Surprised Sime Vrsaljko has joined them on loan from Atletico Madrid too. Serie A having a bit of a renaissance.

Cheik Kouyate is now a Crystal Palace player.
He has a lot in his locker, but it all went missing the last two years. Never laughed at how a player lacks control as much as I have with Cheik. But when he’s on it, he dominates and bullies in midfield. Was hoping he’d go abroad as I reckon he could be coaxed out of this slump.

Generally, but also for the Toon. We are having to resort to loan swaps with a Championship club, despite us being in the richest league in the world. We dared to dream when we came back with Rafa, sadly, Mike Ashley has resorted back to running the club on a shoestring budget. Rafa isn’t even bothered anymore, and I don’t blame him. Not quite sure why he’s still even there, he doesn’t need the money. 17th in Ashley’s mind, is like winning the league.

3 days ago, Sky were running the story that United had cooled their interest in Harry Maguire. Today, they’re now apparently preparing a bid for Harry Maguire. Basically, Sky Sports haven’t got a clue. It’s all about Sky bet, and making money. Alderweireld will be signing.

I did part of my dissertation on it and the majority on the use of Sky Sports News by Sky. It isn’t some weird marketing ploy to get Steve from Darlington to put £5 on Lascelles to Everton at 4/6

Heard a whisper about this over the weekend but didn't really believe it.
Looks like it almost a done deal though with a medical happening.
Be quite a coup for us as there were much better sides sniff around him, and for a free as well

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
Bernard intrigues me. Mainly cos he’s been touted as a backup for us and a backup for clubs and yet is a coup at Everton. He’s turned down clubs all through the summer cos he wanted big money, and has now climbed down cos not even the Chinese clubs were offering him it!
Not sure the thing Everton need is an attacking midfielder who wants to play from the left...

The way I see it is he possibly will only be a backup for us as well, but is still a big step up from Bolasie and Mirallas.
But he is coup in the fact that we normally don't attract players of his ability on free transfers as bigger name clubs normally step in. And it seems to be for not stupid wages either.

I wasn’t so much calling you out, Afro, I was surprised the press were going so big. Seems to be being hyped more than I thought necessary is all.
Although I might just be becoming an old man, as I’m not sure Mina is actually that good but he’d be considered a big signing for Everton. I feel like they need to find the next Jagielka, not another punt at a classy one like Funes Mori was.
It’s why I’m wary of our defence being Diop and Balbuena. They just might not adapt to the league

It's okay, I didn't take it as such.
Its my view on why the media are hyping it. We aren't an attractive proposition to foreigners as we aren't in CL/Europe and not based in London. Therefore, to persuade a foreign player with a reasonable reputation is a bit of a turn up.
On the flip side, he hasn't signed yet and this is Everton, so no chickens being counted!!

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
On the CB one, we need someone with a bit of pace IMO. Michael Keane hasn't done well for us, but I think part of that is that he has not had a pacey CB alongside him. He has had Jags or Williams most of the time.
And Keane isn't quick enough to cover them and is frequently pulled out of position. If he had someone quicker, he could focus more on his own positioning, knowing that the other CB would be able to recover better. We might start to see the Burnley Michael Keane then.

Re: Ongoing Transfers thread
This United transfer window is going to end one of two ways
either we agree a fee for Alderweireld or end up panicking and buying another centre back just for the sake of buying one. All this Mina talk is concerning, he's no upgrade on what we have and doesn't sort our issues RE lack of a leader at the back
As for the Pogba situation, the bid was laughable but I don't think Barca ever believed this would be accepted, more a statement of intent. Now it looks as if it ends with Pogba either leaving for Barca (the club I reckon he wanted initially but we paid more) or with him signing a reported £450k a week extension. As much as I like Pogba, I don't want Raiola anywhere near this football club as even a new contract will only end up in an identical situation in 18 months time. Granted need to push that price up to a more realistic valuation but then cash in. We've still got marouanne fellaini afterall FML

We’ve signed John McGinn from Hibs.
Very unlikely, but heard a rumour that we are interested in re signing Benteke.
Doubt that would happen, but would love him back.
Interesting to see what happens with young Jack by 5pm tomorrow.

We kick off today with Kepa as a £71m signing for Chelsea to replace Courtois after his £35m move to Real. Kovacic also joins Chelsea on loan.
Danny rose going to Schalke is confusing and interesting. There is just no way he wouldn’t have been a good signing for Man United, and I’m surprised an Everton didn’t try for him. Seems a better deal than Digne.
Obviously things have been hard for Rose at Spurs, so I can only hope this move helps him out. Great to see more English players testing themselves abroad, although I think he could have done better than Schalke. That England left back (or wing back) spot must be up for grabs, so this is the start of an intriguing two year fight for that shirt.

Don’t think he’s helped himself, stating how mentally fragile he is. No top side in the PL will want to take on that burden, and introduce someone with a negative or depressing state, to the dressing room. Been quite injury prone of late too. Schalke are in the CL anyway, so not too bad a step down for him.
