Re: Missing thread
I find that kind of censorship very annoying as it had not gotten out of hand.

Re: Missing thread
Mangler - we received a few comments about it asking for it to be removed. We have it stored - if others show they want it back, I have no problem reinstating it.
The person who posted it is a known troublemaker on here and the thread was designed for nothing more than trying to annoy the AF posters.
AS I said, you all did admirably well by debating it but we asked for people to vote on its removal and we have a few requests via pm to get rid.
As I said, if a few more want it back, we are more than apply to oblige.

Re: Missing thread
I guess the occasional WUM doesn't bother me and some can be kind of entertaining (we had a few classics on 606) and sometimes real debate will break out. I'm just not a fan of heavy-handed reactions when things aren't out of control, especially when I've taken the time to respond in a civilized manner. If things degenerate or become downright hostile, then I'm all for locking a thread down.
But it's done, so lets move on.

Re: Missing thread
You are absolutely right - we should move on.
Its no biggie but I will say that in Pr4wn you have one of the most laid back and easy going moderators on here.
He only removed it due to requests from other members.

Re: Missing thread
Agreed, I'm not exactly heavy-handed.
Also, it didn't really bring anything to anyone. As you said Mangler, all it served to do was annoy people and give to OP the satisfaction that it had done so.
We have had that debate many times on the old 606, especially post Superbowl... ;-)

Re: Missing thread
I was one of those who reported it was wumming and have no qualms with doing so. As prawn says, all you are doing in responding is giving a small minded %$%$% the satisfaction of a response. I have more respect and decorum than to go and try winding up followers of other sports because I don't like them, and I simply expect the same respect in return. Like I say to those I meet, I have no issue with what you believe, just don't go shoving it in my face uninvited.

Well, skins, my response is if something bothers you, just don't read it. I don't mind engaging in some banter with a wum and if it gets out of hand, then by all means lock it down. We actually have had some broaden their minds after a debate. Naturally some are just thick and looking to cause trouble. But if we boot them automatically, we may never get another epic SueLee

Re: Missing thread
Understood, but being so involved with the game over here, its the narrow minded WUM's that irk me. In the US there's some friction between sports, but there's very much a live and let live approach. There are too many over here that take the 'my sport is best' attitude and would only be happy if football or rugby were the only sport on the planet. The likes of Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders, playing multiple pro sports, couldn't exist in our environment - for some reason people would expect you to chose between sports.

Funnily enough, this appeared on BBC:

A few rugby wummers should read this...
