Floyd should fight Crawford or winner Mikey/Spence. Manny’s easy work for him

No chance Hermy, Floyd and Manny are passed it now and he's got a ready made excuse if he loses against the top men in the division (been out too long, years catching up etc) both should hang the gloves up for good

How did Broner think he won last night, eh? Delusion to a new level. What a boring fight it was too

Don’t really need the Floyd rematch do we.. we know Manny’s not as good against defensive fighters it’s a futile money grab on both sides why didn’t they fight when they were in they primes

However..

If Floyd beat Crawford

and..

Manny beat Mikey/Spence

You’ve got a real fight..

Floyd won’t do his side of the bargain though- him against Terence is on paper a 50/50 and we know Floyd not into 50/50’s

Too much cynicism floating around the rematch atm  do those two fights first and it might do big numbers

Floyd got enough money let’s see him close out his career with some legacy fights.. Bud Crawford for starters.. now that’s a fight that would have a real buzz to it no disrespect to Amir

Mayweather won't fight Crawford due to his feud with Arum/Top Rank. Crawford isn't a big draw like Manny, so Mayweather won't risk his 0

Marcus Browne beat Badou Jack to win the interim WBA light heavyweight title, essentially becoming mandatory for Bivol's full title. That will end up at purse bids as Haymon seems to genuinely hate Hearn.

Whilst I don't recommend anyone to look it up, Jack suffered a grotesque cut to his forehead and it was surprising he managed to last the full 12 rounds

I'd say it's pretty unlikely as do massive numbers. Crawford is only really a draw in Nebraska and we all know Mayweather ain't going there.

Mayweather vs Thurman or Mayweather vs Spence are bigger fights

THe road of least resistance for Mayweather would be to fight Thurman tbh. Thurman is so inactive.

The Spence fight could be a passing of the torch fight...but Mayweather doesn't really want to pass the torch

Bob will work with anyone and Floyd can do anything he wants he could make that fight happen with Crawford wouldn’t have to speak to Bob in person

He might get beaten though and we’d all be able to say he wasn’t as good as all that handpicked his opponents

Interesting situation regarding Marcus Browne and his mandatory shot at Dmitry Bivol. Browne will not be taking up that option. He's also WBC mandatory and will face Oleksandr Gvozdyk in the summer.

Badou Jack's cut was NASTY. Amazed he lasted the full 12 - guess he was waiting for the hail mary that never came.

And Broner's face when the result was read out. laughing A delusional bad loser.

Gvozdyk is clearly number 1, his skills are level above everyone else at 175.

Bivol is pretty average as his performances against a journeyman Chilemba and semi retired Pascal showed. Coupled with Bivol continually talking about fight at 168.

Beterbiev's aura got somewhat damaged when he was nearly KO'd by Callum Johnson. Make no mistake though if Beterbiev lands he KO's anyone at 175.

Alvarez is the unknown as he was losing against Kovalev until he landed that one big shot and that changed the whole fight.

It's worth mentioning that Hearn wouldn't make Beterbiev vs Bivol and subsequently Beterbiev's quit DAZN. Bivol is being protected.

1. Gvozdyk
2. Beterbiev
3. Bivol/Alvarez

I think Gvozdyk might have the best footwork in the division and is a tidy boxer at range but is there a possible weakness in the chin department which one of the top fighters might be able to exploit?

I’m not saying there is but time will tell

There's certainly talk of Gvozdyk having a weak chin, but even a slugger like Stevenson couldn't penetrate his defensive work.

Maybe Beterbiev could KO him but I think Gvozdyk would school him tbh

Just something I saw in the Stevenson fight a subliminal moment

Gvozdyk seems like a good guy though so I hope you’re right I have no dog in the race I don’t reckon any of Beterbiev/Bivol/Gvozdyk are as good as a prime pre vodka-addled Kovalev tbh but they’re three very good fighters I reckon Beterbiev beats Bivol were they to fight right now but it’d be a good fight

Big night for Thurman on Saturday after two years out of the ring. Lopez is no mug and has been in with some big name fighters. Obviously building to a fight with Spence somewhere down the road.

Eleider Alvarez vs Kovalev 2 at the weekend which may have been an absolute classic if it didn't have Kovalev's court hearing coming up in a few weeks time. I (along with I assume most people) probably had Kov ahead on the cards when he got clobbered, which was an absolute peach of a punch to be fair. Alvarez UD the likely outcome perhaps as I'm not sure Kovalev is the same fighter he used to be?

Also read that Commey is fighting on the card with the eventual plan if he wins to put him in with Lomachenko which doesn't sound like much of a prize to me....

Yeah looking forward to this one about this alleged assault sounds like a total set up to me I don’t think punching a woman in the face is Kovalev’s style tbh

Boxnation just about holding on showing this one the channel in essence is the late Saturday night stuff they missed out on the first Kovalev/Alvarez and Garcia/Easter two they really should have picked up

Fell asleep before the Thurman/Lopez fight the other day the production so dull. All the stick he used to get but quite miss the late nights with Bunce and guest

But where’s the content going to come from?

Kovalev fighting to keep his career alive can he come back from a crushing defeat like a great champion finished most probably if he loses this one

Probably not worth getting in a discussion over the specifics of a felony. Time will either condemn him or absolve him and there’s nothing helpful we can possible say here.

On Boxnation I agree with you and I’ve unsubbed from it now. A lovely idea but the sport is so fractured it will be hard for one channel to get together the fights that matter. The fact that two big second rate lumps in White and Chisora got headlines and a PPV when Josh Taylor who seems destined for a world title couldn’t even get on the television!

The sport’s a mess you get on ppv these days more if you’re known to the public rather than the quality of the fight. In an ideal world only the very very best fights between fighters at the pinnacle of their division should be on ppv

The PBC killing the great welterweight division at the minute not working with Arum too

Promoters ruining the sport have no respect for the sport or the fans

And did the Americans think just for a second Bob Arum was on their side? Did they for a split second think Bob was replacing ppv with his streaming channel!

On a brighter note, tomorrow night on Sky Sports Fight Night Ted "The Big Cheese" Cheeseman is fighting Sergio Garcia (probably not the golfer, though The Big Cheese knocking out golfers would be money). Two undefeated prospects in an absolutely stacked super welterweight division.

The Big Cheese being probably my second favourite boxing nickname of all time behind Antonio "Shake N Bake" Baker who went the distance with Nathan Cleverly years ago.

Sergey Kovalev regained the WBO light heavyweight championship with a dominant UD against Eleider Alvarez. Kovalev was a fighter reborn under new trainer Buddy McGirt, the stamina issues from the second Ward fight and first Alvarez fight didn't reappear. The scorecards read 116-112 116-112 120-108, I felt 118-110 was a true reflection.

Kovalev in position to unify against Beterbiev with the winner facing Gvozdyk.

McGirt did a good corner, excellent corner. Stopped the headhunting and the stamina came back thought they might work well together

Kov can be in two great fights with Bivol and Gvozdyk and we’ll know more about Sergy when Artur Beterbiev cracks him flush. That’ll be the acid test on his chin. If he’s still a bit too open for a right hand maybe he could work on that before facing Beterbiev otherwise I think those twelve rounds will have done him good

Ref needs looking at in the Lopez fight should have stepped in just before the last attack. Corner should have pulled him out too at the end of the sixth

That’s two fighters now Bob won’t fight for Loma- Mikey and Lopez. Those are two very dangerous fights for Loma. Bob won’t do it

Kovalev vs Bivol is a non starter HJ, Bivol is with Hearn/DAZN. But Kovalev vs Beterbiev or Gvozdyk is easy money as all three are with Top Rank/Espn now. Want to see Kovalev vs Beterbiev as Beterbiev holds two wins over Kovalev from their amateur days. And it's pretty obvious someone gets KO'd.

Arum won't allow his fighters to fight on DAZN and Hearn won't allow his fighters to fight on espn.

I think Bivol will fight C Smith at 168

Errol Spence Jr battered a game Mikey Garcia for a shutout unanimous decision. Spence was far too big and strong for Garcia but credit to Garcia for lasting 12 rounds but Spence could’ve closed the show if he really wanted to. Garcia has no business at 147. If it wasn’t for the $8.5m purse I highly doubt Garcia would’ve chased Spence.

Spence landed 345/1082 punches(32%) whereas Garcia landed only 75/406 punches(19%).

This was Pacquiao vs Margarito style beatdown.

You realise peak Manny was a freak of nature? Margarito’s eye was shattered by Manny as the Mexican opted to defend with his face.

Spence obviously not as powerful as peak Manny, but this beat down wasn’t that dissimilar. The only difference was that Garcia actually has defensive skills so he avoided severe injury.
