Does anyone here play any sports?

most of us on here are sports fans, ranging from armchair fan to going to every game/match possible.

But how many of us actually play the sports we love?

I play in an amateur football league...

You'll find that pretty much everyone posting on the golf boards is a very keen and active golfer. I play off 4 after an incredibly bad year last season... Maverick is a scratch player.... and there are many other very highly skilled players.

There are also people there with 40+ years of experience at the game like OldShanker who has stories of playing with some of the greatest players the world has seen and also others of us on there who have connections to some of the current cream of the crop.

All in all.... golfers are great!

Used to play on the school football team but mainly because I was a beast at 6ft 2in, no skill whatsoever but could send the opposition strikers into the stands with my left foot.

I've never actually played a round of golf but i have been on a few driving ranges... now that is a real good factor and stress releasing

I play Cricket(Not now obviously it's the winter!)

Will be my first year of seniors cricket this year,Should be interesting.I'm a wicket-keeper and N011 Batsman!Do occassionally wheel my arm over for a couple of overs of Medium pace dobbers.

I play basketball in the winter if I'm fit for a local team. Used to play for my school and County so good to play again after a few years!

I play cricket, and have actually represented France at various age levels (U15 U17 and U19), but lacked the motivation to practise hard enough to stay in the senior team (and also quite honestly lacked the skill). I'm a wicket keeper batsman, have batted pretty much anywhere in the order, though now settled at about n°5. Also captain our club third team (very low level - sort of pub side). Used to roll my arm over (off spin), but gave up after taking 1-13 off one over which included roughly seven wides.

Apart from that, I play a few racquet sports: badminton, table tennis and tennis, though not very seriously (just enjoy having a hit from time to time - used to be part of a tennis club).

play Rugby for my Uni in the quarter finals in the western cup, if we beat Swansea 2's and Cardiff 3rds/Bristol 4th we play the final at Twickenham aparantly Also used to play for my district team.

Play cricket in the summer for my club second team who i open the batting for, play on sundays as well in freindlies where i usually open again and got to captain several times as well

I am a former Rugby player (played to a high standard) but had to stop in my early 20's due to injuries. I live in Holland now so i spend alot of time training a local team. I play golf a bit but dont watch it or support it for some reason. Snooker i play alot and i also play cricket in the summer. I just love sports

I play pool, football, cricket and do like the odd round of golf.

I play 5 a side every week.

I havent played golf in 3 years

I play snooker/pool, bowling (10 pin), darts and poker occasionally.

I used to play football and was a county standard athlete before a succession of injuries, culminating in a pro lapsed disc. So suffice to say I now cant do a great deal of exercise, hoping to have an operation so can start training again

I play tennis during the winter to a remarkably high standard and cricket in the summer at a level where it amazes people that I failed to make the England Ashes team.

I used to play Darts to a high enough standard - played for the Northern Ireland youth team a some years back - but was struck by dreaded "Dartitis"

Is that where you cannot let go of the dart? Didn't Eric Bristow used to suffer with it?

Yes, players basically have mental and technical problems who give the throw trouble while releasing the dart. Eric bristow retired because of it

Very few seem to fully recover as well, Mark Walsh being the only one I can think of. I'd add though Bristow manged to get to 3 straight World Finals with it from 89-91 and was ranked 1 for the 1990 World Championships.

I play Golf, averagely and used to be a AA class clay shooter. Shot for Cheshire county and North of England, won a few decent national comps

I play rugby in the winter and I used to play cricket until I realised I'm not very good at it and it's a waste of a Saturday

Play football Wednesdays and Sundays.

I exercise everyday.....my thumbs get a workout when I'm playing the PS3.

I sail both for my local club and my university, I compete in various competitions mostly locally but ocassionally further afield, flirted briefly with the idea of making it at the top level but a combination of traveling through to Edinburgh in January in the early hours of the morning and the harsh fact that in sailing there is only one olympic place, per class, per nation kind of put me off

I used to play rugby for my primary school and my local club but I my hand/eye co-ordination is awful and you find that people soon have little time for someone who can't catch a ball

Nowdays I play football and squash with my mates most weeks

Just play football although im thinking about going to the golf with my brother.

I play 6-a-side football, in defence, a very attacking minded defence. Just about to start our 4th season on Monday. Entered last year won division 2 without losing, stayed in division 1, challenged for the title but slipped to 4th. Hoping for the division 1 title this time around.
