Tactics

We have picked a lot of physical ball carriers to get us over the gain-line and some backs in good try scoring form to take advantage of attacking chances. We want tries and have picked a real impact bench to finish the game strongly (Shillcock also plays no9, not just a FB).

Kicking - Options throughout the backs. Kick in behind the wings for territory, aim for space not the man. Challenge wings positioning, Wings free to drop back for the counter off their kicks

Saracens a level above in the set piece and the breakdown and despite a solid backrow from Glasgow, they can't really match much of the Saracen pack. Similarly, especially with the class of Veanui and Thomas, the Saracens backline is a class above

Very strong Sarries pack and most of them bringing good form into this game. Same outwide and at half back, Glasgow not looking like the force they were for the past few seasons. Good away win here.

If Glasgow had the team that played against Tigers in real life this weekend, they'd have this one comfortably, Sarries just have enough in the pack, but Fraser and Hughes struggling with form. Taylor/Deveto combination key.

Glasgow have had better teams and Sarries have enough to get the victory.

Sarries draw a rotated Glasgow side first up and should win comfortable enough. Taylor not the most attacking at 10 and a decent back row battle prevent the tbp.

Glasgow's actual line up this weekend is a lot stronger than the one Sarries face, and its difficult to see an area where Glasgow even compete with a strong Sarries side. Sarries will have a set piece platform, and the pack to dominate even away from home, and I see a comfortable win for them

Toulon are always strong at home, and have a great backrow, but still look fallible in the scrum and a full strength Sale side is pretty much too strong for them, with much better control from halfback, and a bench that even beats Toulon for depth 

Toulon 22-28 Sale
Pretty solid pack battle, front row could see Sale getting a slight nudge and Gill vs Cane will go the way of Cane. Half backs are where Sale take the game getting better ball and territory with the control they bring. The Toulon pack won't make it simple but Sale snatch and grab a good away win.

Sale lucky to avoid full strength Toulon team and manage to get a great away win. Sexton looks to be getting a bit of his form back and will have a huge influence on the game.

Another team not so strong! The keys come in the front five and half backs.

Toulon have some talents in their side, but up against a very strong Sale side, can't see how they'll have much of an impact. Sale win comfortably on the road

Toulon 24 - 25 Sale
Another where its a shame it wasn't full strength Toulon. Sale have too much against a 2nd string Toulon even in France.

Scarlets 16 - 21 Wasps
Scarlets maybe edge the backrow, and ckmpete at halfback, but with Barritt marshalling Williams and Scarlets' strong wing-FB combo matched with an equally good Wasps duo, Wasps have an advantage generally across the park and at the set piece and steal an away win 

Scarlets 22 - 21 Wasps

Scarlets not been great so far this season and Wasps wll cause them all sorts of trouble up front and out wide.

Wasps again too strong although it's a tidy Scarlets outfit and they'll be no pushovers.

Scarlets look fairly good this season, can't see Wasps getting the away win. 

Scarlets 21-24 Wasps
I can see Scarlets giving Irish a bit of a scare but the strength of the bench will finish them off 

Scarlets 19-16 Wasps
The welsh side in good nick and more was needed in the Wasps back row to overcome them.

Scarlets 23 - 25 Wasps
Scarlets looked decent at the weekend, but that was a weaker side than the one facing Wasps. No tactics makes a difference, and keeps it closer with the pests lacking direction, but think they'll come through on individual talent

Scarlets 13 - 22 Wasps
Wasps too good across the board and win a relatively one- sided contest.

Falcons 23 - 15 Montpelier
Newcastle can take on and beat the Montpelier scrum and tight 5, and take away the most vital aspect of the Montpelier game approach. This leaves Montpelier with no platform and the strong and in form Falcons' back 3 take advantage 

Falcons 26-21 Montpellier
Good form for Falcons front row helps them here, a good second row battle and Falcons stronger in the back row. Half backs and centres will be a solid battle but Falcons more dangerous out wide and have more to offer from their bench.

Falcons 24-20 Montpellier

Newcastle Falcons 26 - 24 Montpelier

Newcastle 29-20 Montpelier
A tougher encounter away from home but obviously don't travel too well and Falcons look in decent shape. 

Newcastle 26 - 22 Montpellier 
Home team set out really well, Farrell and Smith from the bench will have a big impact too.

Different game at home. The Falcons are a bit too strong all over 

Newcastle 27-24 Montpellier
Pretty strong side from the french but Falcons haven't underestimated them. Ben Smith could do with a break after the last Blesidoe game after being flown over for this one

Newcastle 26 - 24 Montpellier
Probably the game of the round. Falcons went strong and had to against a rugged and tough to breakdown Jake White side. Get a good home win.

Quins 27 - 25 Clermont
Clermont match the Quins' scrum, but Quins are ahead in the second row and just have a bit more in their dynamic backrow, though Clermont are no slouches here. The HB combos both work well and are hard to separate, as are the classy back lines with lethal back 3s.  At home Quins win, but they will need tactics to win away

Quins 26-22 Clermont
Great game and a solid Quins front 5 to cause Clermont issues here and ensure they don't get great ball. Back row battle is a bit closer with both teams nullifying each other here. The return of Joseph targets the one weakness in that Clermont back line at 13 and will be enough, with good ball, to give Quins a solid win. Will be tougher away from home.

Closer encounter than some of the other games with the line-ups quite close. Home advantage just takes it.

Quins 25 - 20 Clermont
Not sure Clermont are the same side they were a few years back and Quins have an excellent European Cup team. They have enough power in the pack to unleash their backline. 

Quins 26-23 Clermont
Another team who will benefit from this being at home. Quins have better forwards to the strength of the Clermont backs.

Quins 21-19 Clermount 
Slightly weakened Clermount side and see Quins taking this at home  but a bit more will be needed against a full strength side away

Quins 33 - 24 Clermont
Shame that a few of these big games are against weakened French sides, otherwise could see a huge battle between these 2. As it is, Quins have enough quality to squeeze ASM in the pack, and have plenty of threats out wide to finish them off
