Maxwell is a club slogger at best with the bat.

Alright with the ball, a good fielder on his day.

Shouldn't be near the Aussie side for me

What a ridiculous comment.

Club sloggers can't hit the shots he plays (I know, I've played against some of them); they can't hit a left-handed 6, sweep a fast bowler over fine-leg, or belt them over mid-off 95 metres. The guy has serious ability with the bat, the problem is he gets carried away and does stupid things.

Saying he is a "good fielder on his day" is a bit like saying Tendulkar is a good batsman on his day.

Maxwell is an outstanding fielder any day, a decent bowler and a good hitter on his day. He can play some special shots alright, but he's nowhere near test class, and even in ODI cricket, his temperament lets him down big time more often than not as his shot selection boders on the ridiculous from time to time. If he could work on that particular aspect of his game, he could become a good limited overs player.

OK I probably went a bit over the top in my criticism of him, but I don't see anything particularly spectacular in him (although this past odi series is the first time I've really seen him, so I have no idea if he has blitzed it before?)
