TNA British Bootcamp 2 - thoughts so far

Post by Adam D on Wed 29 Oct 2014, 1:40 pm

Week 2 is done and dusted and I thought I would share my thoughts.

Week 1 - some good talent but baring Nikki Storm, cant really see the others winning.
Noam Doar is excellent but a little bland
Grado is funny but I cant imagine they will let this years "spud" win. Its also so obviously a work (the storyline with Al Snow). I can see "friend of the v2 podcast" Grado being involved in the British tour.
KayLeigh - Doesnt look the part in my opinion - too skinny and not very authorative in cutting promos

Borash stated this weeks Manchester auditions were even better than Glasgow. Really?

Mark Anderson reminded me of a smaller Jericho. Very good but once again too small in my opinion to ever be a main eventer
El Ligero - really liked him but do TNA need another non talking masked guy (Freak, Shark boy and Manik are already on the books)
Kris Travis - we already know that he is no longer wrestling due to cancer. The panel werent that high on him anyway
Rampage Brown - other than his size, I thought he didnt look great at all. HE is the spitting image of David Haye in my opinion!
The women were awful in my opinion - either no confidence or no skill whatsoever.
I liked Cyanide - felt sorry for the big guy!

So far, I can only really see 4 people in with a chance (Nikki, Rampage, Grado or Anderson). Out of those, I can only see Nikki Storm or Anderson getting anywhere.

Next week we have Dave Mastif who I saw last year who I thought was brilliant.

Whats everyone elses thoughts so far?

Grado is Frak amazing live but his act will never get him in the big leagues. Its a shame, because he is genuinely funny as hell and a pretty good wrestler.

The one you are referring as a smaller Chris Jericho is actually Mark Andrews.

I haven't really paid much attention to British Wrestling but this has really opened my eyes as to what talent is out there. Both Andrews & Nikki Storm have worked over in the US indies and can really go! There's a handful more I could list off but I'm hoping they audition at the final London show. Grado/Al Snow screens worked angle to me and I'm guessing Grado will finally get his chance at the London show...

Disagree that Andrews is to small, he's exactly what TNA are looking to recruit for their X-Division. When you see guys like Chris Sabin & Austin Aries holding the world titles then I think size goes out the window. Would love to here Tooze's view on this as he's been following UK wrestling for years

I knew I had the name wrong as I was typing but couldn't recall it for the life of me.

He and Nikki are the only two that have been believable to me so far.

He basically gate crashed the 2nd round in Manchester only to be thrown out by Snow again. Kim told him he has to do something to try and win Snow over.

Work!

Thats what I thought too...hope it is! I know from watching the ICW program that he's a bit (very) daft but I couldn't see him showing up late for something like Boot Camp.

Afraid for the most part I thought the candidates were fairly cringeworthy, apart from that one guy on the Manchester show (forget his name, but he was very confident and did a good promo). Was also impressed with Nikki Storm (would love to see her paired with James!)

Funniest moment has to be when they had to judge Priscilla Queen of the Ring. Gail Kim seemed to like him but you could see Joe and Al visibly take a step back...even though they were seated. A real WTF? moment for them. Laugh

I was thinking James Storm actually (mixed tag team) - but it would take a LOT of work to make that happen. Wink

...and then you woke up!!! laughing

Anyway, back on topic, the London auditions weren't bad but was surprised they decided to take them ALL on the Maximum Impact tour. I guess that means a lot of the normal roster will get a rest.

Happy to see Grado eventually got his chance...though he had to take a beating from one of the other candidates.
