Not necessarily my top 10 but a list of ten films that I highly recommend:

The Sweet Smell of Success - perhaps the sharpest dialogue in fim history and my favourite fim of all time.

Forces of Evil - a great little film noir with shakespearean undertones

Anatomy of a Murder - my favourtite Jimmy Stuart film and a great Duke Ellington soundtrack

Rio Bravo - The Duke, Dean Martin, Walter Brennan - Sunday afternoon western perfection

Night of the Hunter - gothic noir with Robert Mitchum enjoying himself in full psychopath mode

The Friends of Eddie Coyle - almost a pre-cursor of Donnie Brasco albeit a much more understated gangster film.

The Parallax View - very bleak conspiracy film from the Seventies. Not sure Hollywood would make it these days.

The Asphalt Jungle - great heist film that racks up unbearable tension.

Kind Hearts & Coronets - my favourite Ealing comedy - "I fired an arrow into the air, she came to Earth in Barclay Square".

Jaws - it's just great.

All of them worth checking out, mystiroakey - fairly sure they've all been on tv at some point in the past few years. Recently tried to buy The Friends of Eddie Coyle on DVD having seen it on Moviedrome on BBC 2 years ago.

Had no success but my wife managed to track down a Spanish copy of it going under the name "El Confidente" for my christmas. It has the English language version on the DVD.

Bloody hell Superfly, even a couple in there that I haven't seen and a few that I'd forgotten about completely.

Haven't seen Force of Evil or Parallax View yet but will check them out when I get the time.

Both well worth watching, Dass. Love both Film Noir and seventies cinema and these are great examples of each. If you like Parallax View then can also recommend The Conversation. Can also recommend The Big Combo and Double Indemnity as great examples of Film Noir.
