Post by Fernando on Tue 03 Feb 2015, 9:08 am

Tonight's WWE RAW opens up with a video package on the Royal Rumble controversy. We go to the RAW intro video.

- We're live from Denver, Colorado with Michael Cole, Booker T and JBL. The pyro goes off as Cole welcomes us to the Pepsi Center and mentions that we're 55 days away from WrestleMania 31.

- We go right to the ring and out comes Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to a mixed reaction. Lilian Garcia makes the introduction and we see the locker room backstage watching on a TV screen. Stephanie takes the mic first and they talk about being at the NFL's Super Bowl 49 last night. The Authority are fans of the champion New England Patriots. Fans boo them and the Patriots. Stephanie says the Patriots are champions because that's what is best for business. Triple H agrees and jokes that he hopes the NFL can survive with the new #CancelNFLNetwork movement. Triple H says the Royal Rumble had its share of controversy as well. Stephanie says they understand there is some outrage about what happened at the Rumble. She says they understand why and they're here to do something about it. Triple H says we can't let something like this happen and he shows us the ending to the Rumble 30-man main event. Triple H says it was wrong of Big Show and Kane for coming back in the match. He says they were guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct, like the Seattle Seahawks. Triple H says he doesn't have a problem with Kane and Show but he does have a problem with The Rock. Triple H says Rock had o business being there. He says Rock is one of the biggest WWE stars ever and always has a place there but... a "Rocky" chant breaks out. He brings up Rock's Hollywood success and says Rock had no business getting in the Rumble because he's not a WWE Superstar. Triple H says part of that is his fault because people with a name still think they can come back and affect what happens as he let Sting get away with that at Survivor Series. Triple H says that stops at Fast Lane, that's why he's called Sting out. Triple H wants Sting to stand int he ring with him at Fast Lane. He promises to resolve their problem. A "we want Sting" chant starts. Stephanie asks if fans want Sting and if they do, they can get him at Fast Lane on the WWE Network. She plugs the Network promo. He asks if they're just going to take his title shot away from him... hell no, he says. He and Triple H have words and come face to face. Triple H looks upset. Stephanie gets in between them and tells Reigns to calm down, saying they haven't announced anything official yet. She brings up how he talked about his legendary family last night. She asks if it's ironic that the family he wants to impress more than anything in this world is the reason why he shouldn't main event WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan's music hits and out he comes to a big pop. Stephanie sarcastically welcomes Bryan back. Bryan tells Reigns he had to deal with this same thing before. Bryan says if you want to talk about controversy, talk about how they stripped him of the WWE World Heavyweight Title and he never got a rematch. Bryan says he officially throws his name in the hat for a title shot at WrestleMania because he wants to do it one more time. Triple H says there was nothing out of the ordinary about them stripping him because he failed at fulfilling his contractual obligations. Triple H says Bryan came back full of himself, put himself in the Rumble and never should have been in it in the first place. Triple H says maybe he could see Bryan getting a shot at WrestleMania but... the music interrupts and out comes Seth Rollins with Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble. Rollins is having some mic trouble. Stephanie says "we can't hear you" as RAW goes to commercial.

We come back and Rollins is in the ring. He makes a joke about live TV and says what he's been hearing is getting ridiculous. Rollins says Bock Lesnar would eat Bryan alive. Rollins says Bryan got stripped because he got hurt and that's his own fault. Rollins welcomes Bryan to the deep end with the big boys. Rollins turns to Reigns and says he wouldn't even be the Rumble winner if it weren't for The Rock. Rollins says if anyone deserves to face Lesnar at WrestleMania, it's the man who stole the show in the Triple Threat and broke Lesnar's ribs, Mr. Money... Reigns threatens to knock Rollins into next week. Triple H gets in between them. He and Stephanie have a word in private. Triple H has a change in plans... he announces Bryan vs. Rollins with the winner facing Reigns at Fast Lane. The winner of that match will face Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania. Booker and JBL say Reigns just got screwed. They all have words back and forth. Rollins says no one wants to see Bryan vs. Reigns at Fast Lane. He says if Reigns doesn't accept the offer, he's afraid of him and doesn't have the guts. The Authority asks Reigns if he accepts. Fans chant "yes!" as Bryan does the gesture. So, Survivor Series outcome lasted about a month before being reversed. The Royal Rumble outcome lasts a week before winning it becomes devalued.

I get that WWE is rolling with the times and short term, these make good stories. But long term I worry that the same lack of credibility that they've given most of the belts by not being able to write around them will affect their PPVs. For this viewer, I'm not going to get engaged in a story that builds up over a month or more, to learn that the outcome of that can be devalued in hours.

What WWE have done is made the situation worse essentially.

If Bryan wins - Reigns gets buried and mocked for "Not being ready"
If Reigns wins - People are going to boo him again
If Rollins interferes - This is the only logical way out for them and maybe turn it into a 4-way match which i think could be epic.

Is it worse?  For me, what WWE has done is made Fastlane interesting.  That's a bit of a save, right there.

I think what I really don't get is that kayfabe this makes no sense.  Bryan vs Rollins to decide who should face the winner of the Rumble to decide who should face the champion at Mania.  I've not watched Raw yet, but why Bryan and Rollins?  Why is Cena not involved?  There's no sense to it other than getting a pop.  Which if you even take a second to think about it, just shows to me how stupid WWE were.  They should have had Reigns and Bryan as last men in the Rumble.  Hell have them go over the rope together, the controversy of who hit the floor first.  Have them meet again at Fastlane then.  They could have arrived at the same point, without this silly idea of let's get DB out of the Rumble early and the crowd will pop for Reigns when he beats Big Show and Kane and he'll be so over you'll not believe it when The Rock raises his hand.

But , to me short term.  This new twist.  And the twist that is still lurking out there of the MitB. Kind of do make this interesting.

It’s a lose/lose situation for Roman Reigns. If he beats Bryan the heat will be worse than the Rumble. I don’t see how he can come out of it in any better shape than he is right now.

They should keep the Reigns heat bandwagon going but do a double turn at Mania. Have Heyman screw Lesnar and Reigns to become the new Paul Heyman Guy. Reigns will have the best talker in the business to speak for him and it avoids the predictable Mania finish everyone is expecting.

I have a feeling they will end the Reigns-Bryan match with Bryan giving him a handshake and saying he deserves the shot in the hope that Bryan's on-screen acceptance of it will help the fans who don't want Reigns, get behind Reigns.

Or possibly a Ziggler interference, heel-turn and setting up their Wrestlemania match.

In theory they are doing what the doubters are asking them to do. They are about to put Reigns in a big singles match that main events a PPV. People say he isnt ready so they are getting him ready. That wont matter, of course, but its a good thing to be doing in that sense.

I just worry for him. I'm not sure there is any good outcome though, I'm not sure there was any way Reigns comes out of this looking good. They'd have cheered Rollins in the main event and they'll cheer Bryan.

The only way he can win back some respect is if they pull out a 25 minute plus match and people applaud the effort of both men. I'm not sure we're in an era where people do that though

i dont understand why people keep calling for him to become a Heyman guy which in turn will allow Hey,man to speak for Reigns.

how does that help Reigns improve his Mic skills??

just let him talk and do his own thing, not this scripted crap.

Erm, I'd say it will help massively to improve his mic skills. Standing in the ring and learning from the best talker in the business week in week out can only be beneficial to Reigns in the long term. He's not good on the mic, there's no masking that, and I don't think theres anything wrong in him taking 1 step back in order to take 2 forward. Especially given his age and how much time he has on his side.

It's probably all irrelevant anyway as I doubt the Heyman partnership will come to fruition.

I dont think a double turn at Mania will work if Brock is leaving. You could have Heyman try to court Reigns over a month or so after before aligning them, once Heyman proves Reigns could make great use of his services, and Heyman could make him huge, like he did with Lesnar and Punk.

I don't like the heel turn, lazy. It's not a character thing, can't just turn anyone who achieves beyond Bryan into a heel

Surprisingly Roman losing to the big show was his 1st pinfall loss since leaving FCW. He really is taking being John Cena MK2

No it isn't. He took the pin fall at Elimination Chamber for The Shield v The Wyatt Family.

I agree with the concensus that the WWE are digging a bigger hole with this situation with Reigns main eventing WrestleMania. Either way he comes out of it weaker. For me, Reigns could be like Sting was in 1996/97. Broody outsider picking moments against The Authority. It needs, however Rollins to be champion. They have booked Lesnar too strong. This guy withstood 3 FU's, flying elbow through the table, 2 briefcase shots to the head and he is going to succumb to the Superman Punch and Spear? Headscratch

Which is why they craftily came up with the idea of Rollins breaking his ribs...

They should replicate one of my favourite Mania main events. Go 4 way, get a man in every competitors corner. The Authority and Rollins, Heyman and Lesnar, The Rock and Reigns, Hogan and Bryan (scratching for people with star power)

You could have Sting backing Bryan, getting him into Mania without making him wrestle.

I don't want to see HHH v Sting,I don't want to see Sting wrestle in WWE,I think sometimes nostalgia and 'what ifs' are better left as such.

Agree with you though Dolph I think the 4 way would tick enough boxes to be a success.
