It's fantastic. Love the open world, love the combat and it still has that super-corny dialogue.

just started this the other day, bit of a old school in that i liked FF in turn based. plenty of other rpg's out there (witcher etc) with live fighting. dont mind the fighting system although i am finding it very easy. haven't bothered with the wait system yet. up to level 14 now but at level 7 i was beating hunt contracts of level 17+

havent done much of the main story yet, just been walking round in fields for the most part. although the back story is helped that i watched kingsglave recently on a flight

That's what I like about the combat. If you're good at playing as a team with your buddies, you can team up to take down very tough enemies.

Massively hooked by this one, and I have hated everything after FFX. Feels like a final fantasy title, has an engaging story and good old cheesy dialog and exceptional visuals. I am currently level 40 in Chapter 6, I have not been this keen to finish work, gets the kids into bed and turn on the xbox since Mass Effect 2.

Thought FFXII was quality as well.

I am around level 70 and just starting the tougher hunts and dungeons (the locked door ones)

Personally, I found 12 to have a confusing story line, with un-engaging characters, but a reasonable fighting system and I did like how they made the random encounters visible for the 1st time.

I have been wondering about those locked doors, are they "boss" monsters or secret summons/Aeons like in 10 or something else?

The locked doors are high level dungeons with high level inner bosses that can only be accessed when the story is finished. And you can get decent weapons etc from beating them.
Summons:

I spent a lot of time on 12 I loved the hunt system in it, and liked the way that actions could be pre-set, but I can see your point.

ive still barely touched the main quest. still in chapter 3 and im just shy of level 40. main quest is going to be a breeze when i get to it.

i liked ff12, found it a lot easier than others and the story was a bit of a rip off star wars story but in the whole found it was ok. thought it suffered from following X, which is one of my favorites.

just been cracking on with the main story, beat leviathan which i thought was a strange battle. no idea what i was doing, just bashing attack

just off the train and trying to get get into the tower with only the ring to use. feels like the main story is building to a finale, which i hope not dont feel like ive scratched the surface yet. knowing ff adryn will pop up few times yet

Cool, I wont spoil anything for you.

Agreed on Leviathan though.

I am almost done with pretty much everything now, 1 locked dungeon, 1 secret dungeon, and about 4 hunts, including the big bad, and then platinumed by the looks of it...

Finally got round to finishing this.

Kinda weird game. Kinda limps along for the most part then ramps up the tension in the last 2 missions

Credits with the photos hit me right in the feels though.

finished this the other day, thought overall it was ok. the story didnt really grip me like other FF and found myself going weeks without playing it. dont think ive got it in me to go do all the dungeons etc.

did enjoy the battle with ifrit, but thought the battle with ardyn was a mess of flying around just button bashing. bit like Leviathan battle.

overall think it was a solid game overall a average FF title. certainly got more enjoyment out of the witcher 3

finally get round to playing arkham knight now which ive had since christmas but still haven't played.

Question as I'm trying to avoid spoilers and stuff - I've not read above.

What level did you need to be to complete the main story? Really struggling as I've not done many sidequests. I've gone back with Umbra but not sure how many sidequests I need to do.

End of Chapter 13:

I finished it without doing many side quests.

The last 2 bosses were pretty easy too. The difficulty in FF tends to be balanced around optional bosses/content, not the main story.

Not really they're all fairly standalone titles.

First half of the game is a lot better than the second half

Just made it to Chapter 3 last night, my group are lvl 21, slowly making it through the game, I have a pain in my arse with the drop ships Laugh a quick smack of Thunder and it usually gets rid of them quickly, I got caught lastnight out at night and had to fight one of those electric leopard beasts, that's was an experience Shocked

Up to lvl 25 now and chapter 4. Found a place with a lvl 50+ Gryphon flying overhead but it never lands so I just waited directly underneath it and the guys kept peppering it for several hours until it died, went up 2 whole lvls as a result!

think that griffin is one of the later hunts

if your struggling with the ships make sure you get electric weapons. do decent damage on the robots. after a while there more of chore than any threat
