right on to the 1st of the cup finals this week and Chris Adams has named an unchanged squad for Surrey's decisive final game of the LV= County Championship season against Derbyshire at the Kia Oval.

As JimBob appears to have other activities planned this evening, I'll attempt to answer questions (2) and (3).

(2) Agreed, Gloucs probably won't give Northants ''a good wotsitting from this position''. However, Northants will now almost certainly end up with less batting points from their final match than us. That means we're promoted IF (still a very bif ''if'' but not as huge as when the Corporal almost confined me to barracks for suggesting it a fortnight ago! Smile

) we get full bowling points against Derbys and end up beating them.

(3) Nothing resolved yet but - as a Gloucs follower - I'm sure you'll appreciate us heaving a big sigh of relief that we haven't mucked everything up on day one of this game.

As for question (1), I'll upwardly delegate that to the Corporal. He's probably currently on a security patrol of national and international importance but I'm sure he'll respond fully after that. Very Happy

fantastic performance from the boys today!.. managed to hear a bit of the commetary from churchy late afternoon & heard Meaker get out twice to noballs, once clean bowled & then caught at leg slip I think... weather forecast is promising... may be a few showers tomorrow...

looking forward to hearing the Corporal's comments once he's back from his duties! Very Happy

Feel a bit sorry for Jason Roy, looked set to finally get another score over 50 and then got undone by some excelent fielding and an ill-fated step out of his crease. This is currently our 4th highest score of the summer and only the 2nd over 400 since the 5th game of the season. Timely to say the least!

Evening all! Great effort by Surrey today.

Unless I am mistaken, if Northants don't manage a further last wicket partnership of 84 off 14 overs then Surrey's fate is in their own hands + the weather.

Particularly impressive performance by Meaker, targeting his dismissals from no balls.. Very Happy

And good stuff too from Wine Gums and several other of our batsmen.

Batty's fan club? I think membership is rather select - (eg as in the Bullingdon). It's recently become a bit more select as Chris has, sadly, let his membership lapse!

It would be fitting if the Viscount takes a hatful of wickets tomorrow. Guildford you'll need to get there early in case of crowd congestion Shocked

= 3 slices of humble pie for doubting the suggestions of more than one Surrey posters (Guildford, Simon of Surrey....others?) that Surrey promotion was a realistic proposition, albeit long shot.

Btw, hope we are all working on our entries for the competition to win a Kent shirt. (If you were a cricketer who would you be and why.) The best I can think of so far is "Jon Batty, a model, long-serving county pro, sadly under-appreciated by the supporters until it was too late..." Erm
