We need to talk about: Wanheng Menayothin 48-0
Now I'm not going to take credit for starting this discussion because Hancho Boxing posted a video about this guy earlier
Wanheng, or Chayaphon Moonsri, has a record of 48-0 (17KO) and has been WBC Minimumweight Champion since 2014. He is also ranked #1 by the Ring Magazine. I like the look of this guy, picks his shots well, has decent power and looks hard to beat and he's getting close to Floyd's 50-0 record.
I know his record isn't as good as Floyd's but Hancho put a comment on the video stating that it's common for Thai fighters to stay active, often fighting guys who have small records but are in fact Muay Thai fighters (which is where Wanheng started) and have a grounding in Boxing. Also, he has never fought outside of Thailand which he can hopefully rectify.
I've always enjoyed watching the lower weight classes and this guy looks the business. Hopefully this video by Hancho can alert the world to his talents and maybe even get some recognition from the US Broadcasters.

Decent power? 35% KO ratio would suggest otherwise - even if it is the lower weights.
Not seen much/heard much of him so will have look later.
Not enough coverage is given for the lower weights, not too sure why, it has produced some fine talents over the years.

I think because:
It hard to watch well - too quick.
Dominated by Asians - rather than tuning in to countrymen.
They are 8 stone midgets - most people can't relate.

While I don't doubt the comment about opponents records and kick boxing, the other reality is there are fewer professional boxers at the lower weights and therefore less competition. Throw in how close the weight classes are together, which are disproportionate to the gaps at the higher weights and you can get multi weight world champions who've beaten nobody.
Doesn't mean you can't have great champions it's just they generally come with more asterisks than those at a higher weight.
As Scott says, I think unless your 5'2 and 8 stones it's hard to relate to them, the action often looks a bit frantic for my personal taste. Not their fault, just how it is.
