Because they have Finch and McCullum...however he should defo be playing ahead of Dwayne Smith!

and WI win an unlikely win over Pak.....muhc like the unlikely win of Pak in the first test....

a much bigger blemish for Pak though to lose

Ben stokes has been value for money.....inspite of being the most expensive player.....he has made a big difference in atleast 4 games

Woakes has also been very good.......although KKR have used him as their main seam bowler...they have missed a trick...by not promoting him up the order...especially now that Narine's pinch hitting as an opener has been found out and Uthappa their No.3 is injured....Woakes could easily open or bat at 3

Butler has also been good as the opener for Mumbai although for some reason today they have replaced him with Lendell Simmon

Strokes , the only man in IPL history to do a 300 run , 10 + wkt double...with a stellar season for Pune.... will miss the knock out stages.....and why ?

To drink beer in Spain in the guise of some training camp...to get to know each other

IPL doesn't like fragile players

Poor guy. He wont attract quite such a premium price in future.

Looking at the stats I wouldnt say Buttler had a great IPL, better than the previous year but hardly a glut of runs like Stokes. Agree that Woakes has been under utilised with the bat.

But all in it signals some depth for England going into the CT . Its only really Roy whos lacking form (expect outrage form Surrey mafia)

Pune on the other hand will have lost two of their best players for the knock outs and gone from looking like a real power to no hopers despite winning their last game at a canter.

Theres an ecb training camp type thing in Spain - I agree with others he should be playing the playoffs, he'll get more from playing a high pressure match than throwing a few balls at the fielding coach

Cheers olly, that is pretty ridiculous, some common sense needed i think.

Then again he's due some player management and rest. Mental as well as physical. The guys in the line in 3 international formats as a bowler batter and fielder in addition to his T20 mercenary status and domestic resposibilities.
Whilst he's obviously a guy whonthrives in the limelight and under pressure his workload needs to be kept under control to avoid physical and mental meltdown

Pune make it to finals even without Stokes....Rahane at the start played a stylish , classy inning....and Dhoni at the finish, pumped up all the reserves

Winston Sundar a tall, 17 year old spinner bowled very well....flight, loop and dip.....fastracked from junior cricket by IPL talen hunters....this kid is one to watch out for in first class cricket
