FedEx ATP Performance Zone: Vs. Top 10 Empty FedEx ATP Performance Zone: Vs. Top 10

Post by invisiblecoolers Wed 27 Aug 2014, 2:54 am

I accidentally went to this link and was shocked to see the stats which some of them have already posted here, but anyways here are the stats

Current Top 10 Emirates ATP Rankings
Name Win-Loss Vs. Top 10 Wins Percentage
1. Novak Djokovic --------- 22-5 --- .815
2. Rafael Nadal ------------ 17-8 --  .680
3. Roger Federer ----------- 12-9 ---.571
4. Stan Wawrinka ---------- 10-6 ---.625
5. David Ferrer ------------- 4-11 ---.267
6. Milos Raonic ------------- 3-10 --- .231
7. Tomas Berdych ---------- 5-10 --- .333
8. Grigor Dimitrov ----------- 5-8  --- .385
9. Andy Murray --------------0-6 ----.000
10. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ------- 4-8 --- .333

Andy Murray has a Whopping 0-6 and David Ferrer has 4-11, I am not surprised about Tsonga and Berdych stats as they were blowing hot and cold.

Stan Wawrinka had a stunning start to the year and hence that stat still looks good.

Nole is very impressive as usual eventhough we all thought its his below par year. censored

Interesting, though I am a little confused by ATP page.  This link - also from ATP page - shows seemingly different numbers:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Performance-Zone/Performance-Zone-Landing.aspx

It has:

1. Nole 22-5
2. Rafa 15-8
2. Roger 15-8

Also note that both sets of stats are over 52-weeks.  Stats from 01Jan14 would be different.

From 01Jan14, vs top 10:

Nole: 8-4 (67%)
Rafa: 6-4 (60%)
Roger: 12-4 (75%)
Stan: 6-1 (86%)
Ferrer: 2-6 (25%)
Raonic: 1-6 (14%)
Berdych: 3-3 (50%)
Dimitrov: 4-5 (44%)
Murray: 0-5 (0%)
Tsonga: 4-7 (36%)

So the Swiss duo has the best numbers this year, while the lone Scottish represenative in top 10 is also the only top 10 member without a single top 10 win.

Good research, chaps.

I love these kind of stats but they are also a great example of how stats don't always tell the whole story

Stan has the best win % against the top ten but is only 4th in the race.

Federer's numbers are also great but 3 of his 4 defeats have been in finals.

I think Raonic's numbers are revealing though. Lots of talk about how he has moved up a level but his record against the top ten is still a poor 1-6.

Yeah but cmon guys. Rafa was injured in all those defeats. It's not really fair to count them.

Imagine what would have been said on here if Hawkeye had moved the goalposts from the original post to show Nadal in a better light.

Hmm....

Problem is, it's not really the "moving of goalposts" or selective date bands that cause so much negative reaction to hawkeye's articles/postings.

I'd say that's much more to do with all the subjective accompanying waffle being passed off as fact and/or supporting evidence.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't ....... (well you know the rest ..... Wink)

Murray badly needs a serve coach or he won't ever beat a top 10 again.

Agree with johnny. Nadal's never lost when he's had no injury Wink

+1

We once had a match between Nadal and Man of Steel, Mos was 2 points away from losing the match in st.sets but Rafa`s injury came in all of a sudden from the sky n he had to lose the remaining 3 sets due to it.

Match officially was not counted due to it and hence Rafa maintains 200% of perfect record after having tried for 500%.

Now dont ask me how he can win 200% when nobody has even come close to winning 100% of matches, its simple when Rafa losses he lost coz of injury and even the matches he won he had some injuries and hence 1 match count for 2 wins.
