Yellow card and penalty try I think he's trying to make up ground for Ulster now.

When you use foul play to stop a player that close to the try line and would have scored a try without the foul play penalty try is an obvious decision

There have been some big calls by the ref in this half. I guess you could say that they have just about evened out!

I don't think that was a pen try, as it looked like he got his arm around the players leg, poor technique but managed it. That said the try disallowed earlier should have been given so that's evened things up a bit I guess.

So Davies has been irredeemably Poopie to both sides? Well that's a kind of balance, I suppose.

Can't really argue with the score. Ulster have had the game and really should be much further ahead.

Im glad he gave it. But can we say he would have definitely scored? Well probably as he is ficking amazeballs, but they had two tracking over and he only had a yard of space?
On balance both teams can feel hard done by.

He is so terrified of making a wrong call that he is going to the most extreme lengths to mitigate the risk. Every decision even remotely close to being important he is going to the TMO or touch judges. Also, that knock on against Henderson wasn't a knock on but he said advantage immediately and thus had to give it.

I work with a few people like that. So terrified of making a wrong decision they don't make any at all, or worse make sure it can never be there fault if it's wrong.
But we know the laws so the ref is always right

Are we really trying to justify refereeing decisions by two wrongs make a right?

I like Davies but he has been absolutely guff tonight.

But I suppose as long as he's equally guff to both teams then it's fair - I'm pretty sure that's the Pro 12 referees motto?
