I've posted this on the Lions thread too - just stupid and unprofessional comments to make to a national news outlet.

If there are any 50:50 calls in selection where a Welsh player is preferred in squad or match selection, then we now have the official line as to why.

Way to foster collegiality and team spirit Wazzer.

Apparently, when Ancient Greek writers visited Wales, this gave them the inspiration to come up with the Cyclops!

If Scotland finish above Wales in the 6Ns then surely having a Scottish coach or not in the Lions set up will be irrelevant when it comes to selecting the squad? You would have thought so anyway..

Phil Burleigh has only received a 1 week suspension - I'm glad common sense has prevailed.

The Edinburgh Rugby centre, Phil Burleigh, has been suspended for one week following an independent Disciplinary Hearing in London today (Wednesday, 14 December 2016) arising from his club's European Rugby Challenge Cup Round 3 match against Stade Francais Paris at BT Murrayfield.

Burleigh was sent off by referee, Craig Maxwell-Keys (England), for striking the Stade Francais Paris second row, Pascal Papé, in the 55th minute of the match in contravention of Law 10.4 (a).

Law 10.4 (a) Striking
Under World Rugby's Sanctions for Foul Play, Law 10.4 (a), Striking a player with a hand, arm or fist carries the following sanction entry points - Low End: 2 weeks; Mid-Range: 5 weeks; Top End: 8 to 52 weeks

An independent Disciplinary Committee consisting of Simon Thomas (Wales), Chairman, Rhian Williams (Wales) and Marco Cordelli (Italy) heard evidence and submissions from Burleigh, who pleaded guilty to the offence, from the Edinburgh Rugby Chief Executive, Jonny Petrie, and from the EPCR Disciplinary Officer, Liam McTiernan.

In upholding the red card decision, the Committee found that the offence was at the low end of World Rugby's sanctions and selected two weeks as the appropriate entry point.

Taking into account Burleigh's clean disciplinary record, his guilty plea and expression of remorse, the Committee decided to reduce the sanction by the maximum of 50 per cent before imposing a one-week suspension.

Burleigh is free to play on Monday, 19 December. Both the player and EPCR have the right to appeal the decision.

And in similarly good new Pape has received a 'Citing Commissionaire Warning' - essentially saying that he should have been given a yellow card.

Pascal Papé (Stade Francais Paris)

The Stade Francais Paris second row, Pascal Papé, has been issued with a Citing Commissioner Warning following his club's European Rugby Challenge Cup Round 3 match against Edinburgh Rugby at BT Murrayfield on Saturday, 10 December 2016.

Papé fell to the ground in an exaggerated manner in the 55th minute of the match after being struck by the Edinburgh centre, Phil Burleigh, in contravention of Law 10.4 (m) - Acts contrary to good sportsmanship.
The warning was issued by the match Citing Commissioner, Eddie Wigglesworth (Ireland).

Notes

Citing Commissioner Warning
World Rugby introduced Citing Commissioner Warnings in 2014 as a mandatory provision where Citing Commissioners are present at matches. A Citing Commissioner Warning is issued where the Citing Commissioner detects foul play, but determines that the conduct (in the words of World Rugby) "falls just short" of the red card threshold.

For the purposes of the player's disciplinary record, a Citing Commissioner Warning counts as a yellow card for foul play. A combination of three yellow cards for foul play and Citing Commissioner Warnings in the same season will result in the player being called to a Disciplinary Hearing.

There seem to be a plus/minus thing going on at the side of posts...is that it?

Which after a test on RDW's post seems to be a rating/like based system.

Were you looking at one of your own posts (which you can't vote on)?

Nope, not on this thread or any other recently updated one, e.g. Ulster.

And it's not the platform - neither my laptop (Windows) not phone (Android) show them.

I can see the coloured lines, but not the vote buttons. Strange!

It is a + and _ sign separated by a -

Just to the left of the text about the poster on the right hand side of each post

I'm fairly confident I'll be minus double figures by the end of the day!

think a Welshman complained when someone clicked the minus sign when he suggested that AWJ and Halfpenny were going to be the co captains of the Lions and that Gavin Henson was going to be the starting 12!

John Andress retires. Body is not up to it anymore (Alan Solomons overplayed him)

Well if the form book is anything to go by Glasgow should romp to an easy win on boxing day. The thing is, if the form book is anything to go by then Edinburgh wouldn't have won the cup 2 years in a row!

On that note a thread is required!

Interesting article on the BBC website about Northampton, saying they could be investigated by the EPCR for putting out a weakened team. I wonder if this will have an effect on the team Racing puts out for the Muster games
