Three picks were in the final group and at the end it came down to who could hold their nerve over the closing stretch.  Brooks Keopka did just that as Hideki Matsuyama and Martin Laird faltered on 17 and Laird slipped further back on 18.  Bubba watson and Ryan Palmer tried their hardest to get their hands on the prize and just like McLaren and SetupDetermines they came up just short.  McLaren had six of his seven remaining picks score points and SetupDetermines had five of his seven score.  They couldn't close the gap on Pedro and TheCleaver; they didn't score as well as the chasing pack but they had done enough to create a gap that couldn't quite be closed.  Ultimately TheCleaver held on for his first win.

Beninho, using a tip from Kwini, made out like a bandit and shot up the leaderboard thanks to Koepka.  Raycastleunited was hot on his heels and he finished just ahead of LadyPutt whose "picks" proved to be quite successful.  Redrage, Kouchi, and SirBenson finished strongly and they rounded out the top ten.  I'mNeverWrong should have paid off the administrator as he developed a nosebleed, tumbled down the leaderboard, to finish in his own words in mid table obscurity.

Kevin Streelman and Freddie Jacobson tied for round of the day with 64s.  Pedro earned bonus points for that.  Russell Henley sank without a trace after a 78.  Barragan and TheCleaver picked up some points there.  Bill Haas also had a day to forget, his 77 saw him slip to the bottom of the leaderboard and last place.  Beninho, Hibbz, and I'mNeverWrong earned points from Haas.

There's lots happening in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend.  There's the return of TV golf viewership as Tiger Woods puts in a rep in his quest to slow his freefall in the OWGR.  There's also the small matter of the World Throwball final where deflate-gate seems to be hogging the headlines.  Personally, I think the Patriots should bung a testicular cancer charity a few million bucks and say it was a marketing campaign to get you to check your balls.  There's also the gauntlet that is the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale.  'Elf and Safe-tee is being used to alleviate some of the hoopla that comes with this short par 3; no caddy races (some of the old lags wouldn't have taken part anyway), no swag tossing, no booing, no booze, just kidding about that last one.

Bubba Watson is the headliner? This week, see above, he's ranked at number four in the OWGR.  He's joined by Jordan Spieth and Matt Kuchar from the top 10.  Seventeen other players from the top 50 fill out Category A and lead Category B.  Tiger's the lowest ranked player in the top 50 at 47.  Phil Mickelson will be hoping for an early finish; last time the World Throwball final was in Arizona he ended up givng his tickets away to a Dad with a young son to go instead.  83 players are providing value to the OWGR points on offer for this event, for more detail see the OWGR threads that GPB, Robopz, et al contribute to.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Eight picks were in the Top 10 Low round scores including five of the six lowest scorers. Hideki Matsuyama shot the lowest round of the week so far and he was a pick of five Fantasy Leaguers.  Beninho was the highest scorer in round three as he had two other picks in the low scores besides Matsuyama.  TheCleaver leapfrogged Pedro after he had another pick besides Matsuyama in the low scores and one who got points for the wrong reasons.  EmmDee57 also had three picks score points; two for good play and one for bad play.  Barragan, I'mNeverWrong, and SetupDetermines had multiple picks score points.  Five Fantasy Leaguers didn't trouble the scorer.

Special mention goes to Francesco Molinari for his hole in one in the noisiest place in golf.  He finished one shot shy of Matsuyama.  Brian Davis shot 77 for the worst round of the day; he's also in last place on the leaderboard.

Lots of points look to be up for grabs as twelve picks are in the scoring positions including six who are tied for 8th, two that are tied for 5th, two that are tied for 2nd, and the leader.

Thanks Grumpy Golfer.

I look forward to many more tournaments this season and thanks for organising.

By the way is there a cumulative league table?
