First topic message reminder :

Now the season is over, the rumours begin!

Milner/Ings to Liverpool seems likely.
Benitez to Real Madrid, Bale staying.
Falcao is desperate to move to Chelsea.
Otamendi and Dani Alves to Manchester United.
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal

What else?

Olly chirping up & agreeing with the usual posters, you don't know anything about ogbonna or quality players, when you think Robbie Brady would be a good signing for Norwich.

At least monty knows what he's talking about, good player, but nothing special.

Genuine question Liam - do you actually rate any players? I don't think I've ever seen you post anything positive about a player.

He was very good there second half of the season, coming inside to link up with the others. Di Maria is ok on the wing and excellent in the middle.

We won't be going for Cabaye as he's over £10m in a position we have depth. Think that explains why his Palace move has now sped up.

Don't see why, Vertonghen plays LB for Belgium and Alderweireld has played RB for most of the last three years, only moving into the centre in recent months.

Why the hell would Cabaye sign for Palace? What an idiot.

Hes proper quality, and I would have been happy to have him, but I'm equally ok with spending the budget elsewhere. Good deal for Palace, and with Stoke selling N'Zonzi I'd be throwing that money straight towards Cabaye if I was them.

I don't care if Vertonghen struggles & plays LB for Belgium, why would Spurs care? For Spurs, Danny Rose plays LB & Vertonghen plays CB. Alderweireld has been playing CB & was quality for Southampton, so he will fit right in alongside his fellow countryman in Vertoghen. Top signing & a top partnership in the making.

The point is that there is no automatic understanding with Vertonghen. They've never played as a CB pairing, and just because they're from the same country doesn't mean they'll be a good pairing. Lovren was a good CB for Southampton but he couldn't gel with the other Liverpool CBs, who were also quality.

Downing not a done deal at Boro, 70K a week wages at West Ham according to local rag, that will be the stumbling block, definitely prefers coming back to Boro though.

Shay Given was due to sign for Boro on 2 year deal, but latest is happy go lucky Mark Hughes has hijacked the deal, so looks like he's Stoke bound.

We must have someone lined up, would dread a season with Rooney as our only striking option.

Unless he thinks depay can cover at centre forward.

Seems to be the reason Ogbonna isnt quite unveiled yet is that we have people in Austria talking to Dragovic's people. Although it would be great if we got both.

Raheem Sterling has refused to go on the pre-season tour and has now missed training citing illness.

Remember back to Luis Suarez in 2013 though, club stayed firm and he ended up staying another year.

Really interesting to see whether Manchester City are going to stump up £50 million and whether Liverpool are serious about not selling. Expect he'll go, but would not be that surprised at all if he ended up staying put and comes back into the side October-November needing to prove a point.

Exactly, my point proven. Should make a strong partnership.

RVP has signed a four year contract at Fenerbahce & Iker Casillas is nearing a move to Porto.

I agree, he pretty much dragged Utd to the title when he joined but since then it's often been liking playing with 10 on the pitch when he's been on.

We've been linked with Jonny Evans. I imagine it will get ridiculed, but I think he'd be a good signing, although not for the 10 million which is currently being quoted.

Agree with the both of you on Evans. We need a younger centre back & he'd be a good fit. £10m is ridiculous though, seeing as he has one year left on his contract. If Pulis can wrap a deal up for around £5m-£6m, I'd be very happy with that.

It could just be Darmian being brought in at right back but also as CB cover; Jones, Smalling, Rojo and McNair are all ahead of Evans now for me.

Reading the Skysports piece on Darmian does make it clear why we've gone for him and not Clyne as i'd hoped and it's a simple case of height, LVG wants a back four who all have an aerial presence.

In advanced talks, Charnley is over in Holland, so I'd imagine we will eventually get this deal done for Wijnaldum. Be a top signing & needed if Ashley wants those remaining season tickets to be renewed.
