Also seen links of Arnautovic as a back-up target for Man United. His figures since he's moved up front are incredible, it would kill us. Guy would be perfect for Mourinho as a striker, but I don't think the age or profile fits the club, even as a backup to Lukaku.

Yeah seems one of the oddest links for us though rumour mill also has Utd linked with a swap deal of Mandzukic & Darmian with Juve.

Arsenal in talks with Lichtsteiner on a free. Not a wild one, but an experienced head in defence. Although I think it’ll worry some that Bellerin (who has stagnated a touch) will be off.

Also being reported that Emery will now have £70m before sales. Not a bad budget considering there’s players there to sell and they spent big on Aubs in the winter

Lichtsteiner is in the same bracket as the Zabaleta signing for WHU. Given great service at a big club, but legs have completely gone. Not surprised he wants a final PL payday.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Zabaleta did play 37 games for us. He’d get a 6/7 out of 10, so as long as they’re smart with him there’s value to these players. Our problem was playing him in a slow defence anyway and not being smart enough to play him correctly for his pace.

About time Liverpool spent more than they sold! Glad to see it. Can't compete for the Prem if you are selling your best players to buy new players.

Apparently Liverpool will look to buy a new keeper, with Allison a £50m+ target.

With the signings of Fabinho, Naby Keira and potentially Fekir Liverpool could have a much stronger midfield next season. Just need to buy a quality keeper and another centre back to have a really strong team for next year.

ahahaha I see what you are saying. No I wouldn't make such a prediction, coz just as Livepool are looking like they will be stronger next year I fully expect Man Utd, Chelsea Man city and arsenal to be stronger.

Looks like Barca are trying to offload as many fringe players as they can to raise money for Grizzlemanbearpig. Selling young Brazilian centre back Marlon to us, they’ve offered out Digne, Vidal and Gomes too.

Think this was just a case of transfer roulette picking a name that has the vaguest of links to Mourinho and making a story out of it. The story all but dies on the spot and hasn't been mentioned since
In other United news we're apparentlty in the final stages of signing Porto RB Diogo Dalot, another one that came out of the blue last night but seems to have some legs to it. Can't say I had heard of him before the story broke, only played for Porto a handful of times but we've trigged a 20m euro buy out clause in his contract. He's expected to come in and put some pressure on Valencia who was all sorts of woeful last season (the odd game aside)

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Smart move by Mourinho. Started to feel like Valencia's legs were starting to fade last year, not surprising, given his ten years of service. Majority of the fee should be paid for by the outgoing Darmian deal to Juventus, which is rumoured to be around £12m.

Just heard on talk sport and 50m quid being quoted. Outrageous fee regardless of how much I like Arnautovic

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
now i know we've been excellent at wasting money recently but why on earth would we spend 50mil for a guy to sit on the bench all season
right wing, right back, left back are much more important first team signings than a bench warmer. looking like a cm with fred already signing

Newcastle have confirmed the signing of that goalkeeper they had on loan, now a permanent transfer. Looked a decent keeper, granted only seen him a few times
I'd agree with that compelling, but would add a centre back in to it too

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
I could see the upscale of Arnautovic to Manchester United tbh. But not at a ridiculous £50m price tag. Perhaps £20m with Martial on loan. Probably best deal all round

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
We signed him for more than that last year. And he went up front and scored basically 1 in 2 and contributed to something like 17 goals in 20 games. We’d be mad to take that deal!

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Marko has been outstanding for us since moving up top and would suit many attributes Mourinho likes, but if they’re spending 50m on Fred, 20m on Gal Gadot (people loved that film) and another 50m on Aldeweireld, you’d have to question being nearly 200m down for those four

Nothing story, like the Benitez one. Marko is levels below United. Good player, but not the answer for Mourinho, in order to catch City.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
I’d imagine that there’s a general ‘meh’ feeling about these acquisitions from City fans. Pep should be looking at players that are capable of elevating them to another level in the CL. Not sure these do anything other than providing depth.

Isn't depth really what they need though? Guys like De Bruyne, Sane, Sterling etc clearly got tired as the season progressed, so these type of signings help that?
Albeit I think they need to sign a top class CB

havent seen enough of him to comment massively, was always impressed with shaktar teams of brazilians when they had him, costa, willian etc though. we are missing a player who could fill the gap between matic's sitting and pogbas roaming. hopefully he's the man, although jose needs to teach his team to stop missing his midfield by going up to lukaku too soon

Seems Cardiff are going to get Josh Murphy off us for £10m+ - good deal for us, he's got the potential, but some way off being a consistently good championship player, let alone PL

Because the media has had an obsession with Grealish since he was 18
Grealish has never had a season close to the one Maddison just had

Err the season just gone.
Also Grealish has played in the prem and done well, not all the time granted.
He is a quality player. Madison is good.
I thought Murphy was quality this season.
Defiantly championship quality. Reckon he will do well in the premiership.
Fair to say you saw more of him this season.
