In fairness, when the ref isn't penalising offside it makes it harder to play to him. Mcinally or barclay need to have a word.

Yeah it's like there's been a directive to the refs saying to just ignore it. Every game has been the seen! We just need to do it too - we're too honest.

If Ireland score first in the second half. Scotland might as well walk off the pitch.

They ( Scotland) are terrible all over the field, getting smashed in the scrum, giving away too many penalties.

Lack of power up front? Check
Lack of cohesion in the backs? Check
Porous defence despite all the pre game chat? Check
Headless chicken tactics? Check
Not learning lessons from previous games? Check

For all the talk of being near perfect to win, how about Scotland just focus on going through a few phases before attempting a high risk backs move? They're 100% their own worst enemies in this game. The only major criticism I had with Barnes in that half was a highly contentious ball rip from a ruck from an Irish player off his feet that gave Ireland all the momentum for their first try. Apart from that it is just Scotland playing like garbage. In a world cup it is inexcusable. Scotland should be doing better.

It’s not just about being honest and not going offside also, it’s we’re naive and letting Ireland do it. They fly up from offside, put a little kick in for Taylor or Maitland to gather.

We’re trying to pass the ball wide and getting caught, so change the angle and go in behind them

We need to adjust to the woeful reffing and take the game out of his hands

If that's all it is then it's a hard nerves tactical decision against a Scotland renowned for controlled chaos attack. You need nerves of steel to trust yourself that you can force Scotland to make mistakes with dangerous possession.

But obviously so far, it's more than that.

Good first half. Forwards doing well. Shame stockdale couldn’t get that try.
Would have been nice if Murray had kicked the penalty over at the end.

Few more scores in the second half.

2nd half is a new half. Ireland have to keep alive and remain ruthlessly physical. Scotland gets a sniff of hope and all that fancy stuff suddenly begins to gell again.

I wasn't trying to downplay Ireland - they're ruthlessly clinical in what they do.

I'm just so frustrated that teams know exactly how the play against us, and we always play into their hands.

That’s our problem Fly, we’re putting 100% into trying the fancy stuff right off the bat. Ireland are just coming up fast and cutting off the fancy stuff at source.

We need to play the whole game of rugby not just the crazy flighty Townsend stuff

Surely this is the beginning of the end for toonie. The big difference with the BVC era is that the players were more scared of him than they were of the opposition. We've gone from being hard to beat to pretty predictable and error prone, leaking tries left right and centre. Who would coach us though? Thats a difficult one. We need a hard barsteward who is flexible in their mindset with an overriding bloody minded winning mentality. So BVC...

Same old same old 4/5 phases spill the ball. I was expecting a far tighter game than this. Scotland do not look like even getting close to scoring a try.

Not sure what GAME your watching, as Best wasn’t in control and did not put downward force on that ball. His hand was below the ball.

No way it was a try, and Barnes just gifted it without even checking with TMO. Terrible reffing.

The first try was dubious too. Looked short to me, so how Barnes saw it to allow without checking is beyond me. But it was arguable, Best’s try however wasn’t. It was not a try.

It's just stupid. When have you ever seen someone charge down a free kick? Instead he touches it and gives them the lineout.

Stupid, stupid play.

When are scrum decisions not dodgy? It's pretty much shut your eyes and pick a number from 1 to 3 and point left or right depending on the wind
