Wimbledon Day 7.... or 8?
Lopez v Isner is exactly what everyone thought it would be.

Re: Wimbledon Day 7.... or 8?
Nishikori eventually beat Bollelli 6-4 in the fifth.
Lopez and Isner locked at 3-3 in the (predictable) first set TB.
Stan with the break in the first set against Istomin.

Re: Wimbledon Day 7.... or 8?
Not sure if it will go that far between Djokovic and Tsonga. Tsonga has been pretty up and down and having to play a lot of 5 set matches to get here.
Djokovic, if he is the same person who played vs Stepanek, it might be 4 but if its a focussed Djokovic, I think 3 close sets maybe?

Tsonga loves grass so if he can't find some inspiration here then he'll never find any. I reckon a poor performance here could be the beginning of the end for him - what is he, 28/29?

Stan might get lucky here. If Istomin can't put up much of a fight or even retires he'll have dodged a massive bullet. Not in terms of opponent but in terms of court time.

Stan 2 sets up now - the scheduling won't be too bad for him in end. Its going to be tough on winner of the Lopez v Isner match which is shaping up to be a long one.

10 games in this set - 6 points conceded by the server. Fair to say this isn't a great watch. Classic 90s serve-fest.

Lopez is great to watch but the problem with Isner v Lopez match-up for the spectators is that both have fantastic serves and a so-so return game.

Bouchard and Cornet up at CC. Can Cornet repeat her heroics? I would prefer Genie to win.

Wawrinka v Istomin has fizzled out as Istomin is unwell. Tennis gods have shown some mercy for Stan.

Re: Wimbledon Day 7.... or 8?
Lopez / Isner is an example of the need to be careful what you wish for as far as speeding up the courts is concerned. It might be nice to think that it would produce a rush of Federeresque players, but I suspect it would more likely result in grass court tennis going back to being a virtual serving contest as in the 90s.

And the men's match ups are all looking tasty. I love JWT-Novak as a contest and nice to see a couple of youngsters going strong.

When Rafa or Murray hits the line with a lob the commentators call it fantastic. When Isner just did it, he was "lucky"...

Shows what injury can do to progress. Genie and Robbo were breaking through at the same time. One's gone up and the other unfortunately has gone down. The changes in coaching personnel hasn't helped either.

Re: Wimbledon Day 7.... or 8?
On her day Robson is much better than Bouchard because she has real venom in her shots. Genie's no pusher but can't match Robbo in those stakes. However, Genie will be more successful because she's more consistent. Whenever Robbo's rallying I can't help think "here comes the UE". Also, as I've said, I can't see Robson coming back. She's young and is already besieged by injury problems. It's like DelPo v2.

Re: Wimbledon Day 7.... or 8?
I think Robbo will come back. She has the weapons. She was let down early on by poor conditioning and movement and a dire serve. I just hope she can recover from her injuries. A top 10er in the making for sure.

I think there's a bit of a difference. Robson is at an age when injuries can be shaken off easier - I mean she will still be developing. Remember, Murray had a wrist injury in 2007 at a similar age and came back fine
You may correct as I've always thought that the hard hitters who force the pace and are not natural movers, suffer the most simply because they over-compensate on the strength of shot (and hence stress to the joints) to make up for those movement deficiencies

Bouchard can also be a big UE merchant (probably because she plays quite agressively). She has indeed a great year so far , 2 GS semis and one title is very impressive 2 years only after her pro debuts. for all the hype that has been surrounding Robson after her junior success (at least in UK), she hasnt unfortunately achieved much on the wta tour.

Bolleli should have closed it out on 4th, a missed chance will remain as missed chance only.

I don't agree that statement one bit, Genie is upcoming incomparison Robson is almost over [atleast her peak].
Genie vs Robson could be like younger WTA version of Rafa vs Fed, Genie can beat Robson like 6-7/10 games, coz she is smart, controlled aggression, got more skills, better stamina, better physique and more variety.
Only thing Robson could be better than Genie is her powerful forehand, but again in terms of consistency Genie would win that contest too.

Cornet is completely rattled. Bouchard should try and close it out now.

I think Robson's another Kvitova. Absolutely lethal on her day and quite capable of beating near enough anyone but in the next match can struggle to find the court.

I'd like to see her take Sharapova down in 2 sets but then I have to cheer Lisicki on provided she makes it. Genie will have her day here one year I'm sure!!
