Oh I absolutely do expect an "ass kicking". Very Happy In fact the start of this season has reminded me why I haven't played fantasy football in years.

I'm fighting it out with Grizzly for the wooden spoon ATM. boxing

The mighty 'Shepton Mallet Matadors' will try to maintain their (unbelievable) 100% record against the 2-1 'Bradford Steaming Rams'.

Starting to think i know what i'm doing, a sure sign that things will go belly up any day now.. Shocked

Moot - I like your carefree pessimism. Smile

Considering my poor luck on the waiver wire today, I'm in a quandary over whether to play Bowe instead of Gaffney. Likewise which TE to play.

This is why I like NFL FF as opposed to EPL - you have a weekly dilemma rather than being largely stuck with one team once you have picked it. Smile

I've done EPL fantasy for years (Classic League, The Sun, Metro, Auctions etc..), and i have to admit that this beats them all. The NFL.com site and App site is impressive, and best of all its free to enter. Very Happy

My enthusiasm will undoubtedly drop once i start getting whipped week in week out, but at least i can look back on my all conquering start!! king

Fortunately you're ahead in the predicted scores (99 to 118 iirc), which is fine, thats been the case each week so far.

Oh woe is me. Listened to the naysayers and left Bowe and Maclin on the bench (Vikes D was supposed to contain the former and the latter was to be literally hamstrung), and I lose by 7 points while I have 20 plus extra points on the bench.

think I'm sticking with my gut instinct from here on out. Sad

Well won Twelve. Especially considering the Steelers performance.

Cheers skins.

Yay a win, finally, provided LG Blount doesn't have negative points tonight.

I think going with your gut instinct is right TBH. I have a tendency to over think things when it comes to FF, for example, team X plays cover 2 and takes away the deep routes and player Y (one of my best performers) primarily runs deep routes so i'll leave him on the bench. Player Y then goes on to destroy team X. Just put your best and most consistent guys out there unless they have a really really bad matchup like Revis or Asomugha for WRs. That's my advice for what it's worth.

Congrats to Grizzly who also picked up win #1 but commiserations to Pr4wn and The Traveling Medicine Show (Virgil?) who drop into the 1 + 3 group. Division 2 looks weak.

After a two week losing streak I thought I was going to go down a very bad road until what is looking like it will be a very surprising win over the 3-0 Tartan Titans.

What is a waiver? I've done free agency swaps, i get trades, but i don't understand waivers and couldn't find any info in the help section.

1/4 of the season gone, thought it might be interesting to see a comparision between the Draft order and points accrued so far.

If I recall correctly, the general rule of the draft was RB>WR>QB>TE>DEF>K....

Top 3 RB's
McFadden Pts 82 Drafted 11th
McCoy Pts 80 Drafted 8th
Rice Pts 77 Drafted 5th

Top WR's
Welker Pts 93 Drafted 37th
Megatron Pts 80 Drafted 16th
Smith Pts 63 Drafted 93rd

Top QB's
Rodgers Pts 114 Drafted 6th
Brady Pts 105 Drafted 10th
Newton Pts 104 Drafted 201st

I guess no one would of predicted Cam Newton to be so impressive so quickly, but interesting to see QB's easily outscoring the RB's in this pass happy league....

Sadly I have failed to take advantage of Newton's success. The only week I've had him in for so far was the one against the Jaguars.

In the NFL, a player released from his team goes onto the 'waiver wire'. This means that he is available to any team that wants to sign him with no compensatory value. A player is free to sign with who he wants.

In FF land, that's impractical as the player in this instance is a commodity, not a person, so whilst everyone can submit a waiver request, the league defined waiver system kicks in. In most cases its a rotating order of preference for waiver requests. i.e. if you want to pick up Joe Bloggs and so does another team, then the highest ranked owner gets the player.

Its a little more complex than that, but I hope you get the picture.

Also worth noting that once the waiver period is done (for instance ours is Sunday evening to Wednesday morning, it reverts to a first come first served basis.

Depends how good they are i guess. Ravens isn't it? I wouldn't personally.

I've swapped my Kicker because of a Bye, but he wasn't that good in the first place.

Drop one of your poorest performing players and pick up a second defense for a week. I kept 2 kickers and 2 D's on my roster until week 2 to gauge who was best.

NB I dropped the Lions as they were facing the Boys and picked up the Skins. Ended up being 13 points better off by half time of the Lions game, then 2 points worse off by the end. Funny old game! Smile

Sorry lads - been busy lately and haven't had chance to get on here. Last time I posted my team was 0-2 and now, unbelievably, they're 2-2!!! Gotta thank Tom though for leaving both Beanie Wells and Antonio Gates in his line-up a couple of weeks ago when both were inactive - allowed me to scrape a 3 point vitory with a score of just 70!! Last week was a bit better though - I'm finally getting some signs of life from Julio Jones and Eric Decker has been a great waiver pick up.

Got Grizzly's mob this week - don't give myself much chance in that one given his line-up. How come you're just 1-3 Grizz??? Vick, Matthews, Gore, Steve Smith, Welker?? That's the most fearsome line-up I've come up against so far!

Like Skins said a few days ago, our division is hotting up - everyone 2-2! Go Rexy's Redskins!

Yeah should be close Barney, lot of backs ups playing for me with a lot on bye weeks, reckon you could have big advantage at QB though.

My team was back to its diabolical best at the weekend. That's my 2 game winning streak snapped and i've reclaimed outright bottom spot in our division with my 2-3 record! Infuriating thing is though, I left DeAngelo Williams and Victor Cruz and they combined for 38 points. If I play them instead of Stevan Ridley and Eric Decker then I win. Infuriating game this!!!! Hey ho, Rex Grossman is back in action this week so all will be well again Laugh

If anyone is interested in a RB I’ve got a few, Foster, Bradshaw, Jackson, Hunter all available looking for WR’s.

Virgil - take a look at my lot, I seem to have stockpiled WR to the point where I have a blank RB position because of byes this weekend.
Ideally a #2 or #3 RB

The answer to that question is contained within post one of this thread. Wink

Uh oh! Bad week for me to ditch my back up QB . It's usually a safe enough strategy to to carry just one QB after your starter has had his Bye week so that you can carry an extra RB or WR. I've just found out though that it's not so sound when your starter is Rex Grossman. My train wreck of a fantasy season continues!! Damn Peyton Manning's dodgy neck!!

Looks like I'm gonna have to change my team name again too! Having said that, that's been the most exciting bit of the season for me!!

So your part of the Draft Peyton, pick up Rex and lose strategy then with me

Phew, a lot of close games in week 6, with Beck4leagueMVP's 0.8 point win over Second Hand Heroes surely being the closest so far..

Tell me about it. Something tells me I'm running out of luck though. Brady is on a bye (and not looking as hot as weeks 1 & 2 anyway) and Hillis and Tolbert look out of favour, so I need my reserves to step up and have good games. Hang on, what reserves...

Yep! Sucks, doesn't it??

I'm 2-4 now but really should be 1-5 - I was the beneficiary of some generous team selection gaffes by Arizona Tom in week 3 when he left a couple of inactive players in!

twelve 283 - Cheers for the trade offer buddy, but I think I'm gonna hang on to Boldin. He's one of the few guys I've got who is capable of chipping in with half decent scores most weeks and maybe the odd big week.

Noticed you had a few decent RBs though... if you wanna come back with some kinda offer involving one of them then I might bite!

Anyone looking for Flacco or Freeman. I'm looking for an RB. I could throw in Marcedes Lewis if it would also get me a backup WR.

No problem mate, cheers for responding. Check your PMs BTW.

Does everyone know where to look for trade proposals because i've sent out a few and hardly ever get a response one way or the other. Headscratch

Greg Olsen is on the trade block.
