There's something about a redemption story line though.

Straight at him, Buffon always just palms shots away and relies on his defenders to clear it- unfortunately caught up with him on the biggest stage of all.

Maybe a little harsh on Buffon, but if as a defensive unit, you've restricted Messi to shots outside the box, and that's the best he can muster, you'd be a little disappointed in that save.
