Welcome to Season 8 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Fluxy) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (Fluxy) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1994.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made by sending a PM to the RFU (Fluxy) and it will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Round Bidding

    Open Bidding

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. £2m for 5 games, £1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Hopefully he can get firing again Matt although Welsh is a fine TH. Certainly gives us options in the front row which we've not had for a while.

Bristol smashed again, I'm glad we've got them in a few weeks whilst they're playing so poorly.

To be fair Bris have had a hard
Start to season playing Quins, wasps and Exeter. Woodward a great signing by them but it's all about staying up:
They have a huge injury list also.

Also they lost their best coach Matt Sherratt.Weird seeing my best mate jockey Sherratt getting the Wales coaching job.

As he said yesterday he certainly will not be bothered for international tickets unless
It's Wales vs England.

He has a proper rugby brain on him.

There's few easy games in the AP Matt. Getting 40pts put on you at home is not the way to stay up. All teams have injury issues, we've got some big players out too.

Will take Bristol 4-5 games to get used to the physicality and step up in quality between Championship and AP. Will be an interesting game against Newcastle who have looked pretty good at home and then got smashed by Bath!

Bizarrely Bristol are really missing Henson's presence in midfield, turning point against Quins was him going off injured, he seems to keep their backline calm, takes the pressure away from Pisi and his boot puts them into the right areas.

We were awful at Bath, our away form is stinking.

I find it's normally the opposite with promoted teams. They usually cause a few upsets straight away as teams know little about them. Bristol are just getting smashed. I hope they're still poor when we play them in a few weeks.

As irish proved last season, you will not win games or stay up with a leaky defence. Bristol seem to have that problem. Falcons defence always seems reasonably solid especially at home. Have to say though, that falcons v tigers game last week was abysmal, one of the worst and low quality games ive seen in a while, bar most irish games last season!

Bristol were pretty good against Quins though, to be fair to them there are quite a few teams that Wasps are capable of putting big scores on, when they click they can score bucket loads of tries, and Exeter have shown time and time again that they can put big scores on opponents as well. Could really ask for a harder start.

We had all the ball but Newcastle defended excellently. We just kept losing possession at key times.

We have some top class players like moriarty.
Why we started without laidlaw is a mystery.

Apparently we are signing campagnaro and my reaction to that is why? Bloke can't get a game at Exeter and we need front row.

At least we have worked out 12 trees is useless
And have dropped him the last few games.

Always knew it would be a bad season. Humph needs to go

I'm not sure Moriarty is top class, he was outplayed by Wilson I thought today.

Bizarre how you left Laidlaw on the bench, he's your best player by a distance imo. Sharples played well but you missed May, is he due back?

Moriarty is sublime.

Impressed against the kiwis in June and great all season.
He was one of our high points yesterday.

I think he will go on the lions tour. Also his lineout work is excellent

Certainly better than any 6 we have in England.

Can't agree with that Matt. I read Moriarty missed 8 tackles in one test in NZ, I don't think he'd get near the England squad never mind side.

He was outplayed by Wilson at the weekend who's a good AP player but nowhere near top class.

I thought I didn't imagine it:

Moriarty missed 8 tackles in this test and 5 in the last. That's not good enough tbh, certainly not for EJ's England.

Link goes to football scores?

Did you watch the game yesterday or the ones in NZ?

He was even good in the last test where Wales were running on fumes and spanked.

I would take him above robshaw and Haskell. He has a brain and unlike Haskell and robshaw he carries superbly. Would think It will be a toss up between stander, moriarty and Haskell for the 6 spots
To tour for the lions personally.

I watched all the games Matt. He was outplayed by Wilson yesterday but that's opinion I guess, Wilson was great.

Missing 13 tackles in 2 games is awful, just search for the game. You're lucky if Robshaw misses 2 in 5 games....13 is not "sublime" or top Int quality imo. I guess it depends what you want in your 6.

Wales Online is a comic book, I wouldn't put too much store in their ratings

Moriarty isn't particularly close to being the best 6 in the Premiership, and is he even going to start ahead of Lydiate at 6 if Faletau is fit to play 8?

He's a good player, but I don't think he can be seen as a leading contender for a Lions starting spot at this moment

Agree Bam. I think he's a steady option but his poor tackling was highlighted in NZ, Lydiate would not have missed 13 tackles in 2 games.

There's numerous options ahead of Moriarty in the AP, and a few more for the Lions.

Moriarty isn't particularly close to being the best 6 in the Premiership, and is he even going to start ahead of Lydiate at 6 if Faletau is fit to play 8?

He's a good player, but I don't think he can be seen as a leading contender for a Lions starting spot at this moment

Agree Wales online is a comic book like most newspapers and stats sites.

Lydiate holds Wales back due to his lack of carrying and moriarty is undoubtedly Wales first choice 6. Welsh backrow has always lacked balance as has no carrying.

Best 6 in Ap is burger. After that I would have moriarty level or above the likes of Haskell and robshaw etc.

Moriarty above Haskell & Robshaw is an extremely odd statement. I don't think Moriarty is first choice 6, certainly not after his showing in NZ.

Still can't believe Wasps beat Saints yesterday, talk about a backs to the wall job for pretty much 80 minutes, was only a few years ago that they put 70+ points on us at Franklins Gardens. Though Saints must have butchered 3-4 huge overlaps for tries and we were very lucky that Hughes' yellow card didnt lose us the game.

Simpson and Robson must both be putting a lot of pressure on Care and Youngs now for an England spot, think all 4 are going to be named in the EPS on Friday from what the papers are saying this morning. Cipriani certainly deserves a shot, but doesnt sound as though he will, he's been playing very well for us.

Robson perhaps but surely not Simpson Chris, I just don't see it with him. Robson has something about him for sure.

My mistake, both are already in the EPS squads, with Care getting quite a nasty knock to his ribs, both could get their chance. Be good to see them get a chance, thoroughly deserve it the form they have shown over the last season or so.

Robson has the best services and all round game about. Why we let him go is a mystery.

Simpson went well yesterday but Robson offers more control and is also as explosive. The try he set up at the end was great.

Saints are inept at taking their chances and are limited by Myler who is not up to top top level. Wasps struggled in scrum in first half but subs made a huge difference.

England need a good scrum half as youngs hit and miss and care up And down form wise throughout his career.

Cips has been great but I think his time
Has gone with England. Ford, Farrell etc offer the future and we need to look at next World Cup.

Shade has looked poor at 10 but much better at 12.

Looking at England objevtively ee need depth
At tight head a ball carrying 6 and to settle on wings. We also need back up at full back.

The form of Cowan dickie and george means we have great depth at hooker now. Dickies darts have improved out of sight and is turning in to a strength.

Taylor has gone well at wasps also but his darts have been up and down.
