Strictly speaking yes it would be. However I certainly won't be losing any sleep over it, as we've completed the job we've set out to do, and I'm still pinching my self that it's actually done, the title will be a nice bonus.

With Newcastle's budget, resources etc, they should of absolutely smashed this league to bits, but they haven't.

Not surprised, was obvious at both clubs that dodgy dealings/transfers were going down over the last decade, especially in connection with all the French deals.

Another stain on the club name. You just wonder if this pretty much makes Benitez's mind up about his future & he walks.

Well thats a bummer. I just popped in here to say congrats on your promotion.

Is there any chance Newcastle could be denied a return to the PL, or would any punishment be purely financial?

What would the HMRC have to do with Transfer Fee's?

It's over Tax and National Insurance fraud. At least read the information before posting.

Yes what would HMRC have to do with major financial transactions picard

I would guess the fraud relates to those transactions if the first stuff I read was correct Smile

A lot of reports that it's an individual matter rather than something the clubs have done, so probably no ramifications if that's the case.

Lee Charnley has been arrested.

That's what I've seen.

People are too quick to jump in and start slating clubs, talking up all these wonderful punishments when they don't know any of the story.

Income Tax and National Insurance Fraud covers multiple avenues, not just transfer fees.

My understanding is that HM Revenue & Customs are investigating transfer activity at Newcastle United & that Lee Charnley has been arrested.

Transfer activity rather than fees I misread granted but that's what I read first thing Smile

When in actual fact, Lee Charnley is one of a number of people, from various clubs, arrested over an International investigation into football clubs' transfer dealings.

Easy to put a spin on it and make it sound like one person/club! Wink

Even missing out on play offs just, he's still overachieved. I don't watch much of the Championship but by most accounts Monk has done a good job with Leeds. Meanwhile all the managers who have come after him at Swansea have done worse. Stick by what I said. He's a good manager, don't think he's ever going to be at the top level of management but he's done well this year and if he leaves Leeds he'll be in demand.

Wagner is only concerned about Huddersfield.
Want to keep players for play offs, no big deal.

Am sure he wasn't thinking about the teams at the bottom.

£100m is a lot of money to any club, why risk your best chance of winning that by playing players who need a rest?

Then there's the question of who's to say that those players aren't as good as the ones he rested? Wagner plays what HE feels is the best team, that's what he is paid for.

Ridiculous ruling and just smacks of the league trying to interfere.

One of the stories of the season was Birmingham City firing manager Gary Rowett in order to appoint someone with a bigger name to realise the club's vision of where it deserved to be.
