Maybe, but I hope not. Lattimore had buckets of talent as well.GSC wrote:The next Marcus Lattimore
First surprise of the draft for me was Joey Bosa to the Chargers, didn't see it coming at all.
Second surprise pick was Apple to the Giants, Giants draft board probably took a hit with Conklin and Floyd going in quick succession so Apple was their BPA.
Third surprise pick - Joshua Garnett. You build from the trenches and I expected to see a number of OL in the 1st round but Garnett wasn't one of them.
Laremy Tunsil's draft day slide, the character stuff was always there in the background but that video might just have swayed some teams at the last min. I can believe the Chargers and Ravens had Ronnie Stanley higher on their boards but I think Tunsil would have been the pick for the Titans at #8 without the events of last night. Jon Robinson said they always wanted Conklin, don't know if I believe that.
Only one player from Alabama drafted in the 1st round.
I got 11/31 for my mock draft this year, my best score for a mock draft prior to last night was 9/32 in 2011 so I'm happy with that.

Everyone on earth would like their team to take a shot at jack.
The reality is every NFL team that made a pick last night after the first few was unanimous that his knee is going to severely hinder him.

I'm with you GSC... if they ain't healthy why take a chance? Particularly with an early round pick? And especially in a draft like this where it's seemingly pretty deep at the positions the the injured guys are playing?

I don't think Jaylon Smith will ever play in the NFL. Waiting for a nerve to start firing sounds horrendous. To invest a high 2nd in him is ballsy (I have a few different words)
All these teams passed on Jack once for a reason. Potential microfracture surgery before he finishes his rookie deal is scary as hell.

Roberto Aguayo - the most accurate kicker in NCAA history.
A 5'9 DB from Alabama for us - sounds about right.

This is the kicker (giggle)
For a high pick, he best be automatic up to 50 yards.
Otherwise kickers are interchangeable.

He was at 50% for his last year but prior to that he was 18/22.

I just wonder who they thought they needed to get in front of.
Surprised Billings is still there, I think there's talk he might have a knee injury, but with how far he's fallen you have to wonder if it has something to do with all the allegations surrounding Baylor.

Nor do I. Will be a good back up but surely Cook would have wanted to go somewhere where he had a shot at starting. He was being touted as a possible 1st round pick.Lowlandbrit wrote:Really don't understand the Raiders trading up for Cook.
I think Miller Mitchell could do well at the Patriots.
I like Joe Haeg to the Colts, along with Ryan Kelly, to protect Andrew Luck. Expect a big season from Luck this year.

Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
So,catching up here with some of the chat as have really only been paying attention to what the Redskins have been up to....
1..... Billings... he was an obvious pick for the Redskins to make in Round 4 since we need a NT and yet we traded away the opportunity to draft a guy the "experts " reckoned would go in Round 1. Someone mentions above the "Baylor effect".... what's that? There's clearly an issue with Billings that led to him being passed on so many times....so what is it?
2. Did Tampa really give up a 3rd and 4th round pick to get a Kicker???

Look up Shawn Oakman, for one. As for Billings, seems like there might just have been too many good DTs, and teams weren't sure how much use he'd be on passing downs.Number-25 wrote:1. Outside of the kicker, I'm delighted with our draft.
Looking forward to seeing Beckham and Apple go at it during training camp.
