why are people called trolls on internet

I think the word troll gets used to often
to describe people who write comments
we cant agree with everyone.

A troll isn't someone who you simply disagree with, a troll is someone who comes on the internet specifically for attention and to wind people up.

The boxing board has a couple, Truss, Az etc... They argue for the sake of arguing, rather than actually believing what they are saying.

A few on the rugby board. Sometimes though it is difficult to tell what are genuinely held opinions, what are humerous wind-ups (generally everyone slagging the English) and what are just unremitting trollery.

The general rule with internet trolls: Don't feed them, and they will leave.

There used to be a poster on old 606 called 'Billy Goat Gruff' who only posted 'Don't Feed the Trolls!'.

It made me laugh anyway

People don't usually enjoy wading through Poopie.

On the boxing forum there is usually a period where a few trolls or wums turn up with the sole intention of winding people up by making nonsense comments.

AZ seems to argue on the side of the view that is least popular. If everyone believes in X you can be sure AZ will believe in Y.
