Re: surrey vs Derbyshire county championship division 2 1st cup final
I think a Meaker 50 and 450ish should be the declaration point.
It will be a massive psychological advantage for us if Derbyshire know that they need to get past 300 just to avoid the follow-on.
Also Meaker getting a half-century can't do any harm to his bowling confidence.

Meaker does indeed reach 50, 460-9 now this is very impressive stuff, definitely looking at trying to force a follow on now.

Hi Mickey, you're so pretty!
Sorry, forget that, bad joke/old pop song for Goochie!
More seriously, Mickey, did you post on the old 606 towards the end of last season about having played with the Viscount in Australia? If you are the guy I remember, you liked his nickname and agreed with me that Viscount would be a fine captain of our seconds if he didn't make it at first eleven level. Well, he certainly has made it this season. Almost 73 - LBW shout against Durston turned down, probably for height although looked good to me ....

Hey mate,
yes that was me! Good memory!
It's been great that he has been able to a) establish himself in the team, and b) play like the star that we all knew he could be with a bit of luck.
I was out with Clapham South with him and Meaker and Saturday, he says that all the hard work is paying off, and he feels like he can put the ball wherever he wants. Very happy for him!
Trying to see if he can get me some cheap tickets for the CB40 final!

In other news, "drinks carrier" Wilson is currently 54* for Ireland on day 1 of their match against Canada. Not the most testing of bowling attacks you would imagine but well done all the same!

BREAKING NEWS
County caps just awarded on the pitch to Steven Davies and Gareth Batty. Well done guys!
Davies is an obvious award. Batty less so but he still brings something to the team. Surprised at myself by being impressed by him this season (more his attitude than ability and stats).

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does this mean? I thought you were 'capped' on your first game?

warwicshire have been going slowly this morning, and their now strategy has come into question as it is now falling down with rain at the rose bowl.

Mickey,
Trying to eat a pork pie, drink first pint and watch Viscount and Ojha (who at times seems to have the ball on a piece of string) bowl - so trust you'll excuse me ducking your questIon. Hopefully Goochie or Carrot will answer soon for you. If not, I will this evening.
Cloudier since the morning session ....

Warwickshire were a bit cocky i think cricketfan, assuming they would get bowling points against us.

Re: surrey vs Derbyshire county championship division 2 1st cup final
mickeybee In cricket, there are two types of caps. Firstly, there is the international type. Some countries also award a domestic type generally known as a "county cap". The latter system is most commonly applied in English county cricket. Most counties do not automatically award caps to players on their first appearance; instead, they have to be "earned" through good performances. Indeed, one can play at the highest domestic level for several years, and have a quite significant career in first-class cricket, without ever winning a cap.

Mickey - you have to 'earn' a county cap these days. You could play for years without earning one - Davies and Batty have been with us a couple of years now and only just got their's

RE: the weather
Where I am currently, about 50 miles directly west of London, the shower that is hitting the oval now only lasted about 30-45mins, so should stop soon if not already. Right now it is gloriously sunny, so can't see any more interruptions after this.
Will let you know if it starts chucking it down here aain though!
