Serena Pregnant :)

Congratulations to Serena Williams on her expectant motherhood!

As a side-note it means she won the AO whilst pregnant.

I wonder if she knew at the time.

Stands at Court 24, Serena 23, Graf 22.

However Court won hers in the 1960s an era where in the men's game the slams were second tier events. However,I'm not sure if the same was true for women. Was there much of a professional circuit? Anyway, Court was still cleanng up at the slams in the open era, including a CYGS in 1970.

Court was absent from the tour for most of 1972 due to the birth of her own first child, before coming back and winning 3 slams in 1973, then being absent again for her second child in 1974, and then back again in 1975 reaching some slam QFs and SFs in singles and doubles titles, then third child in 1976 absent, then back in 1977 very briefly but then retired permanently after learning that she was expecting her fourth child.

However Court, born 1942, was much younger than Serena when she learned of the birth of a child so it may have been easier to come back.
