Serfontain and Burrell is an awesome pairing, I was so much in favour of Burrell going to the RWC than Burgess.

Sorry, Kepu playing for my team and Waratahs. If it can be changed to Johnston starting and Tomaszcyzk on the bench, I'd appreciate if. Understand if this is too late

Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D Empty Re: Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D

Post by SirJohnnyEnglish Sun 06 Sep 2015, 7:16 pm

Bath 25-28 Bulls
That Bath front row would struggle at scrum time for me while Ewels would be a weakness in league games. Patchell a weakness at FB post world cup compared to most sides options but a fair amount of potential in that backline.

Bath 24 - 30 Bulls
Bath look a bit weak in the front 5 for me, and thats not the way to approach a game against an SA side, even if Bulls aren't the force they once were. Closer in the back row, but the Bulls lads are very physical, and a green Ewers and Gill will struggle, especially with Messam not a natural 8. Bath stronger at outside back, but the Bulls halfback pairing are decent enough, and will marshall the pack to lead them to a win

Bath 25 - 24 Bulls
Lee been injured and not first choice Bath front row but they can deal with Bulls. Not sure Matthews is there yet. Quite like the backrow and it will edge the breakdown today. Bulls' 10 has an edge in top level experience and the Bath backline looks defensively vulnerable and inexperienced, though dangerous out wide. Bath win as it's at home, would not win away

Bath 23 - 25 Bulls
I'm not sure any of your younger guys wouldn't be weaknesses in an AP game. I'm not a Messam fan at 8 and need to see more of your 10. Amos a great prospect and could play for you in AP in a stronger back line.

Bath 18-19 Bulls
Small scrum advantage to Bath but Bulls have a bit more in the pack past that. 9 battle close but Pollard a bit better than his opposite number. Not much in the centres or back 3.

Bath 25 - 23 Bulls
Not sure Ewels should be used as a no6, but with the options from the bench as well Bath will win the pack battle. Would personally always play Williams as a no15 as opposed to wing as he gets the ball more and for me was the best fb in Europe last season. Bath looking a strong team for next season.

Bath Rugby 22-19 Bulls
Decent front 5 for Bath, but not sure on the back row.  The Bulls pack is not strong though, so Bath have enough to dominate up front, and just about enough in the backs to make it count.

Bath Rugby 28 - 16 Bulls

Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D Empty Re: Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D

Post by SirJohnnyEnglish Sun 06 Sep 2015, 7:16 pm

Tahs 32-25 Wasps
Gilchrist a slight weakness in that pack. Vito decent but not as good as compared to others as well. Else where it’s a strong pack though, Ben Arous a big improvement at LH. Russell at 10 looks like being a star but the backline is a bit uninspiring compared to most. Moala with potential and Pennell decent EQ but improvement needed elsewhere.

Waratahs 30 - 23 Wasps
Big ask up against a strong Waratahs side, especially with Kepu being ineligible and the bench a man down. Think Wasps may have a slight edge at the breakdown, but elsewhere they will lose out to a well drilled Waratahs, with the likes of Folau and Naiyaravoro making the difference in the outside backs. Tahs halfback combo is just a bit too strong to not take advantage

Waratahs 26 - 24 Wasps
Wasps look strong. A good front row and back row with a ok second row. Half backs young but I like the outside backs which have a good balance between pace, power and creativity. Bench could provide impact with Godwin who I like but a lot of youth.

Waratahs 30-25 Wasps
Slightly better scrum for Wasps but prefer the Tah's lock combo. Good backrow battle with 6 & 8 to Wasps. Both Tah's halfbacks stronger and similar in the centres and back 3.

Waratahs 28 - 26 Wasps
Would be a reverse scoreline if Wasps were at home - the away side will get some joy from the lineout but Tahs have so many strike runners in the backline and great at the breakdown with Hooper and can just see them being able to get over the gainline and score more than the away side.

Waratahs 30-27 Wasps
I like the Wasps pack.  Should compete at scrum, lineout and breakdown, but perhaps lacks a little in the carrying stakes.  It's up against a strong tahs pack though, and in the backs the Tahs have considerably more attacking threat, so at home take the win.

Waratahs 27-23 Wasps

Waratahs 31 - 22 Wasps

Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D Empty Re: Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D

Post by SirJohnnyEnglish Sun 06 Sep 2015, 7:17 pm

Chiefs 30-26 Saints
Some form issues to the front row and Paterson at 6 would be a little out of place in the league else where Saints pack looking strong though. Running threat from halfback is supreme but would need Gits in centre to offer some control. Tuilagi badly needs game time and is extremly hard to rate.

Chiefs 34 - 32 Saints
Chiefs pack matches up very well against Saints, strong front row, excellent second rows and the back row can really take advantage of Paterson at 6. Think they will get enough ball to give the backs a chance, and although Saints have some big names in the backs, form is a bit of an issue, and can easily see Chiefs getting the better of Saints at home. The bench quality makes it close, but Chiefs win

Chiefs 26 - 28 Saints
Would love to see Big Ben vs Domingo, but Herrera edges his opponent and the scrum, tight call at the lineout, Paterson maybe gives Saints an edge. Not sure about his role at 6 so pressure on Pocock and Parisse but both are class and will manage with Launchbury basically an extra flanker anyway (if looking tired in his last match). Cruden has been injured for a while now and Saints have a good attacking combo that will keep the Chiefs' defence honest. Manu -Daly is a risk but could work and if so Saints edge the attack battle. Just enough to win away

Chiefs 25 - 25 Saints
Strong pack. Paterson weak as a six in this league but a great lineout presence in the pack. Not quite sure Simpson/Sopoaga work as a pair and Manu needs more games. Very strong back three. A competitive game.

Chiefs 28-24 Saints
Not much in the set piece but Chiefs lock combo a bit stronger around the park. Patterson at 6 could be targetted and this just gives Chiefs an edge. Both Chiefs halfbacks stronger and same again in the centres. Chiefs back 3 again a touch better although not too much in it.

Chiefs 37-33 Northampton Saints
High scorer with two very attacking sides.  Big weakness for Saints is the defence through that centre pairing.  Manu tends to jump out of the line and at 12 would cause real issues for Daly outside him doing that.  The Chiefs exploit space better than most teams int he world and I can see them edging Saints out in this one.

Chiefs 29-26 Saints

Chiefs 30 - 41 Saints

Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D Empty Re: Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D

Post by SirJohnnyEnglish Sun 06 Sep 2015, 7:17 pm

Sharks 35-25 Worc
Worc will struggle at scrum time this season and that 2nd row lacking quality. Williams fell off a little last season but has plenty of potential similar for Allen in midfield.

Sharks 29 - 25 Worcester
Worcester have improved a lot, but the Sharks side is just a bit too powerful up front for me. The likes of BDP, Alberts and the props will really put the Warriors under pressure, and the Worcester backs just aren't quite good enough to win the game while on the back foot. As a RWC side, it looks pretty good for Worcester, think the weakness is in the back 5 of the pack, but on the whole a solid side

Sharks 27 - 22 Worcester
Tough for Wrcester against an excellent scrum. Workman like second I imagine makes for a safe lineout though. A little more dynamism in the Sharks' backrow though I think the breakdown is a draw. Dickson-Williams a good HB combo and hard to call that battle. I like Leuia at 12 and Tait a danger at FB but at home and with a secure scrum, the Sharks have too much

Sharks 25 - 22 Worcester
I like the Worcester pack especially the Potgieter/Smith balance. I think the back three would struggle in an aerial battle and lack kicking options across the backs but very strong ball in hand. A lot of pressure on Williams and especially Dickson to control the game.

Sharks 25-22 Worcester
Sharks scrum stronger and same again in the locks. Sharks backrow a bit better too and they'll have a pack advantage. Prefer Dickson at 9 but Lambie better at 10. Not much in the centres and back 3.

Sharks 25 - 25 Worcester Warriors
The Prop/Driver gets off to a good start with a draw away at the Sharks - if they had gone with a full strength backline then they'd have won this by a score or two. A really good pack theyv've put out and although it doesnt have the wc stars the Sharks do they are all players that stand up and work well together. If they can bring in a wc forward in the front 5 then it could make a huge difference before the start of the season.

Sharks 32-22 Worcester Warriors
man for man the Sharks pack would just dominate Worcester here.  If the Sharks back line was better this would have been an even bigger margin.

Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D Empty Re: Summer Tournament Round Ten - Pools C & D

Tigers 24-24 Brumbies
Tigers front row a great help at the breakdown but scrum wise not as strong as recent years. 2nd row solid but would be out worked by others. Backrow always a plus as are Bast, Brown and Ranger. Brown with a lot of work to do though covering the back field.

Brumbies 30 - 26 Leicester
Brumbies have the quality throughout the pack to put the Leicester 8 under pressure, especially without Moore. This will put the platform down for the backs, and Leicester look the weakest of the top sides in this area for me, strange to think they won the league not so long ago! Tough one for Tigers, Brumbies win

Tigers 24- 24 Brumbies
Not sure, still, about Jenkins at the scrum, so not calling it either way. Think Brumbies can edge the lineout though Louw and Lobbe together can outdo Brumbies at the breakdown, and with Mafi and 3 good carriers in the backrow, the Tigers have a clear advantage in making yards Too flaky at 9-10 for leicester and Brumbies centres will cause Bowden problems. 1 wing apiece and Brown >>> Mogg, so it's a tough one.. More reliability at HB would see a Tigers win, as it stands, draw

Leicester 32 - 28 Brumbies
I like everything about the Leicester side except the half backs which I think offer too much of a contrast in their style of play and will struggle to compliment each others game. The pack looks very solid and will compete with every pack it faces. On the front foot the Tigers backs look very good but if they get turned around by a solid kicking game the wingers will look exposed.

Leicester 22-20 Brumbies
Small scrum advantage for Tigers and similar in the lineout. Prefer the Tigers backrow but Brumbies halfbacks a step up. One a piece in the centres and a close back 3 battle.

Leicester Tigers 25 - 18 Brumbies
Cant see many teams taking points at Welford Road with that pack, so strong and some great options from the bench as well. Mike Brown's return to form in the last few games for England will have a massive boost for Tigers as well - if they could bring in a top class centre or wing then they could challenge for the league.

Canes 35-22 Quins
Gorgodze named Georgia captain for WC so hard to gauge the backrow for the WC period. Scrum looks decent for world cup but 2nd row will be a bit slow around the park. Not a whole lot of attacking intent in the back line but would get over the gain line regularly. Would consider McKenzie for FB to rotate 2nd receiver otherwise Thomas won't see a lot of ball. Back three would struggle a bit aerially.

Hurricanes 30 - 17 Harlequins
Steve has acknowledged his side will get humped, so won't talk about the result. As a RWC side, the pack will struggle in the lineout, but has massive power around the park. Think you are relying hugely on the flankers getting to rucks though, as the rest of the pack would be best described as plodders. In the backs, not keen on Dickson, but 10, 12, 13 are as good as any side will have during the tournament, but haven't seen a lot of Olding as a 15 (or as a 12 tbf!) so would struggle to rate him much there. Solid side though, add another kicker in the backs and it would be brilliant in the wet weather games

Hurricanes 30 -24 Quins
Actually closer looking than I thought, but Canes just have more power and class in backs and pack, and would win comfortably-ish. Quins: FR- Passably good, Robinson decent when the INts are away and Afoa old but reliable. Buchanan not getting much gametime but I know what he can do. SR- Easter and Hamilton - bit risky at the lineout - Easter is good there but he's hardly a specialist. Would have Easter at 8 and Gordgodze at lock at least for attacking scrums, maybe switch if you like on defense. Easter is a viable lock option but think Gorgodze offers more power to scrum. Tyros (ish) at flank but both good and supported by experience at 8 and lock. Either one is fine to play, risk with both. Reliable 9=10 that won't let you down but need a playmaker at 12 or 15 really. Good centres offering power and Burrell at 13 probably better atm. His tackling has fallen off though. Bcak 3 is ok, lacks pace and class for the proper game but fine for world cup,Thomas is special

Hurricanes 30-23 Quins
Slight scrum advantage for Canes and similar in the lineout. Canes a bit better in the backrow and their pack will give them a good platform. Past that it's all Canes with a fantastic backline that wouldn't look out of place in the game. Tough outing for Quins.

Hurricanes 33 - 23 Quins
QUins have rotated quite a bit in the game - would definitely say Clifford can step up this year Steve, he looks very good. I'm not sure Dickson and Myler work brilliantly and would be an area to target. Would try and keep Burrell at no12 as well as although he's looked ok at no13 he can get caught out defensively. Lewington could be really good for Irish again this year. It's a strong wc team though.
