I don't think you can count Torres as worst signing, yes he wasn't smashing in goals left right and center, but he wasn't at Liverpool anyway. I think players like Joe Cole and Poulsen are much worse because they all had pre season to learn their new teams system.

He might turn out to be a very good signing - in fact I think he definitely will. But you can't get away from the fact that he cost £50 million for ONE GOAL. That has to make him the worst signing of THIS season.

I can see the argument that he is a signing for next season, but be that as it may, he certainly had a negative effect on this season. He was chosen over Drogba AND/OR Anelka at several key points of the season, and failed to deliver anything each and every time. In a season in which the title was easily attainable. It’s not as if the season was over, and he was being blooded and integrated ready for next year. He got the nod over other, proven players, in key matches, and failed to deliver.

It cost Chelsea the title
It cost Ancelotti his job.
And it cost 50 million quid.
