Welcome to Season 7 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1992.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

The window will open from the 9th of June but only to those sides that finish 8th and below at first. They will have a week to make one signing each before the window is open to all.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 15:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Am after a favour lads. This girl is a friends niece, and she's trying to launch a music career. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/so-there-single/id909313917

If you've got a spare 59 pence can you download her song and get your mates too as well. She was at number 42 in the charts overnight and if she can break into the top 20, then it might be the kickstart her career needs.

Thanks

Just read that Ewers, Waldrom and Slade have been called in to cover the injuries of Burrell, Haskell and B Vunipola.

Some good performances this weekend in Europe, don't like bigging up my players, but good to see my Toulouse boys play well and Lopez

Quick question. Do this weekends internationals count? As far as I can see there are only two BaaBaas vs. Australia and USA vs. New Zealand. Not sure if either are considered to be tier 1 internationals.

Was watching Rugby Tonight last night and was interesting to see that Brian O'Driscoll reckoned England should start Jonathan Joseph and Anthony Watson against the AB's. Was also worried about Fords defence at the top level, despite saying he is the sort of 10 that he'd love to play with.

Going to be interesting to see who Lancaster goes with. I suspect he'll go with pretty tried and tested players/combinations, with only maybe 1 or 2 new (ish) faces making the matchday 23.

You'd def worry if Lancaster picked Ford and Eastmond, but the new defence coach bath has had made big improvements for all the bath team - only issue you have with ford and Eastmond is their size and how someone like Nonu would make ground on them as he's just so much bigger and more physical.

Joseph is form centre at the moment, and Watson should start on a wing, read in the papers the backline is meant to be - Care, Farrell, Yarde, Eastmond, Barritt, Nowell and Brown.

That is purely based on Daly's performance against Quins - he's been our best back this season, setting up most of our tries.

I can't agree on that, I think he's looked suspect all season. Never fancied him at 13 tbh. He has one move where he faints out and offloads and his defence is poor, he's a much more effective 15.

He's got a long way to catch up with Joseph again this season though, think he's almost back to his best, would really like to see him line up for England at some point during the AIs with Watson in the team too.

What is everyone expecting of England over the next month - got to really be aiming for 3 out of 4 wins, can't see us beating All Blacks first up though.

Be good to find some players that could add a bit of spark to the backline though - Eastmond has looked very good for Bath, but a bit concerned over our wing choices, would love to see Roko given a chance to play.

My 2 pence worth is that daly is a tremendous player.

Think he could play anywhere at 11,13,14 or 15.

I think he has not benefited from wasps shifting him around and also he really has not clicked with leuia(sp) at 12 defensively.

I am not sure if it is due to leuia not being the best defender or because he was used to having Conrad smith outside him who organised things.

Centre partnerships take time.

Daly is like an Aussie back in that he can play anywhere.

He would be a great option. I believe that there will be a trend for big 13s emerging so  daly will not fit the mould.

Latest coaching consensus seems to suggest that a big 13 breaking the channel outwide is the best way of scoring so expect the tuilagi, Kurindrani type to become the norm.

Daly for me is a top talent but is he out best 11,13,14 or 15 ? My answer would be no but he is better than the back up in most positions so is invaluable and should be used by England

Was only joking Pooly, have seen you say you like him before.

Get the impression Lancaster doesn't like him for whatever reason, for me he could be such a good player to have on the bench for England, he's also played at no9 and no10 for Wasps, so he really can go anywhere!

Lancaster doesn't seem to like the type of player that he is, prefers more conservative selections like Goode, who I think is a great AP player but not sure what he offers England really.

Lancaster has this loyalty thing that England cricket had and it works to a point.

Players feel valued and not under pressure that one bad performance means they are out. It enables performance.

However like the cricket it is also a problem. You need a bit
Of churn to
Keep it fresh. It's a fine balance.

Adding Clark Roka may do that but at the same time he has kept players massively out
Of form like 36.

The worst thing for 36 currently would be to play against the all blacks he needs to find some
Form at his club.

Glos Facebook had to stop
The thread announcing the glos
Players in the England squad due to so many people thanking England for taking 36
Away.

It was a bit ridiculous to be fair as we have Atkinson and no one else so 36 is very much needed.

Mike tindall played the lowest level of rugby in Gloucestershire on Saturday and played
For minchinhampton in glos 3. Great to see someone giving back. What a man

I rate Tillous-Borde higher at Toulon, who is very underrated IMO. Let alone, Parra, Kockott, Machenaud, Vermak, Bezy and the other Clermont scrummie, who is underrated as well.

Isn't he second choice at Montpellier?

Tilous borde also very good.

France suit a 9 who gets them playing tempo.
Meant best French 9 not best 9
In France.

Would have him above all that list apart from
Kockott and tilous borde. I would not class kockott as French yet either

Mâchénaud parra etc for me slow the game and are not right for France.

France has the 9 as king.

When I was a kid the French 9 threw in to the lineout. This was the norm throughout the 80s.

This isn't biased, but their best combo at the moment is Tillou-borde and Lopez

100% agree

Lopez looks the real deal. Great defender. TB always been good. The argument is he is not great under pressure.

For me he is clever as and inventive and the type of 9
I like. He kicks well also

He has played in two heineken cup finals and top 14 finals hasn't he? Don't think he could be under much more pressure!
The one against Clermont was a great kicking performance, but he allows his backs to play too.

French produce great backs and the 9
Should make them have great ball.

Tb does this as
Does kockott and pelisse.

French at best when fast and loose

Gutted I released Lopez, but nobody on here rated him when I had him!

Young player who has suddenly transformed
Pete.

His defence is fantastic
And his kicking out of hand really good.

I could have released Kurindrani due to previous ratings but now can't see that happening.

Seem to remember many people also bagging marler, Farrell etc.

Young players take time and for me I am patient. However loads never make it or peak young so it's tough.

I remember when Chris was about to release Savea and I wanted him. 1 year later he was unstoppable.

Hope his brother goes the same way. He has been injured for 5 months but looks the real deal

I think George Kruis could potentially be England's 5 come the World Cup , Lawes coming on would ruin teams.

Kruis best line out forward this year I seen , Dom Barrow is a top talent at Falcons would be in England contention if at saints or tigers

I got ferris for mike tindall

I also swapped Kieran read for
5 players who included olly barkley.

It was definitely quantity over quality. Read was a 6 for Canterbury and occasional 8 at the time. I saw he had potential but he developed out of sight. Nobody in NZ had him
Down as a world beater when he arrived.

I also paid over 40 million for deon Fourie.

I did similarly for yacoub Camara but based on his performances currently and France call up he looks the real deal

I must admit I've been very underwhelmed by Kruis, really surprised he's in the England set up. He's very underpowered for a lock and gets destroyed at maul time. Matthews had the game of his life at the weekend and played much better than Kruis could at the minute imo.
