GPB,
My comment was with regard to Sergio & Henrik missing Play-Off events and Rose knackered and wanting a breather following the Olympics.
No-one else involved with Willett playing in Europe instead.

I think Rory was ecstatic because, let's face it, he was out of it until he holed his 2nd on #16 for eagle - then he was just stealing, daylight robbery really, and he loved it. As you would.

Henrik was pretty thrilled with FEX win a few years ago.

Yup, but he wanted to rest his knee before the RC, understandable for a true Team guy. Who, incidentally, really needs to lead this week.

I also think Henrik was thrilled because he went broke after the financial crisis...

I think you'll find Henrik went broke thanks to unfortunate investments with a certain Allen Stanford who is now, I think, still doing time for his dodgy dealings which virtually bankrupted a number of sports stars.

Peter Willett has every right to call Americans idiots and worse...

But it seems to me idiotic in the extreme the timing of it..

If Danny gets stick for this it kind of proves his brother's point, even if it was foolish to say it

Yes and no. Imagine if it had been an American player and the match was in Europe. Not so sure the player would just be clapped at.

If it was an American player, probably. An American player's brother who most Europeans probably aren't even aware of? I doubt it

A wife maybe, or Spieths dad.

Anyway, PJ Willett's rant is quite funny. I also like his finale:

"A more immature mind than mine might resort to petty insults or unflattering generalisations."

Hope PJ Willet's rant doesn't lead to crowd trouble venting their anger at the Europeans. This will certainly put the European players under pressure as PJ Willets words are broadcast over US television.

Mac, you are such a "Holier than thou" plank. Can you not see this is humour? Whether you find it funny or not is not the issue.

Did you deride PJ Willet after his comments re Spieth at the Masters? that was in a similar vein and intended to be taken the same way. You take yourself, and your synthetic outrage far too seriously.

Friday mornings pairings crucial for Europe....

If we can knock of your experienced pairings early......Then we'll probably feast on the rookies come the afternoon...

If you can win early you may get the mo.....Make no mistake the pressure is on the USA to perform.....

You need a good start this time....Your team lacks leaders..

Can't see it.....

17-11/18-10.........11-5 going into the singles for me..

What happens at previous Ryder cups means nothing now..

Hope you guys are well.......

Exactly. It IS funny and it is written in a clearly ironic tone. But since it has created a stir there's no way back for Danny boy than to apologize. We all know things are being taken out of context, and this has too. But it is what it is, and Danny has to pay the price, no matter if it's fair or not.

You keep calling on the same old arguments. Rose, Kaymer, Stenson, McIlroy, Westwood, Garcia not leaders? Whilst the American "leaders" hardly have a good record do they?

Remember what the "rookies" of Colsaerts and DuBuisson did to America? Stick to American sports Trussman, you don't know anything.

Truth hurt Truss? He's not talking about Americans, he's talking about the ignorant, idiotic, fat, pudgy, irritating section of the American golf fan.

It's a partisan and humorous piece about the Ryder Cup for gods sake, stereotyping to the extreme so that even pudgy ignorant idiots should be able to see it's ironic. But apparently not.

Try to read the whole piece, rather than refer to headlines only.

You can tell he's taking the urine by the phrase "world-class athletes". Hardly in the Farrah/Bolt/Brownlee mould are they?

Moving on.....

Wonder if Clarke is hoping for a bit of Spanish magic and maybe putting Garcia with Bello....

Worth a dig.........Spanish partnerships have a habit of working.....

Even if they sometime test the spirit..

Still we'd all love Seve to be there.......Can still remember his match with Lehman in 95.......Don't think he hit a single fairway and was still all square halfway through.....Amazing heart and doggedness..

Curtis Strange is still trying to forget that Ryder cup..

If the PJ Willett article was supposed to be humorous and light hearted, the esteemed BBC were doing everything they could to sensationalise it, repeating the Willet's accusation on all their news reports every half hour.   Danny Willet is reported by the BBC as finding it difficult to focus because of it - and maybe his heart is no longer in it.  He has been well supported by the US as an aspiring golfer and throughout his golfing career:

"Willett signed with FirstPoint USA in 2005 and secured a golf scholarship he played two seasons for Jacksonville State University (JSU) in the U.S. During his time with JSU, he was the 2006 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and won medallist honours at the 2007 OVC Championship. He was a first-team All-OVC performer and a member of the OVC's All-Tournament Team in both seasons." ... Wikipedia

All eyes will be on Danny Willett to see how he performs.
