Boundary change proposals - Affront to Democracy.....
When you get old remember to tell your kids about Gordon Brown...The last non Conservative PM .......Because if these boundary changes get put through he'll probably be the last we see for a longtime..
According to YOUGOV if they go through as is ....Labour will need a vote lead of 13.5% to get a majority.......
To put this in perspective...............
1997........Blair 43.2%............Major 30.7%..............(Hung parliament....labour largest party)
2001........Blair 40.7%............Hague 31.7%.............(Hung parliament...Toss up which will be largest party)
2005........Blair 35.2%............Howard 32.7%...........(Hung parliament...Tories comfortably largest party)
1997 was a landslide....
Oh and Cameron wouldn't have needed the Lib dems in 2010 he has a majority of near 70/100 on these boudary changes.......
Under the current proposals the lib dems will go from 9mps to 4mps......So there is a silver lining..
Sobering stuff..

Don't know enough about the proposals TBH. I assume they're to equal out the # of voters needed to elect an MP?

All incumbents do it...
You need 6/7 percent to win a Tory majority at the moment.
But this is taking it..

I guess Labour and Lib Dems will have to sell a better message to voters...

So barnstorming Blair wouldn't have got a majority against a useless, tired and thoroughly demoralised Major government in 97...with these proposed changes......and the response is...
"I guess Labour will have to sell a better message".............
Forget the 13.5% lets make it 15%...

It's true though. If they can't get a message across that people would vote for, they aren't going to get in are they? It's true whatever party we're talking about. Maybe the rump of England, in particular, are simply more in tune with typical Tory rhetoric?TRUSSMAN66 wrote:So barnstorming Blair wouldn't have got a majority against a useless, tired and thoroughly demoralised Major government in 97...with these proposed changes......and the response is...
