Royal Rumble 2016

Post by Paul Mac 6CW on Mon 11 Jan 2016, 5:14 am

So all the focus this year has been on Reigns and whether he will be able to survive the Rumble to retain the championship but for me the best bit of the Rumble is the guys who take their shot to use the stage as a platform to really show this year is going to be a big one for them. So who out of the roster including NXT do you

A) Think will get a good showing?
B) Deserves to be given the push that a decent Rumble run can give?

Do you think AJ Styles and Naka will enter? And if so, do you think they could make a new main eventer with them by winning?

Could get Balor and Joe in there too, although they could make Joe a Samoan relative of Reigns to help him.

Could be the best Rumble in years due to the injuries leaving it wide open.

Bray Wyatt will be a star again this year, especially if he has the united family with him. I can see the four of them dominate for one or two straight entries only to be taken apart by Lesnar.

Question is though if Lesnar wins and Reigns/HHH spins off as a non title programme who faces Lesnar for the belt?

All the scuttlebutt I hear is Rock wants Owens and those are 2 guys who I would have considered

Also Taker id without an opponent now that Cena is down

It's a very interesting situation and I can't see anything other than HHH winning and setting up him v Reigns for the title

Would Lesnar v Sheamus w/the rest of the League of Nations be such a bad Wrestlemania WWE Title match in the circumstances? Especially if its alongside maybe Taker v Rusev. Add Reigns v HHH and Rock v Owens and there's four matches which would be strong.

Alternatively Lesnar v Ambrose or Lesnar v Wyatt?

I'd rather see Lesnar take on the Wyatt Family than the League of Nations. You can have Lesnar go through each member, maybe Strowman at Fast Lane to get to Bray at Mania. Bray and Heyman going at it on the mic would be fun too. So I'd go for Lesnar RR win.

I really don't see E putting the likes of Ambrose in big PPV matches. Owens maybe, can see him facing Taker.

All four of the social outcasts to work 2geva early and eliminate someone like Mark Henry. Slater will start mouthing off on the mic before all four r eliminated by Strowman and then wyatts dominate for a while

I can see it coming down to Brock and Sheamus - League of Nations have stayed at ringside but Brock overcomes the odds - Reigns then invokes his rematch clause at WM

There's quite possibly the occurrence that the fans end up cheering HHH winning this if the alternative is Reigns.

I think there is but it would require him taking an insane bump, a Mick Foley/Jeff Hardy-esque type of bump and getting stretchered out of the arena, this would all need to happen in the first 10-15 minutes though, get him out of dodge for about 45/50 minutes then when someone you really don't want as the Winner is the last man standing you'd see this battered and bruised guy stumbling through the crowd on his way to the ring.

I think the fans would pop if they actually had reason to believe his bump was genuinely bad and he might be really hurt and it would also protect him from the overkill booking that anyone going in early would need  to have in that journey.

Anyone notice on Raw that although the Wyatt family were ringside for the Reigns v All match they then didn't get involved in either the beat down of Reigns or going up against Brock?
I reckon that's due to WWE not wanting to give away for free (though in this day and age even the Rumble is free) Brock beating the lot of them, and that it'll be more of a moment if his music hits at the Rumble when the Wyatts are dominant.

Not a bad Idea Kayfabe but who would it be? Theres not alot of heels the crowd wouldnt get behind, Sheamus is the only believable option I can think off.

Brock is definitely going to take out the Wyatts in one go. It should set up a Mania match for him but I would rather see him vs Owens. But Owens vs Zayn in a ladder match for the IC title is the dream.

I think if they pulled that angle with Sheamus the crowd would sus it out very early and crap all over it. They don't have a good enough heel to pull that injury angle off. I think they could possibly try it with HHH but not if he's to be a surprise entrant. He needs to be on RAW tonight to build some heat.

I haven't been paying as much attention recently but is Reigns being boo'd at the minuet? I was under the impression that had sort of subsided.

He's been getting reasonably favourable reactions on RAW but nothing incredible. I think people are worried because its the Rumble and that tends to attract smart fans. Although its in Florida so he might get cheered in his home state.

Also because booking him to defend the title in the Rumble is a crazy way to keep Reigns over considering booking him too strongly is what has caused all the issues in the first place.

It's absolutely baffling how oblivious WWE are to the fact that booking Reigns that way makes people not like him. They've managed to make me, who was enjoyed Reigns, worry every time he's around. The Rumble is going to big for me, because if they don't pull something out of the bag, I just can't see myself staying interested enough to even bother watching Wrestlemania.

The quality of WWE is so, so low right now. The wrestling is actually as good as I can remember on a weekly basis, but the actual stories, promos, coherence and booking is so awful it simply doesn't matter.

They've botched Reigns since last year so much they've booked themselves into a damned if they do damned if they dont scenario. If they put him over it becomes 'Bleugh Super Cena 2.0' and if someone else goes over its 'Why should I believe in Reigns? He's a chump'. The 'One vs All' match could have been a great concept but they botched that aswell. Could have had him squash a couple of jobbers before getting taken further and further by the likes of Rhodes and ADR before facing someone like Owens or Sheamus.

The could even have had him start of against Ambrose and spin it like a 'Champion vs Champion - Winner take all' match so that both men would have to reluctantly fight, have them go 10 minutes then have Owens interfere and force the DQ and the next opponent steps up.

Stop making him go out there with a live mic and cut a long promo because he cant keep an audience yet. Keep him almost silent, short and sweet and let him do his talking in the ring. Less of the Tatertots and Sufferin' Succotash, more hard offense and anger. Part of me fears that the damage done is too great and he cant bring it back.

Kane is always said to be rather quiet. Goldust and Cody will both be very well respected I'd imagine, and you would imagine Titus has some sway, there's something about him, he holds himself correctly.

When you watch the stuff like R Truth's birthday surprise on Smackdown, the off air stuff, Reigns gets the mic cos of his position but Titus and Henry are often right in the mix.

Vince and corporate are quite hot on Titus because of all the charity work he does.

Id imagine Cody and Goldy are held in high regard because they have both lived in the business their whole lives. Drew Galloway says Kane was always a big help to guys in the back aswell, he says he liked to keep to himself but would never turn down the chance to help someone out. JBL would have been a leader in the day as he's very old school.
