Never done one of these here before, yet cannot do any worse than last years idiot.

                                                           Oliver Tomaszczyk 28 Prop
The players in CAPITALS will not be available until after the first 3 games of the Guinness League due to WC call ups
The past 5 seasons we have finished 3, 5, 3, 3 and 4 at the end of the regular season, I envision us finishing around the same position this season.
We will also be without Bernardo and Suter for a while early season, we have recruited Tomaszczyk to cover Suter, Underhill came on as a substitute in the Saracens friendly and there were favourable reports about him. If we have injuries in a few key positions especially early season, that prophecy above could be out the window. There has been talk we have signed a T/H from NZ, who had a serious ankle ligament injury, we are still waiting on his rehab. It needs to be soon or we will have to rely on Jarvis, which is not a good thought.
Just to add we won our first 7 matches last season, against most peoples and my expectations, and it will be more of a shock to me if we win either of our first 2 matches this season. Too many missing through injury and International call ups.

Where has the Saint gone these days ? His last Ospreys thread blew up spectacularly, yet he still defended it.

Does anybody know if he is banned, or taking a well needed self certified sabbatical ? I am missing debating with him. Whistle

The trouble is Lord you cannot debate with him, he said things on the first page of that topic, that if they were wrong he would apologise and eat humble pie and after they were proved to be wrong he did neither and the same applied to a few others as well.

They have been 2nd to Munster every year since around 2010 according to our website, or it was around the year when our merchandise hit the £1M mark, it is not far off that date.

That it is a tiny sample size g-estimated.

Unless they have gone to each manufacturer and somehow obtained sales figures in the UK or import figures to the UK by each individual design, how on earth would they know?

So these figures just ignored all sales from Lovell, JD Sports, manufacturer direct and thousands of other shops. Hell, even Tesco was pumping out Ospreys shirts - are you claiming that they are excluded from the figures?

Boys, on the day that this years shirt was unveiled, in the Press release it was quoted as 2006 as the year we rose to 2nd behind Munster, and outsell the AP as well, it also quoted that we outsell by nearly 2 to 1 the other Regions added together.

Would not "shift" be more accurate since the Os have been exceedingly generous over the years with their merch when purchasing STs?

Can you tell me apart from the last 2 seasons when kids under 16 can pay £20 extra for their ST and get a "FREE" shirt, when a ST holder had a generous offer on shirts, because I've never known of these supposed offers, other than 10% off all merchandise throughout the whole season.

I'm sure the historical offers are in the Os archives if you care to look. Have a browse. Not knocking the Os btw, but I do question whether they have ever sold more merch at RRP compared to AP clubs like Leicester or Northampton for example.

Considering I've been a ST holder for every year except 1 since we went to the Liberty and never had a shirt before Christmas, there are reductions in about April onwards, never when STs are purchased, considering there are fundamental differences in shirt colouring every year with us, there is also the Black and White variations for home and away matches, and we always have a 3rd jersey, some of the revenue goes to a nominated Charity which is not apparent in the clubs you mention and it is not hard to realise how we would sell more than those clubs. The figures as as been mentioned before are independantly verified. It is NOT our figures.

Snap. I never buy a shirt until they're reduced, even with the 10% ST discount. Call me a tightarris but I'm not shelling out £50 every year when the shirts have 40% off come feb. Plus the away ones are always better. Swanseawhiteatheart ;-)

Ospreys 2015/16 Season Empty Re: Ospreys 2015/16 Season

Post by wayne Wed 09 Sep 2015, 7:11 pm

After that terrible performance against Ulster, (not a dig at Ulster but you didn't have to play very well to beat us) it was heartening to see our backs coach Gruff Rees admitting as much, in his Munster pre-match Press Conference on line today he said that many who came on off the bench were so much better than the players who started, he singled out Thornton and Leonard, he mentioned how they adapted to changing circumstances very well.
Ashley Beck lasted very little time, and it has got worse for him, he has ruptured his ACL and the prognosis is that he will be out for about 8 months, after having surgery which will probably be later this week.
I'm hoping Dirksen or Howells, Leonard, Smith, Thornton and Baker start, if we had played Dirksen more often in the centre before, I would have both of the first 2 in. Habberfield wasn't bad, but you could see the class of Leonard straight from the off, I would also put our recent signing T/H on the bench instead of Cai Griffiths, and I just hope they have had some practice on how to tackle properly.

The figures as as been mentioned before are independantly verified. It is NOT our figures.

Okey dokes. Do you believe the figures though and do they compare with ST sales by any chance? I ask coz Leicester sold around 14k season tickets last year I believe and they're not cheap either.

Ospreys 2015/16 Season Empty Re: Ospreys 2015/16 Season

Post by wayne Wed 09 Sep 2015, 9:02 pm

Of course I believe them Dave, I'm a pretty cheeky sort of person and have asked people wearing Ospreys tops do they go to Ospreys games and the vast majority and I'm talking 95% or more say no, and these are not just in our area, apart from days when there are games on I see more Ospreys jerseys than any of the other teams jerseys wherever I go in Wales including the capital. The problem most other teams have, they have a set jersey, we have the same main colours every season, Black at home and White away with the different sponsors on both Jerseys, we also fetch out a Charity jersey which is nothing to do with either of the first team's jerseys colours. The team's supporters I have great admiration for are Munster, whose shirt AFAIK has basically not changed in years and are still top of the pile

Why?
I wouldn't believe Cardiff bloos if they said today was Wednesday. I'd check elsewhere to be sure. Call it a rugby decision if you like. Still not convinced the Os "sell" more jerseys than say Leinster, Leicester, Northampton, etc.

Dave, I only have to walk around the many towns of South Wales and further afield to see that Ospreys shirts outnumber the shirts of every other "Regional Team", I observed it yesterday in Ikea and the cafe area of Cardiff Bay, these figures have been quoted every year since 2006, so if they were wrong plenty of people have had many opportunities to prove and publish them, so why don't you go and have a look for them.

Around Milford Haven, and most of the 'civilised' Pembrokeshire, I would say that probably 50% or more of the 'this seasons' shirts you see are Ospreys shirts. However I would say if you were talking about regions colours (Hoodies/training tops/t-shirts/old shirts etc) that you probably see 60-30-10 Scarlets/Ospreys/Other. So I would agree the Ospreys are probably the second best 'shirt' retailer around, but when it comes to all the other stuff, I would not be too sure.

Ospreys 2015/16 Season Empty Re: Ospreys 2015/16 Season

Post by wayne Sat 12 Sep 2015, 11:40 am

It should be added that tomorrow there is a tribute to Jerry Collins, with a minutes silence, nobody wearing the 6 shirt, and as close to 6 minutes after the start as they can a standing ovation is planned, a fine tribute for a fine person, I spoke to him on one occasion, willing to answer the most inane questions with good humour.
I just hope we put in a performance worthy of the effort that Jerry put in for us, especially the first season, a class act.

Top investigative work Columbo and you win I reckon.
I should add that I was in IKEA twice during the last month and didn't spot a single Os jersey. Spotted loads of chairs and tables though.

Just hope we put in the commitment you put in today, we really need something out of this game and not just a LBP.

So they were Dragons fans! What's your problem with them expressing a preference not to wear the O's jersey?

Thought the respect shown for the memory of Jerry was first class, from the silence for a minute, which for a change in these days actually was for a minute, to the ovation on the 6th minute which was endorsed by Munster supporters as much as our own.

Ospreys 2015/16 Season Empty Re: Ospreys 2015/16 Season

Sad news about Rhys Webb, looks as though he is out all season and probably for the NZ tour next summer, according to Ospreys website out for 6 to 8 months including rehab and then fitness work.
I wonder if we will go looking for another 9, with Brendan Leonard and Tom Habberfield as first 2 choices, that is OK, then comes Martin Roberts, what a disaster that is waiting to happen.

Look on the bright side. If he'd made the NZ tour he'd quite likely be broke again anyway.

Is it any wonder that we are the best supported Region, not only are we the cheapest to watch, today we have an offer that for every point Dan Biggar scores, that is the percentage that is reduced for ST holders and Members for any merchandise bought from the Club Shop for the 24 Hours after the match ends, either in person or online. Great offer
