Yup, HSE have actually set up a hotline for you to call because they were fed up of dumb people blaming everything on them. Shame the EU didn't do the same thing. Just out of interest, if it were so inclined, could the European Union sue any newspapers who published lies about them, for that matter any political party?

The EU is not a single legal entity as such so the question would be who would sue them. The individual entities involved could sue depending on what was printed.

But it is quite a rocky road to do so, because if there is any speck of truth to it, it may be best letting it go to be honest, people will always think that the papers lie and will take with a pinch of salt, or their key demographic will anyway. However if you are challenged and lose, then it is proved in law you have done/said what they say you have done, or, even a part of it, then it does not look good.

Most press bollox has some grain of truth to it, or even if not, they can usually show some kind of due diligence to show they have researched it, and then a scant apology and the issue being made more mainstream that it already was ensues...

Hmm. Can the judge order a newspaper to print an apology on the front page.

I am unsure of whether the judge can dictate where in the paper the apology happens, only that it does.

They may well be able to, but I would expect it to be more of a steer than a direct order, but I am willing to be wrong on this.

It would have to be something really exceptional, such as the vile lies the Sun did around Hillsborough for example. But not really my specialist area to be honest mate.

Aye up notches. Got my test results back. Got to go see a Neurologist at Leeds as they found a branch artery between another artery and vein that has to potential to rupture. Saw the report and the words "haemorrhage" and "microbleed". I'm not a happy camper.

They didn't, I leave it at home as the wife says I have no use for it and will just have to have a sit down wee at work if the need arises.

They said I might need an op depending on what this next scan finds but that the offending artery/vein can be clip to prevent blowback and potential rupture...or something, to be honest, the more they find out about it the more concerned I get and the less information I retain as a result

Glad to hear it Dave. Just to make you feel better I've got three full day shifts as in 6 am to 10pm be a use my manager had his prostate exam and they found some polyps and will now operate up his bumhole. So I have to cover the day shift as well as morning and evening shifts.

Er glad to hear that they're on top of things not that you're getting more and more worried.

With the artery thing, it is a fairly std procedure to clip them, as you have loads, and they don't even need to perform a head transplant or anything (which is now a thing, go figure)

Excellent choice to be fair. Waiting for note 7 to be re released in good shape then order it. Rarely treat myself to anything like that but thought I'd get it and use it for organising and studying. Can't be doing this split shift for much longer.

The Google Pixel comes out on Oct 4th, so if you wait, it may be a) better or b) drive the note price down. It looks like it is going to be a similar type of phablet thing.

Afternoon all

Chicken and bacon sandwich (dry) and a steak slice (greasy, flaky, far too f*cking hot). Probably made Rick's lunch look like a five course Jacobean Feast 1/10

the chips had been under the heater and were like cardboard, similar the sausage, the beans were some over sugared home brand crap, and the with the egg the yolk was overcooked, and the albumen was undercooked. That barm cake was OK as was the milk.

Like I said, a five course Jacobean feast (or as Shah calls it, a mid-morning snack)
