Broadly negative but largely irrelevant as the UK would sign up to it in a flash with or without the EU.

Of course it's negative. It's a warning against TTIP and from a Nobel Prize winning economist. Strange that some here complain about the a lack of attention to 'financial experts' yet seem to brush aside the warnings of one on the worlds leading economists.

You say the UK will accept it in a flash, even if Brexit win. Why? I know Cameron will be quick to sell the UK to the highest bidder, but there are plenty of voices against TTIP, including the leader of the opposition. It would also be very doubtful that Cameron will be in power if Brexit do win.

I haven't got around to reading all the comments in reply to the TTIP article, very busy, but will once I get a break.

Back through 1.48 now.  Volatility has definitely moved up a notch.

Could just be the septics second guessing things.  It's much more choppy than this morning though.

That is about the level of Brexit analysis.

Is this the first time in history that about half a population are going to vote for a pay cut and more austerity?

Turnout likely to be 70-72%, slightly higher than the General Election, as I predicted. There were some people on here, a few months previously, who bizarrely reckoned that turnout would be in the 50-60 bracket.

There's been no sharp movement either way in the last few hours, so if investors and the like are conducting their own exit polls, it would be reasonable to assume they are inconclusive.

Remain still 1/6. Leave still 4/1.

It's high turnout from 18-24 year olds, more likely.

Farage is a disgusting fear monger pandering to the worst and basest instincts in people.

A campaign based on ignorance and xenophobia and a false promise of a false past - the rose tinted view of a 1950s England when the simpler things in life prevailed and life was better - such BS - life was hard in the 50's.

Boris Gove is a political parasite. I hope they're crushed.

I will bring forth the full powers of the emancipator to ensure it is so.

What can you do, Nissan favour being in the eu and question future investment - Sunderland votes out anyway.

Gonna be a depressing time ahead, even if remain pulls it back it will be a narrow victory. Conservative infighting ahead and ukip wanting another referendum when uk doesn't get everything it "wants" in terms of reform.

Agree with this.  Elsewhere people are saying that there was never a proper debate.  The crucial issue that may have favoured a remain vote was discussion as to what proportion of Britain's issues are due to the EU and what proportion are due to British governments.  The debate never got that far.   That is the problem with having this arrangement we have had with the EU plus the potential incompetence, mismanagement and deception of British governments - it is difficult to know who is to blame.

Beginning to see infighting with the Labour party with the likelihood of a leave vote increasing.

Remain are in front at the moment: Scotland is voting on mass in favour of a remain.

The way things are going if Britain votes leave - it seems likely Scotland will split, which I think was always going to be the case.

London overwhelmingly in favour of remain.

With almost all our politicians pulling in favour of remain - if there is a leave ... politically I am not sure what will result.

The referendum debate has been non-existent.  The key seems to be what proportion of Britain's woes were due to the EU and what proportion were due to the British government.

I am reminded of a film called Airplane when the captain and co-pilot fall sick and one of the passengers has to take over the plane.  I suspect if there is a leave vote then that is what is going to happen: with the pilots being the British government and the plane being Britain.

If it is very close - there will have to be a recount ...

okay the BBC are saying there won't be a recount no matter what.
