Would you be a 'Model Pro'
The earlier post by JAS regarding Luke, made me think about so-called model pro's, because i guess Luke falls into that category as he doesn't have skeletons in his closet. Affabal, likeable guy, clean cut, family man etc ....
But knowing how our media like to build people up only to knock them down, I guess I would be in the mire in that respect. Nothing criminal or anything, but would be seen murmuring plenty of expletives on camera, bit of a lothario in my younger days, so probably plenty of kiss and tell stories in the red tops, and the odd bloke chasing me for ruining his marraige etc.
So what would your press be like, would they love you or take pleasure in giving you some stick. I'm sure my phone was hacked
besides the Right Reverand Mac I guess there would plenty of stuff to come out from some of you lot on here ...... S-R refusing to play with blokes over 12-stone, Blue movies coming to light starring Mav and young nurses, JAS's old employer saying he'd not been seen for 2-years, as he always seemed to have appointments near top courses, Diggers and his ASBO's ......

You've seen me in action then, hope you didn't pay to much for your copy of Maverick gets Nursemaided..... I could have got you a discount....
In all honesty if it was all about on the course press i'd be happily received I think, don't lose my rag and always a smile on my face even when losing, as I try to stay balanced...
Off the course whoa...... Everyone would think Tiger was a tame little Cat cat with his antics...
There'd be kiss and tells, angry husbands, fathers and neighbours. Woman writing in to say i'd had my way then wasn't there when they woke up, one would even have to write in to say after bedding her the following week she found me in bed with her mother (she was a serious MILF though). Drunken antics, arrested for cavorting naked in Hameln town centre on a few occaisions and probably many an incriminating snap of me on a boys holiday or falling out of a bar or club somewhere generally with someone else's girlfriend. There'd be things coming to light i've not even mentioned to Mrs Mav. Probably even the odd

So would I be a model pro, nope, no way, parents would hate me as a role model.

Mav, we could have a great time walking the course if we were both miked-up. 'Good shot mate, but look at the arse on that .......' 'yummy mummy on your right, but look at the state of him'. 'wont be long just off for a slash behind this tent', 'sick of this fooking shank man'

99% of the time I'd be a model pro, I'd be super fit, cheerful, polite but when drawn with Woods I'd probably get a disciplinary for punching him in the face.

They could follow us on air mked up, and when the air starts turning blue they could overlay the coverage with the tune of Bad Boys. Som eof the players may start to doslike us though once they realise what their wives are getting upto whilst their on the range....

I'd seriously have to sort out that weakness of mine................shouting "F*** IT!!!!!!!!" as loud as I can when I hit a bad shot. I don't think that would go down well at Wentworth.
Personal life, no problem. Just don't get married and your'e free to spread the love.

Re: Would you be a 'Model Pro'
I don't think I'd be a model pro "Ken on the course with the JAS group swears he can smell metabolized red wine oozing from JAS's pores, also thinks he's spotted lipstick on his neck/cheek."
Like it or lump it being nice to the media is part and parcel of the modern sporting world, give them what they want in terms of interviews etc and by and large they'll respect your privacy. Treat them with disdain and the first time you step out of line they'll hang you out to dry. So if you are going to have skeletons in you closet, be nice!!

Re: Would you be a 'Model Pro'
So the difference between a model pro like Luke, boils down to the difference in our formative years. Luke probably started playing at a very early age. There was potential so he spent probably all of his free time practicing and being coached, until he got a scholarship for the US collegiate system. Spent his teens going through the grind in inter university matches, state comps', and amateur comps, before turning pro.
Most of us though, probably did loads of sports but probably football, rugby and took up golf later. Girls, clubs, drinking, working, moving between jobs, careers etc. So in some respects we end up as more rounded individuals, with more experience of the world compared to Luke. Maybe thats why so many sportsmen get caught out on the lady front, because they haven't experienced it before and don't know how to deal with it. So it would be great to have Lukes money and lifestyle ......

I think the reason most sportsmen get caught out on the lady front is down to two reasons, opportunity and interest from other parties.
They will have a far more chance than your normal bloke to pull and if they do then depending on the profile of the sportsman it will be newsworthy to a greater or lesser degree if they are cheating.
With most mere mortals they dont get the chance as often and when they do by and large nobody cares. If you take someone who wasnt famous and make them famous they are just as likely to be caught out, probably more likely as they wont be as streetwise as an established famous person who will be a bit more savvy about keeping it quiet.

At least in golf you tend to get a better class of "groupie" not quite so skanky as a footballers one.
Mind you, Federer got a bit of a rough draw with his. I'm sure he could have done better.

Federer must see something in her no other man except for Mac can. Maybe she's his comfort blanket for cold winter nights and in the summer on his trips away he lets the real ladies help with his Smash!
Mac, Golf, Football, Playstation and Beer. try swapping playstation for ladies and then you have what most men call a normal life as a youngster

You must have been a lot luckier with the ladies is all I can say, it was note like I made the choice between the two.
I am not sure I would cope well in press conferences, the temptation for sarcasm would be too great.

Diggers the only thing I'd add is that a pro sportsman has not had an upbringing like us, so missed out on the 'fun'. Once he becomes famous and has time on his hands, he discovers ladies and is like a kid in a sweet shop, thats where the trouble starts and was the case with Tiger. Obviously this is a generalisation and Luke is an example of the opposite (What we know)
