First topic message reminder :

Hi folks, just wondering if there are any song lyrics you've misheard, where you've thought the singer was singing one thing and he / she was actually singing another. I'll start with two (I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them at the moment). There was a one-hit wonder in the '90s / 2000s called 'How Bizarre'. I always thought he was singing, 'how was I?' The other is from 'Roll Over Beethoven'; I thought the line was 'roll over Beethoven until Chai cops hear the news' (I don't know who I thought 'Chai cops' were) and I've only recently realised that it's 'and tell Tchaikovsky the news.'

Apparently Michael Stipe knew how much his lyrics got analysed and pored over for meaning that he used to just write the odd song that meant absolutely nothing and was just random words thrown together devoid of meaning or message just to screw with people.

I reckon he was just stoned, building towered foresight isn't anything at all.

Apparently John Lennon had a similar intent when he wrote 'I am the Walrus'. He'd heard that some schools were studying Beatles lyrics, or something like that.

I listened to 'Israelites' by Desmond Dekker and the Aces last night. A couple of the verses are impenetrable. I'm sure he sings 'trousers are go' in one of them.

Me and the wife both came up with incorrect lyrics on Saturday.  We were driving along, listening to the The Black Keys when it came to Gold On The Ceiling.  At which point, she starts singing "Gold on the ceiling.  I ain't blind, just a matter of time.  Florida's healing".  So I ask her, what are you taking about you crazy horse?  What does "Florida's healing" even mean?  I told her the lyric was "Floor to Ceiling" and to get a grip of herself.

I googled it out of curiosity this morning as they are not all that clear and apparently the lyric is "Gold on the ceiling.  I ain't blind, just a matter of time.  Before you steal it".

I don't think she will have bothered looking so I will keep it to myself.
