Re: TUF 18
Not sure.
At a gues I would say there would be 8 on each team(4 men, 4 woman).
Now on Fox Sports 1.
Probably gonna have to wait till the box set.

Yeah, BT had the Sonnen card on saturday night.
Have Virgin, with sky sports.
As of end of last week, message popped up saying we now have BT & ESPN at no extra cost.

Rousey & Tate as coaches, very explosive.

Just finished watching it as well, enjoyed it, as you say some good fights & some not so. Good to see it was quite an international selection. I was impressed with the women, considering its only recently getting the exposure & doesn't have the same length of history as male mma, the future is looking good.
Yeah I thought the same 2 fights & your in the final. Dana seems pretty mellow so far.
Good to see it back after the disappointment of Bellators fight master.

Just watched it.
Decent enough first episode.
The format is the same as having 2 weight classes.
2 fights to the final, instead of 3.
Looks like its going to be a decent season.
Already 2 guys I dont like, Tate's first and last picks.
First fight looks like it could be a good one.

i liked the way rousey called out tates first pick with her own, could back fire but got a feeling tates first pick was with her heart and not her head. could mean that some of the fights later on could be one sided

Re: TUF 18
Just watched episode 2 and it didn't disappoint, the fight was good but the stand up aspect technique wise not the best. Rousey seems to get worse by the episode and I don't think this is just for the cameras. I think she has it to be a good coach and definitely a good motivator but I don't think she's a very nice person.

Re: TUF 18
Just watched episode 2.
- Spoiler:
- I thought the fight was good but as stated above, striking technique is something the ladies need to work on. I was made up when Juilianna won. She was full of respect for Shayna prefight whereas Shayna believed that Julianna didnt belong in the same cage as her, I believe that in not respecting her opponent enough was her downfall. Not only did she get beat, she got subbed aswell. I was made up when Tim Gorman had to leave. He was gratting on me already as is Rhonda.

Re: TUF 18
- Spoiler:
- I did wonder if Shayna had to cut a lot of weight to actually fight in the series as well as the fight itself, she is huge, big upper body & legs as well as I think she gassed, her body language at the end of the 1st and that she didn't fight with the same intensity in the 2nd, also the strikes landed seemed to really effect here. I felt had it gone to a 3rd rd a stoppage against her was on the cards. I must say I didn't think that Juilianna was was gonna be able to sub her, I thought defo she had to keep it standing but fair play to her. I have to say I really don't like Rousey and it was cringeworthy to see her macho strut as she strutted alongside Shayna to the ring, also a bad bad loser, no need to have a go at Miesha because she was happy at her fighter winning and then dissing her decision to pick a guy with an injury, why not? Its all about tactics, Rousey would've done the same! Interesting to see how things pan out now as her psychological game backfired, thats gonna have some effect on the whole team & put on the pressure.

just caught up myself, glad i wasn't the only one who spotted rouseys ring walk, what on earth was she doing!!
before this ive never minded rousey and thought she came across alright, quickly change since the start of this, and now want tate team to do well. was also very glad juilanna won, the other fighter was a boobie. didnt expect the result but got a little bit more confident when shayna was whinging about not being picked by the ufc and kept getting over looked. had to be a reason and its simply because shes not good enough no matter how much talking she did. her record isnt great either.
funny the way rousey spat her dummy out about everything afterwards, smiling at my girls pain and whinging at picking out a injured fighter were two of the stupider comments.
tate 1 rousey 0 and not just in terms of the fights

Never been a fan of Rousey.
Every time I see her I dislike her more.
Very disrespectfull.
Very bad attitude.
Great that Julianna won, the other girl was so arrogant.
Hope Chris? wins, to keep team Tate on top.
Normally like it to be close, but this is one season wouldnt mind seeing Tate's team storm to victory, just to urine off Rousey more.
Then to top it off, Hope Miesha beats her when they fight.

Re: TUF 18
That's because she has been carefully marketed. The UFC are looking to expand women's mma and when Rousey came along they appeared to have their flagship 'poster' girl. A judo olympian who can fight and now considered hot. She's had a good makeover, is well groomed but underneath the glam & the make up she's a pretty ugly person & bitchy. It would take some incredible editing to show only her 'good' side in the TUF.compelling and rich wrote:just caught up myself, glad i wasn't the only one who spotted rouseys ring walk, what on earth was she doing!!

I would love to see Tate beat her.
This fight on thursday's episode, could be good.
Gonna be confident that Tate's guy will win.
Looks a good fighter.
Felt a bit sorry for Gorman, dont like seeing guys leave due to injury, even though he was annoying.
Rousey is not doing herself any favours with her attitude and will lose alot of fans through this show.

So Team Tate goes 2-0 up. Good stuff.
Holdsworth looks a good fighter, could go on and win the contract.
Rousey's coach seems like a jacka55 aswell.
I dont know how good a coach Carroway is, proably just there because Miesha is his girlfriend.
Good to see Master Thong there, was enjoyable to watch on the Team Cruz-Team Faber season.
The next fight, I expect it to go 3-0.

I happy with Team Tate winning at the moment, but I want the Brit lads to win on Rhonda's team.
I havent got a very good opinion of Carroway, with the whole twitter thing and also seeing him literatly cacking his pants on TUF 14 when he had to fight Diego Brandao.

Is he the bald headed one with the sunken eyes on team Tate, the one having a go at Penna? Got to agree on Rousey's coach being a dick, the pair of them are as bad as each other, they do the sport & series no justice in that respect but it'll make for good tv & ratings.westisbest wrote:Only person I really want to lose is that Cody Dillenger(sp)

Fight its self wasn't that great neither seemed to have great timing or have worked their distances out that well, although obviously Holdsworth eventually got it right and finished the fight well. Beale was a letdown, for all the talk of his great standup, punching power & explosiveness we saw nothing, injury or no injury the result would have been the same. Good to see Rousey lose another fight. Next week should be interesting, grappler vs boxer again and both seemed decent in prelims.

It was a good emotive episode last night. Am enjoying the new format and setup of the show. Edmond Tarverdyan is an absolute pleb. I would have loved to seen Hallman chicken him out there and then. They should defo make a match between Tarverdyan and Carraway!
I felt sorry for Roxanne at the end of the fight, thats three women vets that havent made it into the semi's. Roxy and Jessica both deserved to be there. That fight also should have been stopped a good 20 seconds earlier.

Re: TUF 18
Agree 100% about Tarvedyan, just a waste.
Think he would destroy Carroway.
Also he has said sorry, they need to get over it.
Its the fight game, people say stuff like that all the time.
Was a good fight, yeah felt a bit sorry for Roxanne, seems a good person.
Jessica has good striking.
Also felt it could have been stopped after Roxanne was slammed.
She didnt look like she was getting up.
Next weeks fight, I feel David will have an seasy(ish) win against louis?
I can then see the tide turn in Team Rousey's favour as I think they ahve the better fighters remaining. (Although that does'nt mean they will win).
Have enjoyed this season so far.

As I thought, David pretty much ran through Louis.
Looks a decent fighter.
Next week Jessamyn v Raquel, could go either way.
For the final 2 men fights, would like to see:
Wooton bt Cody
Josh bt Anthony.
That would leave it, 2 male fighters from both teams.

I have to say i was not convinced by Louis, from the outset he seemed to lack confidence and I don't think he generally believed he could win. David looked bigger and a lot stronger, his punches & kicks really seemed to hurt Louis and I feel Louis just crumbled and was surprised he lasted as long as he did.

Re: TUF 18
Great fight last night.
Back and forth, going to a third round.
Delighted with the outcome.
Rousey once again doing herself no favours, putting the middle finger up to Miesha when she came to shake Jessamyn's hand, saying great fight, and to the coaches.
Probably my least favourite coach of all time,
Next week's fight Michael v Josh.
Wanted those 2 to avoid each other, as they seem good blokes.
Want team Tate to win the whole show, but would'nt mind who wins this one.
That leaves Cody v Anthony, who is a clown imo.
Not a fan of Cody either, but would rather see him win.

Re: TUF 18
Just watched the last episode and enjoyed the fight, best women's fight so far but have to say i was a little surprised at the result, I really thought they'd give it to Jessamyn based on her output in the final round. I think it was the case of quality over quantity, Pennington's punches having more effect. Jessamyn's height & reach advantage certainly showed in the fight but there was a lack of snap & power in her strikes which probably cost her the fight. Ultimately I want team Tate to win but I've been pretty neutral apart from the 1st fight, wanting a Tate win but then striker over grappler or Brit over yank/canadian. I take it Cody vs Anthony is the biggest fight of the mens?

She really is not doing herself any favours this season.
Well done to Wooton on winning the fight.
Josh did'nt look impressive at all. Missing that spinning fist really cost him the fight.
Wooton taking him down and dominating him.
Last 2 fights
Like to see Sara win, that will make it 3-1 team Tate for the woman.
Would like to see Cody win. Don't like that Anthony bloke.
If Cody does win, the 2-2 in the mens going into the semi's.
Dana missed a poster, thought that was funny, he thought he had got them all.
Have to say think Rousey has better coaches.
What she was showing them on the ground was impressive.
Edmond as much as I don't like him think he does his job well.
Notice Manny Gamburyn from season 5 is there to.
Team Tate
Dont think Miesha is a good a coach as Ronda.
Master Tong is a decent coach, Hallman is still still there I think.
Carroway who I just would'nt be confident in if i was there.
The other guy just seems average.

As much as I'm beginning to dislike Rousey I do rate her as a coach and I agree she has a good coaching team around her, that floor work was excellent. Also have to agree with you on the coaching abilities of Team Tate, really for me they offer nothing.
The fight itself was probably the worst of the series and those spinning backfists were terrible, I don't think I've ever seen one performed well, its something for the movies or old style kata style karate. Glad Josh lost to be honest it means he cant ruin another fight and another brit goes forward, despite being on the 'wrong' team.

all geared up for two fight episode and cody doesnt even try to make weight!
the womens fight was very close to being stood up, just lay there for a while, but soon as she got top position she soon opened up and knew it wouldn't be long after that

CODY BOLLINGER
ex Team Tate
Nice little touch that!
Just goes to show that TUF can be the making or the breaking of a fighter. Apparently he's mostly fought at 145 so maybe it was a big ask to make 135, he certainly didn't look like he could lose anymore weight, but maybe he hadn't been watching his food & drink intake throughout the series.
The other fight was ok, I didn't expect sarah to win to be honest, stand up I thought her movement was bad and that she was slow, the in & out tactics not gonna work for her just as well she got it to the ground. Looking forward to the semi's, Both fights gonna be good, pretty sure David(?) beats Anthony but the other is gonna be closer.
